Thursday Treats: …On a Friday

its the flash pack rocknrollbride

No, you haven’t gone all Marty McFly and been transported back 24 hours, I really am posting Thursday Treats on a Friday this week. It’s because I’ve been at Carly and Tom’s three-day house party wedding in Somerset since Tuesday so there was no time for internet browsing or link compiling!

As you can see I used and abused the photo booth somewhat… some things just never change. The fact that there was a blue wig in the prop box entertained me endlessly. It took quite some convincing to get Gareth to put it on for a photo but I think you’ll agree it was so worth it! Thanks to The Flash Pack for keeping the whole wedding entertained and laughing hilariously all night long! And if anyone is wondering, my bridesmaid dress was from Maid to Measure. Aww, aren’t weddings just the best ever!?

In other news, the pre-order and subscriber copies of Issue 5 are showing up our office (translation: our tiny two up/two down house – eek!) today and we’ll be starting to pack and ship them out this weekend! If you want to guarantee you nab a copy and maybe even get it before they hit stores on the 10th, you should definitely order one today.

rocknrollbridemagazine issue 5 (13)

Did you catch the news this week? Rock n Roll Bride magazine issue 5 is now available for pre-order AND you can now subscribe if you like too! All the info can be found in Monday’s post. Hundreds of you have already done so, so if you’d like to guarantee you’ll get your mitts on a copy, reserve yours today!

Issue 5 isn’t in stores until November 10th but of course I’ve already been working on issue 6 for the past few weeks. It’s a crazy, never-ending treadmill but I love it. I never started this blog to turn it into a magazine and there is nothing more insane to me that it’s ended up that way. Gareth actually said to me this week, “Sometimes it really hits me that we have a magazine and it’s in shops and that’s really weird. How did that ever happen?” And I couldn’t agree more… I really have no idea!

Let’s see what else has been going on online this week shall we?

Thursday Treats: I Did It!

way up north 2015 (1)

Hampus Öberg

Last week I spoke at and attended Way Up North, Europe’s first major summit for wedding photographers in Stockholm, Sweden. It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but also one of the most incredible.

Being in a line up of astounding photographers such as Jasmine Star, Jonas Peterson, Andria Lindqusit, Fer Juaristi, Ed Peers, Erin & Ben Chrisman, James Moes, Samm Blake and Nessa K isn’t something I would ever have dared to dream could happen to me. In fact, just thinking about it now makes my head spin.

I was going to write a lengthy article about everything I took from those two days but ironically (since I was speaking about the power of blogging!) the words just wouldn’t come. Not wanting to miss anything important out I felt paralysed and found it impossible to even begin my post.

So let’s just say that it was wonderful. I didn’t expect to learn so much from the other speakers (not being a wedding photographer and all) but I did. So much. I faced my fears… I laughed… I even cried a little bit. If you want to know just how amazing it was… well, you’ll have to come along next time.

To Cole and Jakob, who organised the whole thing, THANK YOU. Thank for you asking me to be involved, thank you for believing in me, thank you for your kind words before, during and after.

Way Up North 2015, you were a life-defining moment. I will always think back to those two days with astonishment that it happened, joy that I faced my fears, and exhilaration at the enormity of it all.

Thursday Treats: The Excitement is Real!

Happy Thursday babes! I hope you’ve all had a fabulous week, even if the weather has been as shithouse around your parts as it has been around mine. It’s definitely Autumn now huh!?

This past seven days I’ve basically been doing the same thing as last week – freaking out/ preparing for my talk at Way Up North and finishing issue 5 of the magazine. Not long now! We go to print next week and it’s on sale November 5th. I can’t wait for you to see the new issue, I’m probably going to say this every single time but I think it’s the best one yet. Yep, the excitement is real!

I don’t have a lot of links for you today. I’ve been spending most of my time manically working so I haven’t been mooching about online much, but a small selection of links is better than no links at all, right?

Thursday Treats: Summer Is Most Definitely Over

Processed with VSCOcam with 4 preset

Jumper by Gypsy Warrior

Summer is most definitely over, and while I’m not one of those people that gets super excited for ‘Fall’ (I think pumpkin spiced anything is gross) I am looking forward to being able to wear layers and for rocking dark, dark lipstick on a daily basis to be acceptable again!

This week has been pretty insane. Along with coming back from my trip and doing all the catch up involved with that, I’ve been finalising everything for the next issue of the magazine (on sale November 5th, put the date in your diary!) and preparing for Way Up North, a photography conference that I’m speaking at in Sweden in two weeks time. Eeek, what was I thinking!? 500+ photographers staring at me while I advise them on blogging? Not terrifying at all.

As it’s the first Thursday Treats in three weeks I have more than the usual number of links to keep you entertained. So grab an extra large cup of tea and dive right in to this bumper edition of internet loveliness!

Thursday Treats: Aaand I’m off!

Death to the Stock Photo

I hope you’ve all had a fabulous week. Have you managed to nab yourself a copy of Rock n Roll Bride magazine yet? It’s been SO EXCITING seeing all your posts on Instagram, it makes me so incredibly happy, I can’t even tell you.

As you read this I’ll be boarding my flight to San Francisco where I’m heading for the penultimate Blogcademy workshop this weekend. I’m then off to New York for the last ever class (sob!) but not before stopping off in Orlando for a celebratory blow out at Disneyworld! I’ve never been and I’m super, duper excited. Has anyone got any tips for me? I’ve heard it’s as big as some American cities and my brain just can’t comprehend that scale!

As always, the blog schedule will be a little lighter while I’m away but you can follow along with my adventures on Instagram if that kinda thing takes your fancy. Have a great couple of weeks and I’ll see you on the other side!
