If there’s one thing I love it’s COLOUR – and lots of it – so when photographer
Rebecca Douglas sent over this wedding inspiration shoot, I couldn’t really turn down the opportunity to feature it. Styled by Jenny Sinclair of Bellaboo and Beau, this shoot was inspired by a neon colour palette and the tropics.
“I first had the idea for this shoot about five months ago”, explained Jenny. “I woke from a tropical neon dream, literally, and rang Rebecca Douglas straight away. Our combined passions for neon and birds led me to set the style. I am a lover of the bright, the bold and the ballsy and as the last five months have gone by I have been increasingly inspired by the tropical and tribal patterns, trends and colours that have come about in the fashion world.”
“Although we work primarily within the wedding industry, this shoot was always going to be more of a fashion-led one, with a stunning Native American model in a non-wedding dress made by herself, a floral tribal-esque necklace to replace the classic bridal bouquet and hot pink feathered eyelashes!”
“The concept was then emphasised with the use of prop styling and dressing by myself, including neon beaded backdrops, cocktail umbrella letters, rainforest table settings and a giant birdcage sourced from the lovely Scotts of Margate.”

Neutral & Neon Bridal Style
January 11, 2013
Inspiration can hit you anywhere, and for wedding photographer Lindsay Hite, it came while flicking through a fashion magazine. "The trend neutral colors paired with neon in fashion really spoke to me", she told me. "I love the almost surprising contrast between subtlety and outspokenness and was curious about how it would work in a bridal setting. I drew inspiration from far flung corners - from Lana del Rey's flower crowns, to bright bold colors of childhood celebrations and vintage circuses."

When it comes to me accepting submissions to feature on this blog, I always ask myself the same two simple questions: Will my readers like this? And are there ideas in here that people can actually apply to their own weddings? More and more these days, I'm only able to answer yes to both these questions with the real weddings I'm sent. However sometimes, just sometimes, a styled wedding shoot fits the bill as well.
John Waters and Pink Flamingo Inspired Same Sex Wedding Shoot
February 25, 2014
Coming across the most amazingly colourful house by chance one day, wedding photographer Shannon Collins dreamed of being able to do a shoot there. Well fate stepped in, making it a possibility, so she knew she had to make it extra magical!
"Last year, I was photographing a couple in Philadelphia for an engagement shoot", wrote Shannon. "On my way home, a few minutes from the location, I drove past a lovely yellow house with tons of pink flamingos scattered across the lawn. I screeched my brakes and drove in reverse so I could capture a quick snapshot of the house. It instantly reminded me of the John Waters film, 'Pink Flamingos' and made me smile."
