Betsey Johnson

Ashley & Hunter’s wedding had me smitten as soon as I saw it. They went for a fun fair theme with brightly coloured and fun pinwheels, noise makers, rock candy, pumpkins and a BBQ from Buz n Neds Barbeque. This pair both have a self-confessed obsession with shoes so Ashley wore an amazing pair from Betsey Johnson with a Marilyn Monroe portrait on the sole and Hunter wore red, black and white high top Vans that matched their brightly colored wedding…the bridesmaids even wore red pumps to match.

Ashley dress was by Alvina Valenta which she teamed it with an amazing antique brooch which she found at Ant Hill Antiques in Carytown in Richmond, Va. Their flowers were vibrant and sunny to match the theme and the bridesmaids all wore their own purple mis-matched dresses.

I may well be stating the obvious here, but Amy & Jay’s wedding is freakin’ awesome. Hell to the yeah…I love to blog this stuff!

We were married on 01/02/10 in Brooklyn, NY. We really love our neighborhood and wanted to keep it local, allowing our guests to fully experience the day in Williamsburg Brooklyn. We had our ceremony and three course vegan meal at a place called Monkey Town. As a wedding gift, one of our best friends/dancer/aerialist/choreographer, Sarah Wollschlager, did an aerial performance to Etta James’ “At Last,” which contributed to the uniqueness and beauty of our ceremony. Our officiant, from the Brooklyn Society of Ethical Culture, Tasha Paley, also made the ceremony even more personal- she brought laughter to our guests and made several of us shed a tear while reading an excerpt from “The Little Prince.”

We then had the reception at Trophy Bar, which included an open bar, dancing, vegan cupcakes, and a photobooth. For the photobooth, two of our best friends created a caution tape backdrop and set up a wireless remote, allowing the guests to get ready and pose! As far as vegan cupcakes in NYC go, Babycakes is the absolute best…we were so relieved that all of the non-vegan guests really loved them! They also made us a 6″ cake, where we put our super cute monster cake toppers, created by Leslie Levins.  It was absolutely an incredible day and it wouldn’t have been what it was without our amazing friends!

Amy had two dresses – the ceremony dress was found on Ebay and was a similar design to Maggie Sottero’s Rasharna dress, which she loved but when she saw the less-fussy Ebay version she was sold! Her reception dress was from Betsey Johnson’s Spring 2008 collection. She carried a felt bouquet by Jennifer Rae of Ribbons n Bows Boutique (who she discovered through Rock n Roll Bride!)

Backyard Beautiful

Lauren & Alexander got married last summer in their own back garden, surrounded by 35 of their closest friends and family. The whole day was a DIY affair and a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. Lauren looks amazing in her simple Betsey Johnson dress and Moschino Chic & Cheap shoes, while Alexander bucked all the trends by wearing a casual T-shirt and Jeans from Nordstrom and by spending the whole day barefoot!

The wedding had a very comfortable, home-grown, relaxed party feel. The details weren’t really that important to this couple, ignored in favour of what really mattered to them – family, friends, home and love.

Jeff & Maggie got married at the courthouse in Seattle but met with their photographer Dana Pleasant a couple of weeks later to do this rad photo shoot. Maggie wore this beautiful Betsey Johnson dress that she also wore the day they got married. She really wanted some great photos in it – what an excuse! The trio headed to the international district to Kobe Terrace, which is a community garden.

Indie Rock

Hello again you gorgeous creatures, I hope you didn’t miss me too much this weekend (although I was pretty rubbish at staying away – my phone kept me up to date quite nicely with Twitter and Facebook!)

I’m starting this week off with a bang, firstly with the adorably indie Leanne & Nate and their beyond perfect engagement session (helped along by Leanne’s amazing Betsey Johnson dress. I want!)  Photographer Noa has really been making waves in blog land over the last few months and as always it is my absolute pleasure to share this session that she sent me.

Rock n Roll Gold

Dan & Danielle are definitely rock n roll gold! Unfortunately I don’t have much info on this wedding but with the OK from the bride I just had to share these right away. I’m pretty sure it was worth a post just for the gorgeous wedding images and all the wicked details right?

