This couple spared no expense to have the wedding of their wildest dreams! Harout and Rosario’s love story is like something out of a movie. They met in an LA art gallery, becoming best friends and within a few months of knowing each other, fell in love. For their winter wedding they wanted to reflect their love story and planned an opulent and glamorous day with a rich, luxurious feel. Their colour scheme was white with accents of gold.

“Our wedding theme was The Gay Royals!”, they laughed. “We dressed as modern-day gay kings, or in our head what they would look like! We really wanted a winter wonderland look but more luxurious.”

Colourful & Industrial Los Angeles Wedding

This LA couple met at Disney while both working on Moana; Alyssa was an artist and Dave was brought into help manage her department. Once the movie was released, they were an item, and they married in April 2019 at HNYPT LA, a studio space location in downtown Los Angeles.

They went for a colourful meets industrial vibe for the day. The bride explains, “We put both of our personalities into our wedding. We wanted everyone to feel welcome, as if they were coming into our personal space. We brought Filipino traditions from my side and some Jewish traditions from Dave’s. Dessert was a soft-serve ice cream truck which was a huge hit!”

A long time friend of Dave’s, who is an actor, led their ceremony. Alyssa walked down the aisle to the theme from My Neighbor Totoro, accompanied by both of her parents. “We prepared our own vows”, she continued, “I went first and asked for our gathered friends and family to raise their hand if Dave had ever helped them. The amount of hands was overwhelming that Dave couldn’t even look. Dave finished his vows with a quote from one of my favourite movies, The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Alice in Wonderland Meets Peaky Blinders LA Warehouse Wedding

Andrea and Nate’s “Classy Upscale Alice In Wonderland” theme is a total belter. From Nate serenading Andrea as she walked down the aisle to their über cool LA warehouse reception, it was inspo fo’ days…

They describe their wedding scheme “like Alice in Wonderland inspired but not like you just stepped into Disneyland – a specific sort of royal black, white gold, and red.” There was a definite feel of vintage Hollywood glamour, with Nate and his groomsmen wearing a Peaky Blinders-inspired three-piece wool suits with newsboy hats and some worn work boots. Andrea’s bridesmaids all wore jewel tones in styles inspired by her beautiful dress: an elegant hand-beaded 1920s style gown. Her ring was also a hand-curated vintage treasure by Katie Carder.

Los Angeles Brunch Wedding with the Bride in a Red Jumpsuit!

When the bride is a literal, bona fide rockstar, you know the wedding’s going to be a corker – and Cato (AKA CATO Sound) and Nick’s wedding definitely did not disappoint. They flipped the status quo with a house party and night out dancing on the Saturday and their ceremony and brunch on the Sunday! Cato’s outfit also ticks every box (“Gotta have pants, gotta have pockets, gotta have a train” she said) as do their incredible photos. Let’s begin, shall we?

“Actually, the inspiration for the wedding came to me in a dream”, began Cato. “I woke Nick up, told him what we were doing, and he liked it so we went back to sleep! At first I thought Pinterest would be helpful – oh how wrong I was! I think its best use would be to show a wedding planner what you are thinking, but I think it distorts expectations and encourages us to overspend on one day of our lives money that could give us more freedom in the years to come!”

“The biggest inspiration for us in reality was our community. From the very start, we knew our joy was only possible with the support of our community, so we wanted our wedding to be about all of us going through life together. We wanted our friends and family to be woven into our wedding in the same way they are woven into our lives, and thus most of our vendors were friends, or are friends now.”

“We held our wedding in reverse, with a Saturday night out dancing at Funky Sole at The Echo in Echo Park, and then a brunch wedding and reception on Sunday,” she continued. Their ceremony was a Reform Jewish ceremony with plenty of character. Their Rabbi, Jim Kaufmann, had them write a story about how they’d got to this point, which he then read in three parts woven into the ceremony.

“By the time we exchanged rings, everyone had relived that journey with us. We were very honest about our partnership and it resonated with our guests.” It was held at The Eveleigh, a restaurant on Sunset Boulevard, and at the suggestion of their wedding planner Taylor from Reidsley they placed their chuppah in the middle of the room so they were surrounded by their family and friends.

They walked out of their ceremony to a mashup of Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins, Where is My Mind? by The Pixies, and Wake Up by Arcade Fire, arranged by Ro Rowan, their violinist before heading to the chillest, nicest wedding brunch ever.
