The Five-Year Engagement Save The Date Sweepstakes – WIN $1000 of Amazon Vouchers!

Kat

April 9, 2012

Whenever I blog a wedding, I always ask the couples about their engagement story. I don't always include them in the final posts, but it really helps me get to know the couple and what makes them tick - how they got together, how long they were engaged and how they got from 'will you?' to 'I do'. In fact some of my favourite wedding stories have been those with interesting engagement tales. One of my besties, who was married just last month, was only engaged 3 months (in fact her now-husband did a lot of the planning before he even popped the question!) but at the other end of the scale, Emma & Pete were engaged for 3 years before their surprise wedding last year!

Dresses for Real Women! WIN the Dress of Your Choice from Shabby Apple

April 1, 2012

The British high street is fabulous. In fact on returning from my recent gaunts in The States I was even more convinced of the fact that we have one of the best in the world. However there is something I need to get off my chest. Is there a particular reason that even the most body-conscious stores only seem to stock dresses that are way above the knee/way below a reasonable neckline and cut seriously tight? Is it too much to ask for a shop that stocks dresses to fit, you know, women that aren't size 8 teenagers? I'm only 27 for goodness sake, I don't think I'm ready to shop in Marks & Spencer just yet.

If you're anything like me you'll be putting a lot of thought into your wedding day footwear, so I thought I'd give you a helping hand by introducing you to the fabulous world of Zalando. Pastels aren't just for the classic princess bride you know, all of these shoes give pastels a Rock n Roll edge!

Under the Spotlight: Clickclickbang Photography

March 13, 2012

Hi Donna! Can you tell us who you are and what you do? I'm Donna, a chubby pink-haired tattooed metallier from up the North of England. I'm married to a gorgeous Irishman and have 2 kids and a fur baby Pug by the name of Bob. I own and run Clickclickbang Photography. I started taking pictures when my (now 11 year old) daughter was born-mainly because I felt creative but I can’t even draw a circle round a penny, so taking photos was the next best thing. I floated about, learning the technicalities as I went, and it grew and grew into this! I've been shooting part-time professionally for the past 3 years (after the birth of my 3 year old son forced me to quit being a self-employed mortgage advisor!) and have been lucky enough to let my business grow naturally, by word of mouth. However, going full time this year is a huge step, and I'm so excited!

With a business named after her own daughter, I'm delighted to introduce you to the work of Gracie May Photography today. Elizabeth is an American living in Hampshire who describes her work as a 'fusion'- fly on the wall journalistic style mixed with a bit of glamour. "I do things differently from the traditional wedding photographer," she told me. "I'm American and have lived here in the UK for 5 years. I have a fusion style. I cover the day like a fly on the wall in a journalistic/storytelling style, and then also throw in a splash of glamor with the private portraits. I am in love with the Beloved concept and like bring the idea into the mix on my shoots so we're not just taking pictures, but we're also making memories and capturing real, true and spontaneous emotions."

There are no two words that make me feel more relaxed than 'spa day'. Whether it be for a hen do, a birthday treat or 'just because' I am always the first to jump aboard that proverbial bandwagon when the idea is posed. I may be a workaholic, but allowing myself to forget about work for a wee while and sinking into the deep relaxation of massages, facials and clay wraps is pretty much my idea of heaven.
