Thursday Treats: Two Blogcademy Workshops, A Mixer & A Whirlwind Week in London!

Greetings and salutations from our AirB&B digs in North London. This week has been crazy… in the best possible way! Over the weekend Gala, Shauna and I taught our first London Blogcademy workshop, which was of course fabulous (the London babes always BRING IT!) followed by our second packed class on Tuesday and Wednesday. We had a photo booth, delicious cupcakes and treats, and near tropical temperatures!

Goodness, the UK really is not set to deal with unseasonably warm temperatures (even though it is Summer, 30+°C is extra HOT for England!) We sweated as we spoke about all things blogging and business for two days straight, but I almost didn’t notice because I was having such an awesome time. On Friday we jet off to Berlin for our next class and I genuinely can not wait to do it all over again!

But that’s not all, today is our first ever Blogcademy mixer party! It’s something we’ve never done before, and I’m not going to lie, keeping the organisational wheels in motion while there’s been so much else going on has a LITTLE on the stressful side. But it will all be worth it when we’re meeting our party-goers, sipping ice cold cocktails from Pig’s Bladder and Petticoat and using and abusing our Fishee Designs photo booth.

Now excuse me, I must dash, it’s time for me to go and panic over my outfit!

Thursday Treats: A Very English Week

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Bright and early Tuesday morning, Gala and Shauna arrived in the UK. Since then we’ve been keeping things relatively low key, spending most of our time here, drinking tea and watching Paris Hilton’s British Best Friend (don’t ask!) The real madness starts tomorrow though and doesn’t stop until the first week of August!

We teach the London Blogcademy class this weekend, followed by another during the week and then host our first ever mixer event on the 24th! I’m so excited about the latter and I’m currently running a contest to give away a pair of tickets. I’d love to see your face there. Come on, don’t be shy…

Last week I also finally took the plunge and bought myself a new camera. I’ve been using a Canon 500d with a 50mm lens for the past few years. It’s a great SLR but it’s just so cumbersome that I would never want to carry it with me. After hearing amazing things about the new Samsung NX3000 I knew I had to have one. It’s lightweight, easy to throw in my bag and comes with removable lenses. It also has some pretty nifty features like being able to transfer the images straight to my phone over it’s built in wifi – whoa magic! – and the ability to take selfies by winking (that’s a blogger’s dream right there!) Expect to see a lot more self-shot photos around these parts…

This week has been really quiet online, hence the slightly shorter edition this week. I guess everyone’s been out enjoying the sunshine!

Thursday Treats: Always the Bride, Never the Bridesmaid…

groovy love

Two very exciting things happened this week. On Wednesday my best friend from Uni came to stay. I haven’t seen her in SO LONG (like, a criminally long time) and it was bloody amazing to hang out. You know those friends who even if you don’t see each other for ages when you finally do it’s like no time has past? That’s exactly what it’s like with Carly. I’m so happy to have her in my life. We drank cocktails, went shopping, we played The Logo Board Game (nerd and proud!) … But the most exciting thing was that she asked me to be her bridesmaid!!  Can you believe I’ve never been one before? Ahh double excitement!

The other pretty awesome development of the week was that Rock n Roll Bride has been shortlisted as Best Wedding Blog at the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards! Now I don’t normally give two hoots about awards, but there’s something so extra special about being noted by such a huge publication. It’s a cheesy cliché but it really is an honour. If you could take five seconds out of your day to vote for me to win I will love you forever!

In other news, Gala and Shauna come to the UK for our next round of Blogcademy workshops NEXT TUESDAY! Ahh oh my goodness where is this year going?

Thursday Treats: Lucky

lucky neon sign

This week I did my first solo livestream, was interviewed by BBC online for a feature on blogging and chatted to Anne Diamond on BBC Radio Berkshire! Phew!

Other than that I’ve really just been gearing up to hit the road with The Blogcademy again this month. Our first stop off is London (yay!) for two workshops and our mixer event before we head over to Europe to do workshops in Berlin and Amsterdam.

It’s all go, go, go as usual and I really couldn’t be happier. In fact I feel so incredibly lucky that this is my life right now.

OH! And happy 4th of July to my American readers for tomorrow. I hope you have a glorious one.

Thursday Treats: Rainbow Magic!

Rainbow Rock n Roll Bride

I was so excited to speak at Cosmopolitan’s Superblogger’s Masterclass on Monday, especially as Gareth and Lisa were coming along too. It’s so much more fun when you rock up with an entourage! I jest of course, but Lisa did bring her camera with her and before jumping onto the stage we had a play with coloured gels and in-camera double exposures.

Aren’t these so fun?

The event was amazing. The 200 strong audience were friendly and excitable, and any nerves I had went away as soon as I saw their happy, beaming faces in front of me. I even managed to get a few laughs which in my book means a job well done! Meeting so many of them afterwards and hearing about their plans and ideas is so inspiring !

It was such a fun way to spend a Monday evening. You can read a little more about what went on over at Cosmo’s blog.

In other news, don’t forget about my first (eeek!) solo livestream which I’m doing on Sunday afternoon! From 4pm GMT I’ll be tackling as many wedding planning questions as possible. Be sure to RSVP to the event beforehand and if you want you can submit your questions ahead of time too. Just hit the Q&A button.

I (nervously) can’t wait!

Thursday Treats: Canada, Britmums & Cosmo!

It’s so good to be home! Of course I’ve come back to a messy house, a terrifyingly long to do list, and a huge pile of dirty laundry, but it feels GOOD. My trip to Canada was amazing, we had a blast, but is sure is nice to be back in familiar surroundings. AND THOSE KITTIES OF MINE, oh I swear they got even more gorgeous while I was away.

Before we move on I just have to show you the silliness that we got up to in Vancouver and Calgary. From games of Jenga over dinner, to dancing on the rainbow crosswalk and making new doggie best friends, Canada sure did show us a damn good time.

Aww! I always miss Gala and Shauna so much when we’re ripped apart. I don’t have very long to wait to see them again though because our next Blogcademy workshops are in Europe! We’re doing two classes in London in July, one in Berlin and another in Amsterdam! AND, don’t forget, we have our mixer event in London on July 24th. I’d love to see you there!

Wait a sec, still have some more to share with you (goodness, it never ends!) I’ll be at BritMums this weekend speaking about working with Etsy. Collaborating with them is something I’ve only recently started to do, but it’s been going so well. I’ll be speaking about exactly what it entails, sharing how it’s increased my income and letting you in on some ways that you can do the same. My slot is on Saturday at 11.30am.

If you’re not a mummy blogger and Britmums doesn’t appeal to you (yes, I find it weirdly ironic that I’ve been asked to speak there too!), then I’m also going to be on the panel at the Cosmopolitan Superblogger Masterclass on Monday June 23rd. Tickets are just £30 and a little birdy tells me there are a few still available. I spoke at the Masterclass last year too and it was one of my 2013 highlights. It’s such a fun event and I can’t wait to do it again!
