A French Resturant Wedding: Kat & Ton

Kat

November 29, 2012

Being massive foodies, Kat & Ton knew that serving a fantastic meal was high on their list of wedding day priorities. So for their reception venue they selected their favourite French restaurant in Brisbane, Montrachet. "In my opinion Montrachet is the best French restaurant in the city, and has been a family favourite for years", Kat told me. "Feeding our families and friends good food and wine was very important to us. The staff, both kitchen and front of house, made sure the night was perfect with superb food and exceptional service."

Kat

November 28, 2012

Oh rainbow weddings, how I adore you. To me, there's nothing more exciting than getting a wedding just like Brianna & Alex's in my inbox on a drizzly November morning. Talk about brightening up my whole week! The outdoor location is like a dream, and one that this gorgeous pair completely decorated themselves. They literally hand made everything - all the decor, the paper flowers and even the bride's and bridesmaid's dresses! Everything just works so well. The wedding was held at Canungra Valley Vineyards in Brisbane, Australia.

Backyard, Kewpie Doll Wedding: Sam & Brendan

Kat

November 15, 2012

Being parents to seven children, Sam & Brendan were always going to have a huge family-focused wedding. Their magical day was held in their backyard in Brisbane surrounded by their family and friends. The colourful wedding was laid back and fun and had a theme of kewpie dolls running throughout. They had them as favours, for the flowergirls to carry, nestled into the ceremony backdrop and even on the front of the wedding car!

Punk Rock Wedding: Lauren & Con

Kat

October 15, 2012

Being unapologetically punk rock in their everyday lives, having a punk themed wedding was really the only option for Lauren & Con, who tied the knot at Pavilion Gardens, Mt Tamborine, Australia. "We’re punks so we wanted to have a wedding we’d enjoy but still wanted it to be nice and have most of the usual wedding trimmings for both us and the family", Lauren wrote. "We weren't trying to do things differently on purpose, we just did things the way we wanted and it all turned out awesome."

DIY Farm Wedding & the Wedding Photographer who Captured the Milky Way: Shirley & Waz

Kat

October 9, 2012

You've probably seen one of Shirley & Waz' wedding photographs before, because it went kinda viral. Remember the wedding photograph that captured the actual milky way!? Yeah that one... (and if you didn't - and where have you been? - it's at the bottom of this post). Anyway after wedding photographer Lakshal Perera published that image and everyone calmed down and people stopped squealing "PhotoShop!" (it wasn't by the way) every single wedding blogger on the planet (probably) waited with baited breath to see the rest of the images. And jeez I nearly fell off my chair when Lakshal emailed me to ask if I'd like to be the blog to share it... erm... let me think about that for like 2 seconds... HELL YES PLEASE!

"We are ecstatic that Kat would like to feature us", began the bride, "I'm a massive fan of her blog and it was a huge inspiration to our wedding." (awwww!)

An Intimate Australian Wedding & A Bride in Blue: Fiona & Andrew

Kat

August 17, 2012

Fiona & Andrew's DIY wedding in Victoria, Australia was themed around the things they love - vintage items, 1950s styling, cherries, hearts and flowers. They took these ideas as the starting point and built their wedding around them. "We wanted the guests to be able to feel as much a part of the day as possible, hence the small guest list of only 45 and the extended weekend long celebration", began the bride. "We made a lot ourselves. I made a ring cushion from the same fabric as my sash/bolero and a piece of fabric from my mum's wedding dress. We had a ring warming ceremony before I arrived where the cushion was brought around my my 5 year old nephew, Oliver, and guests where asked to send a blessing our way."

