Michael & Michelle are huge fans of the Disney movie 'Up' and so wanted to style their engagement session around it. They actually say that they saw a lot of themselves in the main characters of the film, who met when they were children, fell in love and then got married. They handmade all the props themselves including 'My Adventure Book' which they filled with scenes from the film as well as significant photographs from their time together as a couple.Read more...

I'm posting less engagement shoots at the moment - not because I don't heart them, but because I literally have wedding submissions coming out of my ears! However I do still let a small number of e-sessions through, especially when they are as cute as Cam & Candace's. Jesse & Susan's minimalist, stark paper & industrial themed engagement shoot makes me heart go a-flutter. Mainly because it's so different to anything I've seen before. It's almost avant garde in it's simplisticrandomness and I just adore it. "The paper people was something I had wanted to do for a really long time" photographer & creative genius Duston Todd told me. "It just took the right couple and timing. Luckily Susan is an award winning designer, made her own vintage wedding dress and was able to put her talents to good use and help create the life sized paper outfits. Could these two be any more made for Rock n Roll Bride (and each other!) if they tried?! Seeing their tattoos-a-plenty and whole lot of love makes me a very happy blogger indeed. "Just another hot and windy Sunday afternoon in Tracy, CA" began photographer Nirav. "Showing Matt & Lynnae's love for each other meant that they had to feel extremely comfortable in their location and with me so I decided to start the session at a place that they had spent a lot of time together and had lots of character which was Matt's mother's home/farm. The home included stables, a farm house, and several critters of all sorts. We took several shots there and once things felt right we moved out to the hills of Tracy with the intention of shooting with the giant windmills in the background. When we got, the security patrol was there to make sure those shots were not going to happen. The amount of wind up on hill was tremendous and I loved the movement of hair so we took the remainder of the shots there with a very simple backdrop. My favorite shots are ones that play on light and shadows. I wanted at least one dramatic silhouette shot which is when I spotted the power lines. After that, we all headed back to house and passed out from heat exhaustion."Read more...

I saw Steffany & Anders engagement photographs and amazing (like, seriously amazing) proposal video on their photographer Emily's blog and instantly knew I had to feature them. These two are the actual cutest! Steffany told me the whole story... "My story is something like, "OHMYGOD he proposed and it was SO CUTE!" And then I cried. I still can't believe he went to so much trouble. I always assumed that when/if he proposed it would be at a restaurant (which makes sense because we both LOVE to eat!) but instead he enlisted the help of five of his friends and made me the most amazing and thoughtful game ever. The game actually has a name - Dinner Love and the Quest for Soup! It's named for my food blog, dinnerlove.com, and also for my love of SOUP! Alex & Lisa met 13 years and discovered a mutual love of music, books & film "We met nearly 13 years ago and the one thing that brought us together was music. He was wearing a t shirt of my favourite band and I fell for him" Lisa told me. "When we started dating we would wander around London checking out music shops, flicking through CD and vinyl to add to our collections and then head to a local cinema to catch a film. We probably spent more time in the records shops in Soho and a cinema than anywhere else. Many of those films we saw are now our favourite films and we probably know them inside out. I read books like there is no tomorrow and Alex is slowly coming round to that after having spent a lifetime reading comics and graphic novels. I bake cakes every weekend and while I enjoy making them, Alex enjoys eating them so when we are out I always take him to a cake shop so we can have a treat. I am also the official photographer in our relationship and I have the cameras and stacks of photo's to prove it. How much do I love Hayley & Lucas' adorable English countryside engagement shoot? Almost makes me proud to be British! The ever-lovely Lisa Devlin captured the couple in Sussex as they wanted a countryside location and with the yellow flowers, Hayley's outfit and the glorious British summertime light (yes, it does happen sometimes) the scene couldn't have been more perfect. Over the last year or so props have been massively popular in weddings and photo shoots however Hayley & Lucas wanted to keep their shoot simple - just them. They did opt to bring some flowers though and Donal at Pollen came up with the spiky posy of zingy yellow chrysanthemums to contrast beautifully with their rural, natural setting.Read more...

I LOVE a bit of retro kitsch and Caroline & Jim couldn't be more perfect at pulling this off if they tried. The shoot took place in their own Art Deco apartment in Brighton (just check out the exterior shots!) which has been decorated with an eclectic mix of bits and bobs collected from all over and ranging in era from the 1920's right through to the 1970's. I adore everything from the authentic mirror, clocks and Princess Anne collectible mugs to the incredible wallpaper and all the retro furniture. Jim is 'Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer' , a brilliant musician playing all over the country at gigs, weddings, parties and festivals. Caroline has a complete passion for fashion as she works in the fashion industry in London. The pair both embrace everything retro and nostalgic in fashion and styling, so their style was spot on for this style of shoot. The couple both wore all their own clothes to give a completely genuine portrayal of themselves and who they are as a couple.Read more...

Wow, hello beautiful people! Lydia & Zonte may well be one of the coolest couples I've seen in ages. Lydia is South Korean (and must be a model I swear!) and Zonte is a dancer. They live in Kansas City, Missouri but are getting married in South Korea on August 7th. I seriously can't wait to see this wedding - if these engagement shots are anything to go by it's going to be one cool ass wedding! Do I have the coolest readers or WHAT!?!?! I love a good promotional photo shoot (we all know that don't we!) I think they are not only really good fun, but really amazing tools to showcase what you really can do - and therefore hopefully get the clients that you want. Ohio photographer Nikita Gross decided to set up this shoot to show the world what she loves to shoot - kick ass, alternative couples of course! The 'bride' Ashley, who owns Pinnokios Salon in Northside, did her own hair and makeup. . She and her 'groom' Jeremy raided their own closets for these vintage and one-off pieces and the results are just so fun and eclectic.
