Slightly Damp but Oh-So-Gorgeous Engagement Session

Maura & John’s slightly damp, slightly vintage and more than slightly gorgeous engagement session is totally inspiring! I love how they incorporated the things they love into the shoot – they collect old schwinn bikes, love going for bike rides and are crazy about all things vintage/retro/antique so they used some antique china for a mini picnic setting. Cuteness.

A Non-Traditional, Family Central, Urban & Industrial LA Wedding

Shannon & Os are both part-time photographers so their wedding photography was really important to them, they found Australian Annevi who came to LA to shoot their informal wedding. They decided to hold their ceremony and reception in Barbara’s at the Brewery, Los Angeles. The Brewery is known as the world’s largest live-work art colony and offers amazing industrial landscapes and interesting backdrops. So, of course that’s where they decided to shoot all their portraits.

They decided to skip a lot of the traditional stuff they didn’t have a lot of meaning to them so they didn’t have any catering in favour of a more casual Sunday picnic, where the guests brought food, cake and dessert dishes to share. They also abandoned the idea to have flowers as they felt they didn’t really suit them or their industrial setting. The bride wore a non traditional dress, a yellow number from Tahari by Arthur S. Levine teamed with white converse. She used her jewellery as a way to represent the people that couldn’t travel to be at their wedding – her bracelet was designed by her mother, her earrings and necklace were from her mother-in-law and an antique handkerchief from her great grandmother (price tag still on it: Famous and Barr 25 cents.) The groom dresses in a similarly non traditional fashion – his jacket was from a charity shop, his shirt and jeans were items he already had in his wardrobe and his braces/suspenders where from his father in law. He also wore red PF Flyers “guaranteed to make a kid run faster and jump higher.”

Pure (Feather) Love

Emma Case is my home-girl. I love her. She is a massive (and I mean crazy massive, like totally obsessed) fan of Featherlove Photography so when she found out that Noa was over in London in April, she jumped at the chance to do an engagement shoot with her fiance Pete. As soon as Emma told me of her plans I immediately ‘bagsied’ the images for featuring as I knew, even without seeing a single frame or knowing the premise of the  shoot that they would be awesome…and boy how right I was!

I asked Emma this morning if there was anything she wanted me to add to this post and she simply replied “The only thing I would like to add is a big fat thank you to Pete. I cannot begin to explain how supportive he has been over the past six months. I love him with all my heart and he’s so friggin’ hot in these pictures it’s unreal!!” So much cuteness. Now hurry up and get married you guys. I’m waiting for my invite in the post damnit!

A Pop of Colour

I love Jeff & Manya’s wedding for so many reasons. The first has got to be Manya’s gorgeous ‘MacKenzie’ Modern Trousseau dress complete with swarovski crystal belt, Betsey Johnson shoes and hair piece by Lani Fisher (who works with Jill of Darling Bride who did her hair) and the second is those gorgeous flowers by Jen K Floral Designs. Seriously, aren’t those yellows just amaaazing. The wedding overall had a yellow and blue theme – and it really works! The colours of the bridesmaids dresses looks awesome next to the uber ‘pop’ of the citrus blooms…and don’t even get my started on Manya’s fuchsia pink lipstick. Epic!

Three Dresses & The Wedding of the Century {part 2}

Is your mind ready to be blown?!

 Half way through the reception, Kestrin changed into a green vintage number. Made by Rebellion Dogs, Kestrin said: “It felt like I was wearing a ladybug tutu, an absolute dream.” She found it on a whim, just before the wedding, at Talun on Echo Park Blvd in LA..

Day 2 of the wedding started out early, at Palace Hotel, San Fransisco and after finding some cute vintage  pantaloons, she and photographer Noa embarked on an impromptu 10 minute boudoir sesh! They them got dressed up again in their glad rags and headed to the Day 2 reception which was held at Flora Grubb Gardens in San Francisco, an exquisite plant and tree store run by Jonathan’s older sister. About 300 guests attended.

Sunshine of my Life

Las Vegas strip, yellow sundress love, tattooed back gorgeousness.

Monique & Dustin were already married but they acted as models in Vegas for a WPPI ‘shoot out’ and luckily for them one of the photographers was the fabulous NJ based Feuza Reis.  I love the epic sunshine in these shots, mirrored by their yellow outfits.
