A Punk Rock Kinda Day

Kat

April 23, 2010

The majority of the weddings and photo shoots I feature are sent to be by photographers or recently married couples, however occasionally I'll come across a session so damn cool that I have to email the photographer right away and demand to feature it! This was one of those sessions. I'd followed William Massey's work through a group on flickr for a while now yet it was only now that I really stood up and took notice. Philip & Anela were one of those couples that I instantly knew would suit Rock n Roll Bride to a tee - punky, retro, vintage, quirky, cool...they suited all these words that I overuse everyday on my blog.

Naomi, Josh & Kingsley

Kat

April 13, 2010

Oh I have been so excited about sharing this shoot with you all! I'm sure most of you will be familiar with this gorgeous little family. Naomi is the beautiful girl behind the uber popular Rockstar Diaries blog and her husband Josh and their new dog Kingsley play a staring role in it. These guys really are wonderful people. Sweet, kind and darling. Their blog posts never fail to cheer me and they just seem so genuinely LOVELY! OK enough gushing...you're going to adore these images taken at the DC Cherry Blossom Festival by their wedding photographer Leo Patrone(who I'm hoping to meet when he comes over to London soon!) The light, the colours, the fashion, the fun and lurrrve...aww just so perfect.

Creativity Running Wild

Kat

March 31, 2010

I have to be honest, I've been gagging to share Aubrey & Marshall's wedding ever since photographer's Stacie & Geoffrey (you may remember them from their own - way too damn cool wedding) sent me a sneak peek...not only because of how rad this wedding actually is, but because I have secretly been harboring a photographic crush on Lang Photographers (I'm probably their biggest Twitter stalker!) Aubrey & Marshall diy-ed their whole wedding with very little budget - they just let their creativity run wild! Everything from the origami to the curtain, from the invitation to the pinwheels was constructed and created by the pair and I am dying over here! Oh tell me your love it as much as I do...

A Truly Personal Affair

Kat

March 10, 2010

Emily & Rodolfo's sunny Chilean wedding sung to me with happiness! Now I understand that doesn't really make grammatical sense to anyone other than myself, but the yellow theme and perfectly personal vibe of this day really made me happpieee. The photography was done by the couple's good friend Kyle Hepp and Emily's crazy-stunning dress was made especially for her by a local seamstress. Her hair & make up were done by her Aunt, the flowers were donated by friends and the tent was built by her Uncles - a truly personal and family affair!

Hell Yeah Balloons are Punk Rock

Kat

February 2, 2010

Anthony & Shealyn were actually not engaged at the time the session took place. However, just a week after the shoot they realized that they just could not live without each other and got engaged! Photographer Sheri told me all about the day: Other than specifying that they'd like incorporate purple balloons (which Anthony brought to Shealyn on their first date) we were left to our own creative devices. I was inspired by their edgy style and chose backdrops that would make them pop. I like the contrast of their hard, black style against the softness of the beach and the lightheartedness of the balloons. We walked back to their apartment and they suggested hopping into the pool... mind you this was early January and cold even by San Diego standards. Thanks to Sheri for sharing these shoot with us...and I have to say I totally love Shealyn's dress which actually came from the Miley Cyrus/Max Azria for Wal-Mart! Rock n Roll indeedy. Speakeasy Swing Wedding

Kat

January 26, 2010

I've got a feeling you're going to love this detail-heavy dance-fest. The moody light, the swing band, the bride in her stunning yellow gown, the cupcakes, the portraits...yep this is one pretty damn cool wedding. Andrew & Aye got married atThe Thaxton in Louis, MO. They converted the indie venue into their speakeasy and swing-dance themed wedding. Both the bride & groom wore custom made outfits - the dress was made by Toni Whitaker and his suit was by Duchess Clothier. The fabulousKim Massie band provided the entertainment. Thursday Treats – 14th Jan 2010

Kat

January 14, 2010

Those who follow me on Twitter and Facebook will know I've had a rough few days of late. I've been letting things (or should I say certain people!) get to me and it must stop! Arrgh... so I apologise for that right now. However, in a much more positive vein, I am very excited to get going with this week's Thursday Treats as it always cheers me to share such internet wonderfulness with you all, my dear readers and loyal fans :P ♥ First off - erm..hello? How fabulous are the photos at the top of this post? It was taken by the amazingly fun, cool, quirky and chatty Leah McCormick who I was lucky enough to meet on a cold day in London just before Christmas. I took her for a walk around Soho and down Carnaby Street where she went nuts over the Christmas decorations. Well they are pretty gorgeous aren't they? ♥ 10 of the weirdest wedding invitations - I think they're all pretty damn cool actually!

Off the Hook Carnival Eye Candy

Kat

November 17, 2009

I knew Amy & Jesse's wedding would be off-the-hook with it's intense awesomeness as soon as I saw and blogged their engagements a while back. Surely a couple this offbeat and rockin' couldn't have anything but a super crazy, kooky, inspirational and incredible wedding day could they? However, even I was blown off my chair when I laid eyes on these little beauties. Their DIY, carnival wedding was not only ridiculously creative and awe-inspiring but the couple themselves literally looked like a candy covered explosion of kick ass attitude and fun all over! (By the way I fully realise that my explanation of my thoughts on this wedding probably make little or no grammatical and linguistical sense - however my intense excitement over getting to blog these appears to have rendered by logical brain dysfunctional!) Got it? Right...on with the show... A HUGE Rock n Roll thank you to Marina of Red Heart Photography for sending these over. I couldn't wait to blog these (as always) and so the photos below are actually only part 1 & 2 of her posts. Go check out her blog over the next few weeks for even more eye candy!

Ruffled

Kat

October 28, 2009

You lucky lucky things, I have a couple of ridiculously gorgeous ruffled dresses to share with you today, starting with this yellow beauty. Photographer Apryl deemed Rock n Roll Bride worthy of being the first blog to share her work...like, ever. How awesome is that? Oh...and how awesome are these?! The dress, a Clifton Wilhite original found at Junkadoodle was a bit of a mess when they found it, however Apryl and her team, including Katie (who played model for the day) & Sally from Revolution Gardenwho supplied the masquerade masks cleaned it up and rocked out to get these amazing shots. Truly inspiring! Thanks to Apryl for sharing these. I can not wait to see more from you in future!

Screamingly Awesome

Kat

October 20, 2009

Remember Keith & Rachel's screamingly (yes I did just make that word up) awesome engagement session? well oh oh oh here comes the wedding! Yeeeeey...baby I love them - the dress, the tattoos, the succulents, the lanterns, the location (they got married under the same tree that they had their engagement shoot at), the cupcakes and the simple and beautiful yellow flower in her hair. Yes, I think I'm pretty much crazy about these! Thanks to the ever delightful Corin for sending these over and to Keith & Rachel for being just way too cool Credit: Corin Jones Photography

Wed Like Rockstars

Kat

October 19, 2009

I'm sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these - hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It's worth the wait though I assure you. Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn't even want to shave on the day - he rocked it though right!? So without further ado...prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I've seen one. Again, thanks to Dani for sharing these...I feel so lucky to be the blog to bring them to you!
