Suzi and Spencer's Madonna Inn wedding was inspired by all the things they love, "Persian-American mod-podged in glitter and influenced by kawaii" was how they described it to me! A lot of things they made themselves included the glittery table numbers and escort cards and the brooch flowers used in with the real flowers in the bouquets and centrepieces!Read more...

Lauren and Ralf had a Dia de Los Muertos themed wedding in a goth club. Both the bride and groom even wore face paint! "Our wedding was unique not only because of the theme, location and decorations, but because we went with a mixed wedding party. I did not have a maid-of-honor; I had a man-of-honor. Ralf had a best man and a groomswoman. Also, due to the small size of our wedding party, we all go ready together in the same space at our venue. I'm not superstitious, so it didn't matter to me if I was seen in my dress before walking down the aisle. But getting ready together made things all the more fun."Read more...

One of the questions I hate the most, but I'm inevitably always asked whenever I'm interviewed, is "What are the big wedding trends for this season?" It seems to be the thing everyone wants to know about, but for me, it's the one aspect of wedding planning that I'm least concerned about. In fact the whole notion of it kinda bothers me.Read more...

Adam and Meghan wanted to find a suitably Rock n Roll venue for their alternative wedding in Pheonix. After a long search they eventually came across The Duce which ticked all their boxes! "We wanted the wedding to let us shine through", began the bride. "We didn't want a particular theme. When we were looking at wedding venues, we wanted something that was already us. In Phoenix, there are tons of country clubs and botanical gardens. But none of that really fit who Adam and I are. It was to the point that it was bumming us out that we weren't able to find something in our budget that fit us. We had heard about The Duce through a friend, so we went to check it out."Read more...

I don't think there's a style of wedding that epitomises a Rock n Roll wedding more than a black, white and red colour scheme and a 1950s theme! Lidia and Joaquín's nuptials were held in La Quinta de Illescas, Toledo, Spain.Read more...

This week started with an Easter egg hunt around my parent's back garden. Yes, my sisters and I might be 26, 28 and 30 respectively, but that didn't stop us - it all got very competitive! I also did a super fun shoot for Claire's on Tuesday at my house, the results of which I'll be sharing really soon. AND tomorrow I'm heading over to The Big Smoke to shoot up a storm with my buddy Chris Barber. It's all go go go in Rock n Roll Bride land!Read more...

I've heard way too many stories from people who've had to postpone or even cancel getting married simply because they couldn't afford it. That makes me so very sad. Of course the amount you spend has less than zero indication on how awesome your marriage will be, but if you have little or no savings, even a completely budget wedding can be out of the question.Read more...

Last Thursday I heard the sad news that the shopping channel I used to work for went into administration. Everyone was called up that morning and told not to come into work. They all lost their jobs with immediate effect. Although from the outside looking in it wasn't a massive surprise (there'd be whisperings of it 'being near the end' for years, even before I left in 2011) I was genuinely gutted. Gutted for all my friends who now found themselves unemployed, but also really sad that the place that gave me my first 'proper' job was no more.Read more...

Stephanie and Rob's wedding was nearly all handmade. They wanted it to have a laid back and unfussy feel but for it to be a little bit fancy. One of the biggest projects for the wedding was Stephanie's dress, which she knitted herself! "I designed and hand knit my dress from linen and cashmere yarn", she explained. "I used some turn of the 20th century gowns for inspiration, particularly for the shape of the skirt, and combined a variety of related lace patterns. I was really, really happy with how it turned out, but I think the mirroring of the pattern on the waistband is my favorite part."Read more...

Harry and Vanessa's barn wedding took place in September. The day was relaxed, fun and geeky, they also had a cheerful blue and yellow colour scheme. "We gave up on picking or really sticking to a particular theme", wrote the bride, "instead we just used anything we liked – it was much easier that way, and felt a lot more personal!"Read more...

Ames and Tel met when they were twelve, at school. Needless to say it wasn't love at first sight! However eleven years later they virtually bumped into each other on MySpace and saw each other on a few nights out. Shortly after that they started dating. "We didn't set out with a theme in mind for our wedding, we just knew we wanted a laid back relaxed do with close friends and family", Ames explained. "We didn't have much money to spend (our budget was £3000) so we wanted to do as much ourselves as we could. I think in the end we had a laid back, homemade vintage feel to the day."Read more...

When people asked you what you wanted to do when you grew up, I'd imagine that not a lot of you said "work in an office", or "stack shelves in retail..." If you were anything like me, you didn't quite know where you would end up, but you knew it was going to be anything but a boring career. Ballerina, artist, journalist and film critic were all on my list at one point or another... What about you?Read more...
