Kennon & Bob's "double rainbow" wedding is a perfect example of why less than perfect weather doesn't have to spell a disaster for your wedding or your wedding photographs! The wedding was held at South Shore Cultural Center, Chicago - the same venue that The Obama's held their wedding reception! The couple also loved the venue because all their rental fees are given to support arts and cultural programming in the area. "If you asked our family and friends, they'd say that we're Rock n Roll because we have tattoos and piercings, aren't traditional or religious, go a lot of concerts and love to throw parties," the bride told me. "Ok, we agree. We just didn't want a cookie-cutter wedding. We wanted nothing to do with dowries, religious figures or treating women as possessions. Michael & Chloe got married in the Circadia Circus Tent at Woodford Folk Festival, Australia. I think that's all I have to say to let you know that this wedding is seriously bad ass and awesome right? The bride wore a handmade dress and Wellington boots (festivals are muddy!) and the entire wedding was organized by the 'Circadia' team. The couple didn't have bridesmaids, groomsmen or flowers, but they had a cake organized by Michael's sisters (and a sweetie table, again organized for them by their family!) Bogan Bingo - a 90's hair band doing a "bogan" version of Bingo - entertained the guests before the wedding began.Read more...

Just wow. Like seriously, wow. That's pretty much all I said for 5 minutes when Pheigi & Kiichiro's Japanese/Scottish fusion wedding hit my inbox this week. I almost don't know where to begin telling their epic wedding story, luckily for me the bride explained it a lot better than I ever could. The couple actually had two weddings - the first in Japan in July 2009 and the second (pictured) in Scotland in September 2010. "My new Hubby and I actually got married in Japan (where we live) in 2009. We went to the city office and signed lots of forms to update my alien registration card, change his official address and get hitched. Which one of those forms was actually my marriage certificate I still don't know. I wore my mothers 1970's full length purple embroidered waistcoat over my purple cord flares and after we went to the crazy Japanese arcade on our street and had photos taken in the hello kitty photo booth. Much fun yet somewhat lacking in romance. We thus decided to come home to Scotland and have another celebration with my family, which we did in September. Planning my wedding from Japan was hard to say the least, especially as I wanted something a little different from the norm, and the whole thing became more of a disappointment as I spent hours trawling through ugly dresses, bland invites and over the top bling, until a good friend with similar problems directed me to your site. From then on I visited your site nearly every other day to remind myself that there were options other than white wedding package A, B or C and so in turn I am sending you my wedding in hope that it may help other brides in the UK realise the same and give them a wee break from the monotony of the wedding industry. Sally & Vyv's stylish London wedding took place in November. The ceremony at Islington Town Hall was followed by a party at 06 St Chad's, Kings Cross. Sally told me all about their day, "My dress was from a vintage fair at Chelsea Town Hall, I don't know the designer/era but I was talking to a fab lady who runs a vintage shop in Camden Passage and she thought it might be late 50s. I didn't plan yellow but wanted a bright colour and when I saw it I knew it was what I was looking for. I got it altered by The Lady That Does who is as much fun as she is talented, I spent a good few evenings laughing over cups of tea at her house with her partner - they are both very into their vintage and run swing nights in Walthamstow, but that's another story... oh yes and he runs dance classes! Esma & Emre were married in March in Istanbul. Their registry office ceremony was followed by a rockin' boat party! Esma wore a custom made dress to suit her exact requirements. Victor & Tori's dramatic, slightly gothic - totally fabulous British wedding totally hits the nail on the Rock n Roll head. As soon as these landed on my desk I was instantly smitten with Tori's wicked deep purple, handmade gown by Janice Whitehorn of Uptight Clothing, "My bridesmaid sent me the link to Janice’s website and I loved her styles," explained Tori. "I went for a consultation and I told Janice what I liked and didn't like, and she came up with the most amazing dress/corset that made me feel like a princess, along with the headpiece which was modified from her original design and all the jewellery." The couple were married in October at Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire and the deep purple theme was carried throughout the day and the details. Victor and his groomsmen wore a tailed morning suits with brocade waistcoats hired from Moss Bros, but their cravats were also handmade by Janice from the same material as the dress to match.Read more...

