As you all no doubt will have seen by now, I had a very exciting announcement to make yesterday. After over a year of working 2 jobs I’ve finally got to the stage where I feel I can cut back on my ‘proper job’ and put more into Rock n Roll Bride. Anyway, as I said before, none of this would be possible without you. Seriously, without you brides (and grooms!) to be, photographers, bloggers, wedding vendors and wedding / pretty picture obsessives reading, submitting and generally loving my little blog, I’d be nothing and Rock n Roll Bride would be no more. So I wanted to give a little something back – LOVE!

I popped into my favourite shop Topshop yesterday and saw a pink version of one of my favourite necklaces. I had to buy it right away and I want to give it to one of you. To enter I want you to email me (kat@rocknrollbride.com) a picture including the words ‘Rock n Roll’. It can be a drawing, a painting, a photograph, a collage…and the words can be written, spelled out with body parts, super-imposed…anything, let your imagination run wild! Get creative and I’ll share the best ones on the blog next week. Be sure to include your own website/blog url (if you have one) with your entry so I can share some link love back.

Now, let’s be honest, I do actually have a lot of male readers too who may not be jumping up and down with excitement over a sparkly pink necklace. However I would love it if still wanted to take part in order to get your creative ideas shared on the blog. I’m taking to you male photographers here! I’m not only excited about giving something away but I’m dying to see what ideas you can all come up with… hey, I’m sure you cool dudes know at least one lovely lady who loves pink glitter!

My favourite picture will win this darling little bit of love – from me to you….and to get you started, here’s one my bestest friend Carly made for me…

…and my ridiculous attempt! haha…yes it’s rubbish – I’m sure you can do much better!

♥ You have until Thursday 18th March to get your entries in and the winner and my favourite images will be shared on Friday 19th March ♥

Big Love…

EEEEEeeeeeeek! I can hardly contain myself – so much so in fact that I am interrupting today’s regularly scheduled programming to tell you all my big news.

Over the last few months Rock n Roll Bride has literally blown the hell up (in a good way!) I’ve met so many amazing people, featured a plethora of gorgeous weddings and photo shoots, written for and been featured in some of the best magazines in the UK (and abroad – watch this space) and being glamorised in some awesome photo shoots. So it’s my absolute pleasure to let you know that my work have allowed me to go part time.

I’ll be honest, working full time job has been pretty damn hard over the last 6 months and I am brimming over with excitement at all the time I’m going to have to make Rock n Roll Bride BIGGER and BETTER for you, my darling readers. I’d also like to give a special shout out of love to all my sponsors, as without them I wouldn’t be in the position to take a cut on my full time wage. Go and give them some love by clicking on their graphics to the right of this post. There are some seriously awesome photographers and Rock n Roll wedding vendors for you to swoon over.

I. Love. You. All!

Finally, what am I going to do with all this extra time? I have ideas forming already and if you have any comments or suggestions then please feel free to drop me an email or comment below and let me know.

atreception

A few weeks ago I was offered a couple of tickets to attend The Designer Wedding show in Battersea, London. The event took place from last Friday – Sunday so my friend (and photographer extraordinaire) David McNeil and I thought we’d go check it out in the hope to be inspired, have fun and to actually real-life-meet some of the amazing UK wedding vendors that we’ve met online. Today I want to share a few of my highlights and photographs from the event so you can see what fun we had. I definitely did and I even got to meet a bunch of Rock n Roll Bride readers. It was the first event I’ve been to where I actually got recognised which was surreal but certainly nice! Here are some of my (and David’s) faves.

magpievintage1

♥ Magpie Vintage undoubtedly had one of the busiest stalls of the day. I’ve wanted to meet Lisa & Tania for ages now and The Designer Weddingshow proved to be the perfect opportunity. I wondered up to their stand hoping they’d spot the pink hair and know it was me and as soon as I was within 20 feet I was greeted by Lisa with a massive hug and an “oh my god you look so young!” (haha way to suck up Lisa – you go girl!) and ” oh you simply must wear this necklace!” She the proceeded to drape a beautiful powder pink and teal green reclaimed vintage gem around my neck which I was lucky enough to walk around with all day (and yes I did remember to return it after!)

sugalily

♥ Abbey of Sugalily Stationary and I have been chatting online for months now so it was great to finally meet her in real life. I fell in love with not only her but with her beautiful creations in paper, ribbon and sparkly bits. From retro to classic, colourful to muted, Abbey’s display was one of the most endearing there..and she had cupcakes! Now who could say no to that!?

boothnation1

♥ Myself and David had waaaay too much fun at the  Booth Nation/Glitterbooth. As we walked past I was instantly drawn to the 8 foot, silver glitter-covered photo booth. We were greeted by Seamus who immediately told us to hop in and give it a go, and inside only a bloomin’ built in wind machine (you can see we had fun with that!) I swear to god, if I was getting married again I would totally have one of these. Awesome!