Edit: The dress was from Carmela Sutera Couture

I Love This!

So I saw this wedding on I Love Lolliblog the other day and was instantly smitten. Then when photographer Christine Chang submitted the wedding to me as well I thought ‘what the hell’ and have decided to break my self-imposed rule of not re-blogging. This wedding is too damn special and too damn rock n roll to pass up!

The gorgeous Bride Kristi, who owns her own jewellery company named Diamond Willow designed and DIYed the whole wedding – from the centrepieces to her stunning peacock bouquet, the boutonnieres and her own flower hairpiece. She wore a sample gown designed by Lian Carlo and her Mum altered the neckline and made the train detachable for dancing.

The Bridesmaids have got to be some of the most gorgeous I have ever seen, rocking their Betsey Johnson frocks, white platform shoes, babies breath bouquets and personalised ‘knuckleduster’ rings designed and made by Heist Jewelry.

Thanks to Christine for sending me these and to I Love Lolliblog for sharing them to begin with!

I shouldn’t really be all bloggy on my birthday but I just love you all too much…and I love this wedding too much to wait until tomorrow..I have to get it out there right now!

I found this wedding via Offbeat Bride’s Flickr pool (it’s an amazing resource for finding wicked weddings, but I’m assuming most of you already know that!)  Anyway, as soon as I saw this wedding I emailed the Bride, Kelly straight away demanding to be allowed to feature it on here…and she was more than happy for me too…wooohooo!

I’m going to hand right over to Kelly at this point, because in her own words she loves talking about her wedding!
We started planning a very traditional wedding but it never seemed
“right” for us.  So my man gave me full control and said “make it feel
like us”.  I changed the location to New York City (that’s were we
live) and decided the day would be family only.  (Later, we had a
party for friends in New York and both our hometowns)

The day started by taking a black limo to Brooklyn Bridge, to take
pictures.  After that, we headed to the court house, downtown
Manhattan to have the civil ceremony.  Another black limo took all of
the guests to meet us at the court house.  We got married about 1:00
pm on Friday, March 20 in a very short little ceremony.  Then we all
headed to Alice’s Tea Cup on 64th where we had rented a room upstairs.
It was so darling!!  We had different types of finger sandwiches,
crazy scones, tons of little deserts and unlimited tea.  Our cake was
a one-layered yellow cake with buttercream frosting and the grooms
“cake” was really a red velvet cupcake (his favorite).  My cake topper
was a vintage 1950’s wedding couple.  My favors were vintage tea cups
with little gold bags of loose tea (Wedding Chai) wrapped in pink
tulle and ivory ribbons.  By 7:00 pm, my new husband and I were at the
airport to leave on our honeymoon.  It was a perfect day!

A highlight:  When we stood in front of the court house, right after
the ceremony to take pictures, a NYPD traffic cop took our picture
with her cell phone.  Then she looked at it, smiled and said it was
the best wedding she had ever seen!

Now here is good stuff:

Bride:  Dress, Betsey Johnson
Headpiece, veil, earrings: ReVamp

Shoes and purse: Prada
Make up:  All MAC Cosmetics.  (Lip color:  Alta Moda and All Nighter
Prolong Wear by MAC–I get asked that a lot)
Rings:  Peachtree on Fifth Ave

Maid of Honor:  Dress, Betsey Johnson
Hat, bracelets, earrings:  ReVamp

Shoes: Christian Dior
Make up: All MAC Cosmetics.  (Lip color: Melrose Mood)

Groom:  Suit, Tie: Gucci
Cufflinks: Vintage

Ring:  Heirloom (Great grandfathers’ ring)

Reception, cake and favors:  Alice’s Tea Cup

Flowers: ReVamp

Thank you for letting me share this with you!  I am very excited that
people liked what I did, because I was getting a bit of flack from
some friends about not being “traditional”.  I only did and wore what
I loved; that is what made my wedding authentic.  I would hope to
inspire other brides to ignore the critics and go with their own sense
of style.

Thanks so much for sharing Kelly.  You all simply must head over here to check out the rest of her ridiculously gorgeous wedding! (and here for her Vintage, Remade, Re-inspired and Occasionally Sparkly etsy shop!)