Nessa & Josh eloped on a rooftop in Austin, Texas. The bride explained, "We really wanted to strip down a ceremony to what it's really about - two people, in love. I wanted something personal and close; stress free and beautiful. We didn't have rings yet, so we brought some vintage fox playing cards instead. I've followed the bride on Twitter for the last few months in fact so I do feel a little bit like I've been along for the ride of their wedding planning! Tasha & Noah's beautiful backyard wedding is pure inspirational gold! I am super excited to share it with you today. I just know you're all going to love it just as much as I do. The ceremony & reception took place in the couple's back garden and they asked all their friends & family to help out where they could to make the day a really personal one. "Noah and I wanted to have a small, chilled wedding that involved our families and close friends," Tasha told me. "Choosing red, white and blue for our Americana backyard BBQ wedding theme made finding coordinating fabric and accessories super easy. Nearly everything was DIY- Noah made our Save the Date''s and invitations, Noah's mom made all the desserts, Noah's mom, grandma and aunt made the bouquets and bouts from a few bouquets from Pike Place Market. My mom's friend made 200 feet of pennant flags from fabric I picked out at the fabric store down the street from my house. My sister and her boyfriend cut up all the fruit for our drinks. My aunt stamped all the BBQ bibs with a custom stamp that Noah designed. My aunts put together the centerpices the day before. On the day of the wedding, my mom and I set up all the tables, chairs, tablecloths, and centerpieces in an half an hour."Read more...

I am friend's with a lesbian couple who hope to get married one day (you should check out their cool video blog Niche Girls by the way!) so whenever I get sent beautiful same-sex weddings I always send them over to them to inspire them...and to make them cry! Kelly & Dani's beautiful Californian wedding certainly hit the spot on the tears stakes by the way...there were floods I'm telling ya! Anyway I digress. Kelly & Dani were married at Highland Ranch in Philo in a beautiful and intimate ceremony followed by a DIY reception at the same venue. Both brides wore Siri dresses and Fluevog shoes. The venue provided all the food but the cake was made by friends. For décor the couple chose wild flowers. "What makes Kelly & Dani Rock n Roll is that they're both very beautiful ladies who are not afraid to profess their love to each other," explained photographer Caroline. "They included their closest family and their dog, Trout in their celebration. They also had fire lanterns and Kelly's sister fire danced as well as officiated the ceremony! I am literally dying of excitement over Hope & Brian's GORGEOUS wedding. These guys certainly blow the lid off boring or traditional weddings. This is the kind of shindig I wish I'd be at. Uber stylish, painfully hip and Rock n Rollin' til the early hours at the after party! The wedding took place on 10/10/10 at The Hyde Park, NYC. Here, the couple were married and the first part of the reception took place. They wanted an intimate wedding and so only invited 85 people. They also wanted a day that reflected heir love for one another as well as their adoration for New York. They did this by employing mostly local vendors - in fact almost every vendor was within a 10 minute walk from their apartment.Read more...

It was Elvis' birthday on Saturday so I thought I'd mark the occasion by sharing Amy & Daylen's awesome Elvis-influenced Las Vegas wedding with you this morning!Amy & Daylen were married at Graceland Chapel, Vegas by Elvis (of course) followed by an informal and rockin' party reception at the MGM Grand in the Skyloft Suite. "We had a reception with about 25 of us at a Skyloft Suite, then all of us took a party bus to Graceland Chapel to get married by Elvis, we chose the Blue Hawaii package and Elvis sang 3 songs," explained the bride. I am SO EXCITED to share Debs & Richie's wedding as not only did I blog their fabulous engagement session just before Christmas, but they used Rock n Roll Bride as inspiration for their awesome vintage wedding.