♥ David fell in love with Emma Hunt’s simple, clean lines and said he would certainly be recommending their gowns to his clients! Read the rest of this entry »

♥ Grandma ♥

I’ve decided not to schedule any post today. My Grandma died on Saturday morning of Cancer and today we are all going over to Ireland for the funeral. Sad.

RIP Grandma, we all love you very very much.

On a morning on procrastination (or could it have been an evening? I loose track) I decided to give this formspring thing a go. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s basically a new social networking site (for lack of a better description) where you sign up and randoms (or in my case my lovely readers and fans) can ask me anything! I’m usually aghast at such self indulgence but I’ve actually really loved answering your burning questions – whether they be about Rock n Roll bride, my personal life (oh yes), the potential of babies (arrgh!), blogging or about having pink hair! I’ve loved the questions so much in fact that I wanted to share some of my favourites here. If you want to ‘Ask Me Anything’ then shoot on over to formspring and question away, I will try and answer as many as I can. and if you like I’ll do another addition of my favourite questions again soon. So, what do ya wanna know?

♥ A lot of people seemed fascinated by my fuchsia locks – which is weird to me as having pink hair seems positively normal to me now. However, I aim to please…

How long have you been coloring your hair pink?

I first dyed my hair when I left school at 16 and went to college. I dabbled with a number of colours between then about 18 but I was always pink at heart and went back pink after our wedding in April 2008.

What color is your natural hair color

Very dark brown, almost black. You can see it here in our wedding photographs

The Cimbo Limbo posts continue with part deux of the grand review of 2009. Brace yourselves for the July to December extravaganza people!

♥ Jenny & Johnny were way to stylish and way to cool to exclude from this list. If I had a face like hers I’d certainly be rocking the girl-hawk hair do. A Ring bearing ninja, the motorbike portraits and the tattoo-inspired illustration guestbook all add to the mad style

♥ Teneisha & Chris’ crazy-gorgeous LasVegas wedding was nothing short of epic. That dress!

♥ Something a bit different for Rock n Roll Bride here, but how could I resist those faces?

As is customary at this time of year, I wanted to take some time to look back over the last 12 months and share with you some of my most favourite weddings, photo shoots and features. I think you’ll be hard pushed to not find something that makes you go ‘ooooh’ amongst this lot. Enjoy a-reminiscing! I’ll be back tomorrow with part 2 (there’s too much to narrow it down to just one post!) I’m also taking this slow blog-time (I like to refer to it as ‘Crimbo Limbo’ (!) to ponder my ideas and plans for Rock n Roll Bride in 2010. I’ll try and share my musings for the year ahead with you soon and would love for you to let me know what you think. It’s all about you dear reader after all…

♥ 2009 started off with a bang, with this ridiculously fabulous ‘Chicken Man and the Naked Chick’ shoot and wedding. If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing this before, you certainly won’t be disappointed

♥ This magician and his wife’s 1920s vintage styling was resoundly popular all over blog-land and may have even started the fake moustache revolution…it was certainly one of the first where I saw them used anyway.

daria11

♥ More vintage loving came my way with this ‘Vintage Snow’ wedding – complete with the bride looking every bit the glamorous lady in her circa 1947 Dior suit

♥ Still my favourite gown of the year..that multi-coloured tulle just sends me wild!

Please forgive me procrastination as I bring to you this random but overtly lovely post all about my favourite prop – the humble balloon! I should be doing some proper writing right now (deadline booo!) but I got all distracted by all this rubbered and brightly coloured goodness whilst on my internet travels today.

NEWSFLASH!

Stand by for the announcement of the year…Yes I, Kat Williams obsessed with all things blog am taking the weekend OFF! “Holy crap” I hear you cry, “How is such a thing possible?” Well you’re right, this will be my first weekend away from the blog since…well…January I reckon. How ridiculous is that?

Gareth & I are heading to a family event and whilst I would normally work my fingers to the bone the week before scheduling posts over the weekend so you wouldn’t miss me, I’ve decided that I really could do with a bit of a break and this weekend away to just concentrate on me and Gareth, not worry about moderating comments, replying to emails or checking my twitter. Therefore if you do need to get hold of me you’ll just have to wait!

Have a good old weekend people. Love you all! But hang on, I couldn’t leave you with nothing could I? No no no no….let’s hope theis funky engagement shoot by UK photographer David McNeil keep you busy until I return.
