Dani and Mark mat three years ago at Balham Bowls Club in south London. So when it came to choosing a venue for their October wedding, nowhere else could have been more perfect! "The night we met I was quite hungover and was out for a friend’s birthday, Mark was out for some drinks with his friend (and best man) Paul. Depending on who tells the story, I apparently gave Mark ‘the eye’ as he walked into the pub, which prompted him to start talking to me later in the evening, OR (my version) I don’t remember looking at Mark as he came in and wondered why he was staring at me all night. Either way, he bought me a rum and coke and we were inseparable ever since."Read more...

Patty and Dani were married on their 13th anniversary at Château de la Grande Riedera in Switzerland. "The Inspiration for our wedding was to spend a relaxed day with our family and friends, where everyone would feel comfortable", Patty began. "The original plan was a quiet BBQ somewhere close to a lake, but that seemed to be a very difficult task. Somehow the venue, budget and date never fit together. As that didn't work out, we looked for something different and found the Chateau de la Grande Riedera, which was perfect. We loved that all parts of the wedding could take place at the same location, which made it a very relaxed atmosphere. It also allowed us to organise the caterer we wanted to have which brought us back at least parts of the BBQ idea."Read more...

Being big foodies, Billy & Laura knew they wanted to serve up an amazing feast at their wedding. But they wanted to do it in their own way, so a Full English Breakfast it was! "Overall we just wanted our wedding to be the best party anyone had ever been to", wrote the bride. "We wanted great food, music and laughter. We definitely wanted our food to be different as we’d attended 8 or 9 weddings the year before and had (albeit very tasty) the same meal over and over."Read more...

Loving all things retro, Lucy and Michael always knew that would be the theme of her wedding. When it came to actually planning their big day though, they wanted it to be unique so they threw in some colourful Mexican influences for good measure! They had a mariachi band, their decoration was colourful and they even served a Mexican inspired buffet feast! The groom's love of The Beatles couldn't be ignored, so the bride walked down the aisle to one of their sings and their tables were named after Beatles albums.Read more...

I often get asked what the most alternative wedding I've ever featured is. As while there are some that always stick out in my mind (killer Vegas elopement, bride in a coffin, surprise ceremony!) that's not really what Rock n Roll Bride is about. Yes, I love the crazy, unique stuff, but I equally adore the cute little weddings where it's clear the couple have put their heart and soul into it, and planned a wedding that truly reflects them. That's exactly what Kieran and Sarah did and the result was gorgeous.Read more...

Pearce and Angela love all things vintage and retro, so their 1950s wedding theme came easily to them. They wanted a theme that their guests could be a part of (with fancy dress!). The celebration was held at Craig Y Nos Castle near Brecon Beacons in South Wales. "We loved the venue because it was quirky, wonky and theatrical so it suited us down to the ground", Angela said. "It was once owned by a very famous opera singer, Madam Patte, in the 19th century, who used to throw lavish parties and entertain the great and good back in the day. It was actually completely different to what we initially had in mind for a venue, but when we walked in we just knew it was perfect!"Read more...

A true DIY wedding, Claire-Josephine, Nick and their families made a lot of the details for their big day themselves. The stationery was made by the bride's aunt and the groom, and the favours by the mother of the groom. The cake was made by a member of the church choir and the bride helped design her own dress and headpiece which were made for her by her friend Keli Thompson, who has just launched her own wedding couture company.Read more...
