Snowy Colorado Elopement at Sunset with Disco Balls & Champagne

Dani and Dacari had been discussing how their big day would look for a long time. Having been together for eight years, they decided to elope because, as they told us, “The stress of figuring out how to include everything and everyone started to chip away at something that was supposed to feel like magic – elopement was the best choice that we could have made for ourselves and our union. We wanted the freedom to commit to each other in a way that felt deeply personal and private.”

The simplicity of an elopement means you can pick and choose exactly what you want (and don’t want!) included, making it deeply personal to you as a couple. Dacari and Dani continued, “The best thing about planning our wedding happened after we broke outside of the expectation of things looking a certain way. We leaned into the idea of choosing things that felt right for us and that felt like fun–and that’s when things really started to fall into place. We enjoyed picking things out and envisioning what our day would look like.”

Nashville Rooftop Wedding Officiated by Divorce Court Judge

A non-traditional, quirky wedding was the ideal celebration for Michelle and Kyne, however they kept some of tradition of a wedding-day routine, just doing it in their own way. The bride is a divorce lawyer and so they had two judge friends officiate and instead of a flowergirl there was an adult ‘flower babe’. The bride, who is almost 40 and had been married and divorced already, walked in with her dad to Rainbow Connection.

Having planned on getting ready in separate rooms, and seeing each other at the aisle for the first time, Michelle and Kyne decided at the last minute to shun that tradition. Michelle explained, “One room had a balcony and better lighting than the other so we both chose to prep there.  On the morning of our wedding, all the details didn’t seem to matter – we just were excited for the festivity.  Helping each other get dressed made so much more sense ultimately. If anyone was to adjust his suspenders, it was meant to be me. When preparing for a major life event, we are supposed to be together.”

Usually a serious, reserved and shy person, Kyne surprised the guests by dancing down the aisle, dressed as Apollo Creed from Rocky IV as Living in America played.  His mates ripped the tear-away robe (which he sewed himself with great care to ensure authenticity!) from him when the song concluded. That wasn’t the only surprise, as Michelle told us, “The ceremony was tag-team officiated by a divorce court judge and a criminal court judge, friends and mentors who decided to surprise us by wearing white curly British barrister wigs with their black robes.”

With Covid keeping Kyne’s family in Australia, the couple livestreamed the ceremony so that everyone could attend virtually and witness their special day. They had only 50 guests there will them on the day.

Colourful Desert Disco Wedding

Working together as scientists, Jimmy found the way to Alisa’s heart through a bag of M&Ms. They wanted a day full of fun, with lots of gorgeous colour and texture, and chose bright pinks, neon signs and disco balls (as well as an inflatable dinosaur costume) to create their perfect day.

Both working hard on the pandemic response, the couple faced many pressures and challenges. Their original wedding planner dropped out just four months before their wedding, but The Otherside Creatives stepped in to save the day! It turned out to be the best decision, as Alisa explained, “Even though it worked out for the best, having to find a new wedding planner and day of coordinator 4.5 months before my wedding really sucked at the time. But they took my initial thoughts and created an amazing design that was beyond anything I could have done on my own. They also took a lot of the stress out of planning.”

At Rock n Roll Bride, we’re firm believers in finding beauty in the every day, but finding beauty in a laundromat might be a first even for us! Bare with us though, as you’ll see from the images that with the right styling, literally anywhere can be a vibe when you throw enough rock n roll at it.

Together with photographer Anne Letournel, Matthieu from Marions Nous Dans Les Bois wild wedding films wanted to create some original wedding inspiration, choosing a vintage laundromat in Rennes, Brittany as their location; a place with an authentic atmosphere that perfectly juxtaposed their disco theme for a completely crazy wedding.

Rainbows, Butterflies, Milkshakes & The Viral Selkie Puff Dress

If you so much as glace at social media these days it’s highly likely that you’ll have come across Selkie, their their puff dresses have been going all kinds of viral since last year. And not without due cause, their hyper feminine princess fairy princess aesthetic is right up our street. As soon as we saw their dresses in fact we knew they would be perfect for a bride, even though they’re not really wedding dresses (who cares when they’re this pretty, huh!?) So, we’re super thrilled that Cassandra Daye Photography felt the same and put this shoot together using the gawwwjus Rainbow Puff dress.

Cassandra told us all about it, “I wanted to create something with Olivia and Josh that was fun, playful and unique, but also represented everyone’s style and personality. Cue the iridescent rainbows and streamers, pastels and disco balls, balloons and roller skates, pink guitars and unicorn milkshakes!”
