With a bit of Sargent Pepper, a dash of class and a touch of retro, Samantha and James planned their Rock n Roll wedding for February this year. The day started out at
Melbourne Zoo for the ceremony and concluded at Half Moon, a restaurant in Brighton, Victoria.
“James had been married before so all we wanted from the day was for it to reflect us, for everyone to have some yummy food and drinks and dance all night”, Samantha explained. “It wasn’t a traditional wedding – which was important to us. We both have such a strong love of life and having fun so we selected things that would keep our guests smiling. Both of James’ parents have passed away and my father had passed too, it was important to make the day a happy one and show everyone how important it is to make the most of everyday and laugh and smile.”
“Getting married in the zoo was incredible! We rocked up in a camper van and were married under the most amazing tree, a heritage listed Morton Bay Fig Tree. I walked down the aisle to a cover of ‘Sea of Love’ performed by Cat Power to a very smiley husband to be.”

Powerful Mt Warning Wedding, 100 Bridesmaids & Flower Crowns for all: Polly & Jamie
June 10, 2013
People often ask me if I ever get bored of blogging about weddings. I can see why because usually once you've been doing something - anything - for as long as I have been doing this, it's natural to think that you might start to become a little 'over' it. So while I'm not going to pretend that I'm always thrilled, overjoyed and amazed by every wedding that graces my inbox, I can safely say that I am probably as far from 'over' this job as I could be... especially when I get sent images like Polly and Jamie's wedding to drool over.
The ‘Maritime Goth’ Themed Wedding of Jessica & Winston McCall
September 29, 2014
When wedding photographer Matt Miller emailed me to tell me he'd shot the wedding of Winston McCall, lead singer of Australian metalcore band Parkway Drive, and asking if I'd like to feature it, I nearly fell off my chair. "Er... stupid question!" I replied, "OF COURSE!" He married his high school sweetheart, Jessica, in beautiful Byron Bay on May 11th this year.
Emotional DIY Kawaii Wedding: Talia & Zac
March 18, 2013
Isn't it funny when two of your worlds collide? I've been stalking following Talia on Instagram for ages (I love love love her cute kawaii style!) and so when I received their wedding photographs from Eric Roland I literally jumped up and down with glee! I knew this wedding was going to be awesome from the few sneaks I'd seen on her feed but I was little prepared for this level of amazement...

A TARDIS, A Doily Wedding Dress & A Torrential Downpour: Ben & Ang
I Got You Babe Wedding
May 29, 2013
The creativity of the weddings I get to feature never fails to astound me. I know I say this a lot but my readers are, without a doubt, the coolest people on the planet. Today's wedding does nothing to dissuade me from this fact. There is not one thing that I don't think is perfect about this, and weirdly, even the post-ceremony rain storm adds an extra layer of cool. The fact that all the guests worked together to move everything inside while Ben and Ang were off having their portraits done just shows how much love surrounds these two.
An Intimate Australian Wedding & A Bride in Blue: Fiona & Andrew
August 17, 2012
Fiona & Andrew's DIY wedding in Victoria, Australia was themed around the things they love - vintage items, 1950s styling, cherries, hearts and flowers. They took these ideas as the starting point and built their wedding around them. "We wanted the guests to be able to feel as much a part of the day as possible, hence the small guest list of only 45 and the extended weekend long celebration", began the bride. "We made a lot ourselves. I made a ring cushion from the same fabric as my sash/bolero and a piece of fabric from my mum's wedding dress. We had a ring warming ceremony before I arrived where the cushion was brought around my my 5 year old nephew, Oliver, and guests where asked to send a blessing our way."
Rainbow DIY Wedding in a Vineyard: Brianna & Alex
November 28, 2012
Oh rainbow weddings, how I adore you. To me, there's nothing more exciting than getting a wedding just like Brianna & Alex's in my inbox on a drizzly November morning. Talk about brightening up my whole week!
The outdoor location is like a dream, and one that this gorgeous pair completely decorated themselves. They literally hand made everything - all the decor, the paper flowers and even the bride's and bridesmaid's dresses! Everything just works so well. The wedding was held at Canungra Valley Vineyards in Brisbane, Australia.
DIY Farm Wedding & the Wedding Photographer who Captured the Milky Way: Shirley & Waz
October 9, 2012
You've probably seen one of Shirley & Waz' wedding photographs before, because it went kinda viral. Remember the wedding photograph that captured the actual milky way!? Yeah that one... (and if you didn't - and where have you been? - it's at the bottom of this post). Anyway after wedding photographer Lakshal Perera published that image and everyone calmed down and people stopped squealing "PhotoShop!" (it wasn't by the way) every single wedding blogger on the planet (probably) waited with baited breath to see the rest of the images. And jeez I nearly fell off my chair when Lakshal emailed me to ask if I'd like to be the blog to share it... erm... let me think about that for like 2 seconds... HELL YES PLEASE!
