Planning a wedding is bloody hard work and sometimes it can all get a bit too much. I'm sure you've stressed a little over flower arrangements, worried if your bridesmaids will like their dresses or navigated your way through more family issues than you even knew you had. Big weddings are wonderful occasions but I'm yet to meet a couple who haven't wondered at some point if that crazy idea to elope was really so crazy after all.

Gena and Lea were married on the beach in front of The Shoosh Club in Brighton. They wanted a fun and relaxed wedding and so after lunch and milkshakes at JB's Diner they booked the VIP area of the club for their after party! Neither venues needed decorating and he whole thing was cost effective and chilled out for the couple and their guests.

The day took place at The Star Inn in North Yorkshire, their guest list was limited and Emma bought and wore the very first dress she tried on. " What made our wedding so unique, was that we were sooo laid back about the whole thing", she explained."There were no 'bridezilla' moment and I only tried one dress on, my dress! Basically our day was about the three of us, we have a daughter, Noa who is 5. We did it our way with no bells or whistles. It was just relaxed, fun and full of love."

They called in favours, DIYed a LOT and made some clever and unusual choices in order to save money. Everything from the flowers, the cake, the DJ and the stationery were either DIYed by the couple or donated by friends.

They got together after chance meeting at Kate's Paperie in New York, a Craigslist 'Lost Connection' that actually worked and a long online relationship. After finally getting together and then getting engaged they planned the wedding in just three short months. "When planning the wedding I became charmed by the idea of parlour weddings, the way folks used to do it before the Big Business of weddings", Alison explained. "So we wanted to create the look and feel of a living room for ours. Far from it seeming like the couple had to make compromises, the ones I get to share always seem to prove that a small budget doesn't have to mean a budget-looking wedding. In my opinion it is actually often the weddings with the smaller budgets that seem to have the most heart, the most personal details and the most inspiring ideas.

For their March wedding, South Africans Angelo & Candice wanted a colourful day that oozed fun...so a rainbow theme it was! "Angelo and I are generally out of the box thinkers and the 'same old same old' wedding décor was not what we wanted", began the bride. "We knew we wanted colour and fun and we went from there. There were a few elements I needed to 'sell' to my parents but they went with most of my ideas (thankfully). Angelo and I are both involved in film and TV (Angelo is an actor and I am a Junior Creative Producer) so a strong film element had to be prevalent in our day. We had popcorn holding up our table numbers and a picture of a clapper board on our invites."

Spring has very much sprung over here in the UK. And as the daffodils start to line streets and parkways, I usually forgo featuring any obviously winter weddings. After all, who want to be reminded of the cold and bleak mid-winter when it's so glorious outside?! Well Meghann & Nathan's wedding was different. They were married in the Colorado Mountains, where snow is a pretty regular feature. They also had a steampunk theme and only spent $2000 on the day, making it a wedding that I just knew you guys would flip out about. So, yet again, my self-imposed rules are being broken today. Oh well!

Well that's exactly what Thomas & Kimberly did whilst on holiday in Belize. They were married, just the two of them, in the middle of the ocean, on a sandbar in Ambergris Caye.
