Rock n Roll Bride - The ultimate guide for alternative brides

Coloured Hair

The Pink Invasion – Pink Chic

Kat

April 4, 2010

Happy Easter everybody! As regular readers will know, the Rock n Roll Bride doesn't stop blogging for anything so I thought I'd share one of my favourite topics today - pink haired gals! I hope you haven't eaten too much of the sweet stuff because today I'm going to provide you with one serious sugar rush... As a lover of all things pink (headed) I'm excited to share that all three of today's posts feature gorgeous pink tresses! Kicking things off is the engagement session of Fred & Martine. She told us that she once went to a party wearing a wig this exact colour and she got so many compliments she decided to make it permanent! It's been pink ever since... Her green plaid dress is an authentic Pendleton which she found for a steal at a vintage thrift store.

Go on Then, Ask me Anything…

Kat

January 23, 2010

On a morning on procrastination (or could it have been an evening? I loose track) I decided to give this formspring thing a go. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically a new social networking site (for lack of a better description) where you sign up and randoms (or in my case my lovely readers and fans) can ask me anything! I'm usually aghast at such self indulgence but I've actually really loved answering your burning questions - whether they be about Rock n Roll bride, my personal life (oh yes), the potential of babies (arrgh!), blogging or about having pink hair! I've loved the questions so much in fact that I wanted to share some of my favourites here. If you want to 'Ask Me Anything' then shoot on over to formspring and question away, I will try and answer as many as I can. and if you like I'll do another addition of my favourite questions again soon. So, what do ya wanna know?

2009 – The Year That Was {Part One}

Kat

December 30, 2009

As is customary at this time of year, I wanted to take some time to look back over the last 12 months and share with you some of my most favourite weddings, photo shoots and features. I think you'll be hard pushed to not find something that makes you go 'ooooh' amongstthis lot. Enjoy a-reminiscing! I'll be back tomorrow with part 2 (there's too much to narrow it down to just one post!) I'm also taking this slow blog-time (I like to refer to it as 'Crimbo Limbo' (!) to ponder my ideas and plans for Rock n Roll Bride in 2010. I'll try and share my musings for the year ahead with you soon and would love for you to let me know what you think. It's all about you dear reader after all...

Goth Gal in the Snow

Kat

December 27, 2009

I trust you had a good Christmas? I trust you had a good Christmas and Santa was nice to you? Down my chimney fell a swanky new 18.5" wide screen monitor (droooool) a Fuji Instax, a PINK Vivienne Westwood bracelet and an 'eco cup'. These are my favouritest presents. Santa obviously knows me very well - that I am a total blogging and photography geek, that Vivienne Westwood makes me happy and that I drink way too much coffee! I am muchly looking forward to playing with all my new toys and will certainly be scanning in some of my Instax shots soon. Was Santa just as good to you?Anyway, it's nice to have you back, it's been lonely without you dear reader. Although I am going to keep blogging between now and new year, the posts maybe a bit sparcer than usual. I'll still be here, plugging along though, so please don't hesitate to still get in touch if you need too.. Well the winter submissions have poured in over the festive period so I'm going to get right back into it with this snowy graveyard shoot from Jeffery Chan Tin. Bridal shoots in graveyards always seem to provoke some kind of controversy (who knows!?) but how can anybody argue that these images aren't ridiculously stunning? I really do love the snow... If you want to see more of this gorgeous Goth gal then check out this disgustingly fabulous zombie shoot and seriously sexy fashion shoot - both also shot by the uber talented Jeffery Chan Tin. Thanks to Jeffery for sharing the fun and frolics with us

Snowed In

Kat

December 19, 2009

So I'm sharing some of Kelty's work twice in two days but you'll forgive my repetition after you see these I'm sure. You have to understand, I couldn't hold off posting these until next week or something because England is currently covered in a blanket of snow so sharing these images right now is more than a little bit apt. You know Hannah & Alex. Their wedding rocked your socks off when I posted it in all it's glory back in September. So their anniversary shoot (as in anniversary of when they met up again after not seeing each other for 10 years aww!) covered in snow is just way to perfect not to post. There were strolls in the park, chased first kisses, prosciutto snacks, dog walks, a drive to the desert, and their first of many snowy Christmases in Portland together. The beginning of something wonderful, really. So they've donned their wedding gear and hit the slopes to celebrate their past, present, and future. Happy Anniversary, my loves! Thanks to Kelty, Hannah & Alex for rocking so damn hard. Credit: Steep Street

Old Hollywood, Mexican Punk Rock!

Kat

November 30, 2009

Summer & Christopher's wedding took place in July in a cemetery/mausoleum where the bride's mother works at their beautiful 1920's era chapel - certainly made for some awesome shots huh!? Summer told me: "It didn't bother us that the chapel had a mausoleum inside of it. It's not that we were being purposely macabre, but we both have an understanding of the cycle of life, and felt that it would be beautiful, appropriate, and romantic, to have our wedding in a place which encompassed beauty and history. It was also a nice tribute to my mom, who brought me up with the understanding that death is just another part of life"

Off the Hook Carnival Eye Candy

Kat

November 17, 2009

I knew Amy & Jesse's wedding would be off-the-hook with it's intense awesomeness as soon as I saw and blogged their engagements a while back. Surely a couple this offbeat and rockin' couldn't have anything but a super crazy, kooky, inspirational and incredible wedding day could they? However, even I was blown off my chair when I laid eyes on these little beauties. Their DIY, carnival wedding was not only ridiculously creative and awe-inspiring but the couple themselves literally looked like a candy covered explosion of kick ass attitude and fun all over! (By the way I fully realise that my explanation of my thoughts on this wedding probably make little or no grammatical and linguistical sense - however my intense excitement over getting to blog these appears to have rendered by logical brain dysfunctional!) Got it? Right...on with the show... A HUGE Rock n Roll thank you to Marina of Red Heart Photography for sending these over. I couldn't wait to blog these (as always) and so the photos below are actually only part 1 & 2 of her posts. Go check out her blog over the next few weeks for even more eye candy!
