Ingrid and Ryan married at the iconic Hollywood Forever Cemetery, in front of the reflection pool with their reception being held inside the Masonic Lodge. The cemetery doesn’t do many weddings, so it was special for them to be able to allowed to marry there. They chose it because they spend many of their first dates wandering around the grounds.

Their theme and inspiration was inspired by their love of horror films – ideal for a wedding hosted in a cemetery in the heart of Hollywood! They both love An American Werewolf in London and The Shining in particular so they recreated scenes from the films for their wedding invitations. The save the date featured the couple posing as David Naughton and Griffin Dunne in the Werewolf poster. For the invitation, Ingrid became Shelley Duvall’s character and Ryan took Jack Nicholson’s role in the “Here’s Johnny” scene. “Our thoughts on the wedding theme were a mix of legendary horror movies and a Hollywood mansion together,” Ingrid explained.

The couple skipped having bridesmaids or groomsmen. Ingrid felt confident organising the wedding herself and wanted to keep the demands on her friends to a minimum. Three flower girls took part, wearing white with confirmation veils. “To me, I was an older bride whose friends were going through different strains in their lives, and I didn’t want to create an additional ask for my friends,” she continued. “Additionally, I really didn’t feel like wrangling individuals for pictures, brunches, extras, etc. I felt confident I could also handle the wedding without extra help.”

The ceremony itself was officiated by Moon Zappa, a actress, singer, author, and daughter of musician Frank Zappa. “Moon Zappa produced a beautiful introduction to our personal vows”, Ingrid said. “I went first and I wanted to let Ryan know how much he helped me throughout my life and how I would do the same in our marriage. Ryan vowed to keep going through our marriage, and that he would never let me down.”

“The most memorable part of our ceremony was the end. The violinist started out, and the DJ finished Thong Song by Sisqo! This song was placed at the end of our ceremony because Ryan’s parents married outside in Las Vegas 26 years ago and the Thong Song accidently made it into the background of their wedding video. It’s a hoot! Afterwards, we grabbed Moon, my dad, and Ryan’s best friend and signed our wedding license on Estelle Getty’s grave.”

Having chosen Hollywood Forever as their place to get married, Ingrid has some solid advice for future couples. “Your wedding does not need to be in church or banquet hall…do it at a cemetery! There’s a lot of thought that goes into planning a non-traditional wedding so make sure you choose things you really love.”
