There are just some couples that you can only describe as utterly cute, and Lindsey & Noah are certainly that! They chose The Sons of Hermann Hall, a historical building in downtown Dallas, TX as their venue because it is one of their favourite places to go and see live music.

Lindsey wore an unusual and fabulous dress, designed and made by her Mother. For the ceremony, the dress was full-length but for the party, the some of the bottom tiers were removed to create this cute, short and sassy number (seriously, love this idea!) “I looked at the big bridal stores and couldn’t find anything that fit my personality,” Lindsey told me. ”My Mom showed up at my house one day and revealed that she had been working on a dress for me that she was just making for fun. I tried desperately to think of ways to let her down easy, thinking that there was no way that I could get married in a dress my Mom made. However, I tried it on and I absolutely loved it. It had the ruffle, the charm and just the right fit.  She actually made the dress out of eyelet dust ruffles that she got in the home furnishing section of a department store! I can’t even put into words how special it was to walk down the aisle wearing a dress handmade with love just for me by my Mother. She instinctively knew exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. I was forced to wear flats because three days before the wedding I tripped on the sidewalk while going to get our marriage license and banged up both of my feet. I couldn’t cram my swollen feet into my cute yellow wedges I had planned to wear, but a pair of fabulous blue flats from Target saved the day.”

With Noah being a musician himself, and the fact that the couple got married in a music venue, obviously the entertainment was very important to them.  ”One of our vows was to always remember the sound of our favorite records!” Lindsay continued. ”Noah’s band, The Naptime Shake, got on stage and played a special wedding day song. Our friend, Glen Farris played an acoustic version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love”" as I walked down the aisle and also played “If I Needed You” during the ceremony. The Theater Fire played at the reception.

One of my favourite parts of this awesome wedding though? Why, the kissing booth of course! What an adorable idea! With help from some friends, the couple made the booth themselves. “It was a great way to get to talk to our guests and lay a smooch on them at the same time. We used the “smooch money” for spending cash on our honeymoon. Several guests and my dad took turns manning the booth.”

Carmen & Gary had a laid back pool party wedding at Commons Ford Ranch, Austin. The couple actually had their first dance in the pool too!

“The reception was supposed to be a dance party on the patio, with possible swimming as an afterthought, as there is a really nice pool at the ranch,” the bride told me.  “However as soon as dinner ended, guests were taking over the pool.  We decided to move the DJ over to the pool deck since that was where the party was happening, and it became a full-blown pool party.  We even had our first dance in the pool, after the official marital cannonball.”

The bride wore a gorgeous short and ruffled dress which she found at Bianca Luce Boutique in Pasadena, CA. Carmen explains “I didn’t buy it at first, thinking I should try on more dresses, but when I walked into an actual bridal boutique across the street, I practically ran out the door and across the street to get it before anyone else had the chance.  The traditional princess wedding dress was not for me.  I also bought my poofy veil here.”

The couple also chose to use local businesses instead of playing a fortune to ship things in. Their flowers were sourced from the Arnosky Family Farm and their invitations were by local designer Lucky Onion who they found through Paper Place in Austin. Their vegan cupcakes were made by Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop.

“It was very important to Gary and I to have our fingerprint on every aspect of our wedding,” concluded the bride. ”Corporate wedding establishment vendors didn’t interest us at all, so we asked around and found vendors through recommendations from our friends.  We were able to design every aspect of our wedding just as we wanted, and everything turned out perfectly!  We involved family, friends, and friends-of-friends for almost everything: officiant, dj, rings, bartender, party bus rental, and the list goes on.  Those we didn’t know before-hand, like the floral designer and flower farmers, were small and personal enough that they sort of became friends.  Carefully choosing all the details really made every aspect of the wedding meaningful for us.”

“I took advantage of the opportunity to delve into some fun creative projects and learn some new crafty skills.  Like I mentioned, I appointed my friend Candace chairwoman of the craft committee and we undertook projects like making decorations (brightly colored tissue paper puffs) and creating and stuffing goody bags for out-of-town guests.  Our most successful and labor intensive project was screen-printing wedding programs with an image and a poem.  They turned our beautifully, and I learned a new skill/art.”

You’ve got to see Kassie & James’ killer Roadhouse Relics (Texas) engagement shoot! The vintage, western, neon retro decor and 50′s rockabilly vibe proved to be the perfect location for such an awesome couple. The store, which specialises in neon signs allowed the couple an hour to come in and get some fabulous photographs.

“They have a area in the back set up with some of their old signs and other marquees that they have bought from businesses that went out of business” photographer Jessica told me. ”The couple are caterers her in town and they are AWESOME! www.cateringwithatwist.comis their site. They definitely have that cool rockabilly tattooed awesomeness on a day to day basis so this shoot was totally an extension of their personality. They were the ones that wanted to park his sweet ride in the middle of Congress Ave. Which is one of the busiest tourist streets in Austin so I was a little nervous that someone would hit their car. But it came out AMAZING! Also James loves big trees so we found some awesome trees with tons of knots in them. It was soooo hot that day that we stuck to a few places but I really think it turned out to be awesome!”

I’ve got a couple of really beautiful, super personal weddings for you today…starting with this little beaut all the way from Texas.

Jacklyn & Noah got married at Cibolo Creek, just outside of Marfa, Texas. It was just the two of them and their little boy. They decided they wanted their wedding to be just about them, “under the big sky”. Jacklyn wore a vintage Mexican dress from the 70′s, a 1930′s diamond bracelet that both belonged to her mother and a lace shawl that she had found in Italy at an open air antique market.  She carried pink roses and gardenia from their garden for her bouquet which she put with some wildflowers that she collected on the way down. Noah wore a shirt from the 70′s which they found the day before they left for Marfa.
