Kate and Jordon were married in an intimate ceremony at Mt Thompson Crematorium, where the bride works, in Holland Park, Brisbane. They wanted the wedding to reflect their lives and everything they've built together. They included nods to the bride's Scottish heritage such as the tartan sash attached to her Sherri Hill dress and by having a handfasting and whiskey ceremony. Seph and Jason completely epitomise what Rock n Roll Bride is all about, and no it doesn't matter one little bit that there's no 'bride' in sight! Jeffery and Amanda eloped at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum in Ohio. They had just their close friend Andrew as their officiant and his wife, Brittany, as their witness. Michelle & Kyle we're married in Savannah, GA. The outdoor ceremony was held in a public park, Oglethorpe Square, and their reception was at the amazingly named (and coloured!) The Olde Pink House Restaurant. "If you allow yourself to get pulled into today’s wedding etiquette, you can really drive yourself crazy," Michelle began, when I asked her if she had any advice for the newly-engaged. "We ignored all the rules and threw caution to the wind, and just chose what we liked and what represented us well. We both love vintage things - ideas from the 1930s or 1940s or just something that is banged up and broken in, 'well loved' as we like to call it. We also played on our love for tattoos and nature. Adam & Barbara's trash the dress shoot is like nothing I've ever seen! Day of the Dead make up fused with an awesome cemetery location made for something pretty special. The bride did the make up "It was a trial and error process," she explained. "I looked up make up designs online and tried different ones to see which would look best with my (and my husband's) facial structure, without looking too cluttered. Since it was right before Halloween, I could find cream makeup almost anywhere, and picked up a few tubes, and some extra just in case I ran out. I applied it with paint brushes, which helped so I could layer it on without it looking too thick. I had to apply three layers of white to give it a true white appearance, and if I hadn't run out of time, I would've applied more."Read more...

I featured Leigh & Brian's ridiculously awesome engagement shoot back in June - you'll remember it, it was the one with the bed in a river! So, you can imagine my excitement when their photographer Hollie sent me the couple's recent wedding - they got married in a cemetery! Summer & Christopher's wedding took place in July in a cemetery/mausoleum where the bride's mother works at their beautiful 1920's era chapel - certainly made for some awesome shots huh!? Summer told me: "It didn't bother us that the chapel had a mausoleum inside of it. It's not that we were being purposely macabre, but we both have an understanding of the cycle of life, and felt that it would be beautiful, appropriate, and romantic, to have our wedding in a place which encompassed beauty and history. Happy Monday my lovelies.
