Laidback & Silly Engagement Shoot on a Beach in Florida

Lindsey and Kyle’s engagement shoot is on a whole next level of CUTE. Kat first saw this in the Rock n Roll Bride Facebook group (which you can join hereand fell in love with them and their approach to wedding planning, as exemplified by this tropical-inspired photo shoot.

Although they’d originally had a mini shoot right after their engagement, Lindsey and Kyle chose to redo them to stay true to who they were as a couple. Lindsey explains: “I was inspired by seeing another photo shoot that a couple had done a flamingo theme. As our wedding was having a tropical theme it was perfect. It didn’t quite work out with what we were aiming for – apparently it’s very hard to find lawn flamingos in Florida in the summer (who knew?) – so we just decided to keep shooting. We were going out of town the next day for a tattoo convention in New Mexico, so we just went out to the beach, to have fun and to make it work!”

Their shoot was located on St Pete Beach, Florida, at the public access beach, with V Simpson Photography – and we have to say, they’re naturals in front of the camera. “Nothing was staged, and that’s how I think we got the best out of it,” Lindsey explains. Special mention should go to Kyle, too, who rocks the camera amazingly – what a groom!

Skulls, Creepy Dolls & A Kick-Ass Halloween Wedding Party!

Leslie and Drew were married on 31st October 2016 as so, naturally, they wanted their wedding theme to be Halloween. The day was complete with skulls, creepy dolls and all the guests dressed in costumes!

“We’d been together for nine years and wanted to celebrate that,” began Leslie, “anything that wasn’t fun, we didn’t want. We ended up not having bridesmaids or groomsmen because we wanted everyone to feel included. Our invitations said ‘costumes mandatory’ on them. It made the atmosphere, some people were scary, some were pretty, but no one was wearing something they didn’t want to be in and everyone had fun with it. And because costumes were mandatory everyone assumed we’d be dressed as Beetlejuice or something, so when we showed up in a white dress and suit it was a surprise!”

Their ceremony was conducted by a family member, and was suitably ‘weird’! “I walked down the aisle to the Indiana Jones theme, I made it about half way before cracking up. My brother-in-law, Stuart, was ordained online and preformed the ceremony in his Jedi robes! He also wrote the ceremony. We told him to keep it weird and he obliged, opening with a brief history of homo-sapiens and their rise to power through unity and ending with the mathematically increasing odds that we will be swallowed up by a sinkhole.”

Dinosaur Engagement Shoot

Dino Engagemnt_Autumn BeuryHML-94

There’s a mini golf course on Panama City Beach, Florida, unlike all others… it’s full of dinosaurs!  Shelly and David wanted somewhere unique to shoot their engagement photos and this was the perfect place. A little bit unusual but totally beautiful to boot!

“They both are super out-going and full of personality”, wrote their photographer Autumn. “So the two combined were a perfect match. I really wanted to portray them as a couple, hone in on their relationship, emotions, and love for one another. For once, I didn’t do much stylizing for this shoot, because the location was already enough, I just had to get them there and in front of the camera. I was very excited about this shoot plus, they knew all these secret spots at the golf course for getting the best photos!”

Rachael & Jake’s Maui Beach Engagement Session

When it came to shooting Rachael (from Maui) and Jake’s (from Florida) engagement shoot, where else could be as perfect as on the beach? “These guys are all about the beach and rock the surf style,” said photographer Wendy Laurel. “I mean who else wears their bikini on their engagement shoot?  The shoot was at one of their favorite beaches on Maui, Ironwoods, and in the Honolua Valley (next to the famed Honolua Bay).  Both places are on the upper west side of Maui where lots of good surf and a large surf community can be found.”

These shots are certainly a perfect reflection of the couple and their everyday style. They will be getting married at a private residence overlooking the ocean later this year.

A Dia De Los Muertos, Punk Rock Wedding Shoot

This awesome punk inspired wedding was actually a faux-wedding – a photo shoot set up by stylist MMD Events, blogger Lauren of Every Last Detail and photographer’s Jeff & Anna Katherine of K&K Photography. They wanted to showcase some awesome alternative wedding styling and they certainly achieved that. I am totally smitten and almost a little upset that it isn’t a real wedding – this looks like the kind of party I want to go to!

“We put together this Punk inspiration shoot with the focus all around the *actual* definition of the word “punk”, courtesy of Every Last Detail’s Wedding Style Dictionary,” explained Lauren. “Pulling inspiration from the Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead), punk rock (of course), a little southern California “border-town-cool”, and rockabilly, we wanted the shoot to evoke what the actual “punk” lifestyle is. Our goal was to let brides know that punk can be pretty- not the cliche dark gothic look. We created a “punk” look that was pretty, colorful, and fun, just like the punk lifestyle is!”

The shoot took place at Tampa Armature Works Building in Florida and pretty much all the clothes were either thrifted or found very cheaply. This just goes to show that with a bit of imagination and creativity you CAN have a really Rock n Roll wedding without breaking the bank. I love this A LOT!

Be sure to also check out the FAB video after the ‘jump.’ Gotta love the Elvis dude!

Steve & Kelly’s Butterfly & Tattoo Themed Florida Wedding

Steve & Kelly’s November wedding took place in Florida at Omni Orlando Resort. The theme for the day was butterflies, in memorial of Kelly’s Papa who had passed away 5 years earlier. As well as wearing the bride wearing a butterfly bracelet and flowers in her hair, the couple released butterflies in his memory.

At the reception the couple filled the room with details that meant a lot to them – fish in the centrepieces for good luck and tattoo details becuase they are both heavilty tattooed. Each table was also given a name that meant a lot to the couple.

“Tattoos are something steve and I both enjoy and wanted to make it a part of our wedding,” explained Kelly. “We knew we didn’t want a traditional wedding, but still wanted to keep it elegant. Our planner and our vendors all made our vision become a reality and we have gotten nothing but great feedback from our friends and family. Everyone saw our personality in ever detail of our wedding.”
