When organising our Blogcademy party in London this summer, top of my list of things to get right was a killer bar. I mean, it's not a celebration without cocktails is it?! When I discovered Pigs Bladder And Petticoat I knew I'd found the babes for us. Rhubarb and Rosemary Fizzes (rosemary-infused vodka, homemade rhubarb syrup and lemon juice, topped with sparkling water and garnished with a sprig of rosemary), and Pear and Cardamon Twists (gin, homemade pear syrup, lemon juice and crushed cardamon, topped with ginger ale) COME TO MAMA!

Shell De Mar

There's something undeniably magical about going to a fancy bridal boutique, sipping champagne and trying on beautiful, exquisitely made, designer wedding dresses. But for a lot of brides - who can't or don't want to - the mere idea of dropping £3000 on a dream dress is completely out of the question! I think it’s good to have options and so instead of just blindly writing about it, I actually wanted try it out for myself. I ordered two dresses from Adorona.com, based in Shanghai, who sell made-to-measure and customisable dresses online.

My One Wedding Day Regret…(Don’t Make it Yours!)

Kat

October 15, 2014

Looking back at my own wedding day, there's only one thing missing. The day was, for all intents and purposes, completely perfect, and while there might be a few stylistic things we'd do differently now, the day went off without a hitch. My only real regret about our wedding is that we didn't have a videographer. As the memories of that amazing day started to fade, I wished there was some footage I could look back on to relive those precious and fleeting moments. Unfortunately it just wasn't in our budget. However, if we'd known of a company like this one, who offer photo AND video packages, things might be very different.

One of my favourite things to do is speaking at events. As someone who used to suffer from crippling stage fright (and would avoid public speaking at all costs at school) this has been nothing but a surprise to me, let me tell you! But once you get over the anxiety, it really is super fun! Which is why I was thrilled when the babes at Flourish and Prosper asked me to be involved their workshop, The Wedding Academy. This is the first business workshop specifically aimed at people in the wedding industry, and I for one can't wait to attend!

Are Brides Who Wear Glasses Any Less Beautiful?

Kat

August 18, 2014

Watch any teen movie from the past ten years and you'll recognise this cliché. In order to get the guy, the heroine, who starts off an ugly duckling, first needs to be transformed into a beautiful swan. Whatever the premise of the film might be, the classic movie makeover formula is tried, tested and invariable. Her hair is tamed, 'sexy' clothes are donned, make up applied, glasses removed... How exactly she's going to see the man of her dreams without that vital accessory never seems to be a concern.

For a while now there seems to have been a bit of a backlash against this hyper digitalised age in which we live. Especially when it comes to weddings. It is no longer unusual for a bride and groom to request that their guests don't spend the entire wedding snapping photos on their phones, or glued to the instantaneous Facebook updates. Asking your guests to not share any photos online is no longer weird, or rude, it's just a personal choice.