A Black & White Rocker Wedding: Bodie & Beck

Kat

August 13, 2012

I have to say when I first laid eyes on Bodie & Beck's wedding I went all girlish and excited and started thinking very naughty thought about that party of groomsmen... I'm sorry, I'm sorry... but come on! How sexy are these boys? I even sneak peeked a shot of them on my facebook page (to share their beauty you understand) and... well... I've never seen so many smitten girls all in one place. It was pretty funny! So just when I thought it couldn't get any better, I saw the rest of the wedding! How gorgeous is the bride (hello tattoo envy anyone?!) In fact I just about cried with jealousy over how damn cool the whole thing is... and they are. I'm very professional indeed. I love this wedding more than life itself. Who's with me?

A Quirky New South Wales Wedding: Nat & Michael

Kat

June 27, 2012

The New South Wales wedding of Nat & Michael was full of quirky touches - starting with the bride's awesome pink & blue locks and 1930s wedding dress of course! "We really wanted to keep our wedding cool, calm and casual without missing out of a bit of glam and class!" the bride told me. "We stuck with the motto 'Our day, our way' and tried to make sure that it was just a bunch of fun for everyone. I was the boss of planning, but that didn't mean that Michael wasn't represented- I've been to plenty of weddings where it feels like the groom didn't get his say and we talked everything over and came to a consensus. Really the whole planning process was a breeze because I stayed really calm about everything and just let things happen naturally. There was only one 'freak out' moment in the whole year and a half we were engaged and that was about the boy's suits, they very nearly ended up without any because we had a hard time finding something that suited everyone. Everything just fell in to place, and I think it was because we didn't get our heart too set on anything and just went with the flow."

A DIY Vineyard Wedding: Christopher & Kerrie

Kat

June 16, 2012

For their vineyard wedding, Christopher & Kerrie wanted something kitsch, warm and welcoming but without being restricted by a particular theme. "We put in all the elements that were 'us' that blended well and looked good together", the bride told me. "I would say our wedding theme, if anything, was 'uniquely us'. We are young romantics, whimsical, mismatched and a bit scruffy, we are lazy Sunday afternoon tea on a patchwork quilt in the sun and piece of cake to take home with you."

A Queensland Library Wedding: Shaun & Kate

Kat

June 8, 2012

The State Library of Queensland proved to be the perfect wedding venue for bookworms Shaun & Kate. "We chose the State Library as we both really loved the space and as Shaun and I met over text books it seemed appropriate", Kate told me. "We incorporated book, paper and typographical elements where we could but tried to not go overboard with the theme. I like a bit a kitsch but there was a strict anti baby's breath policy!"

An Australian Wedding with Pops of Colour: Asha & Greg

Kat

May 4, 2012

I love when weddings with bright pops of colour like Asha & Greg's brighten up my inbox. They really do make me smile! However I love them even more when the people behind the wedding seem like just the kind of guys I'd like to be friends with...if only they didn't live in Australia! "We didn't have a theme as such because we didn't want to confine our choices," Asha told me. "We found things we liked, which suited our style, and I suppose a loose theme just organically grew from there. My parents collect a lot of old antique trinkets so we used those as the starting point for our reception decorations and added lots of bright fresh flowers. We also wanted to incorporate some music references because music is what really brought us together."

Kat

April 20, 2012

Ruby & Emmanuel's sweet wedding took place on a private residence in Adelaide. The bride wore a 1930s vintage wedding gown with a vintage headpiece. Even her bridesmaids wore vintage dresses. The couple locally sourced things where they could including the food their served and the flowers the used to decorate the marquee. The bride's sister made all their stationery and paper goods. The wedding was a really personal and intimate affair. "Our focus was really just on our family," the bride explained. "We handcrafted our wedding with, of course, some true vintage touches."

A DIY & Foodie Wedding: Kathryn & James

Kat

April 12, 2012

Kathryn & James' wedding is one of those beautiful events that just prove to me that the details, the fluff and the stresses of making your wedding 'cool' just don't matter. Simple personal touches, friends, family, laughter and love are what make the world go round - why should it be any different for wedding? I fell in love with this couple as soon as I saw the first photo in their wedding set. The love that oozes from these two is palpable and I'm seriously honoured and thrilled to share that love with you all today.
