Naomi and Stuart, who met in a tattoo shop. wanted a wedding that to ‘make their emo 13-year-old selves proud’. At The City Rooms in Leicester they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony, followed by a reception kicked off with a rock band performance!

“We have both been influenced by heavy music and dark movies”, Naomi told us. “Personally, Tim Burton Corpse Bride was my biggest influence. Stuart liked the idea of looking like a gothy farmer as that’s the way he sees himself in the world.”

The ceremony featured music from Corpse Bride music setting the scene as Naomi walked down the aisle. “It broke me when the chords started to play and I could see my family around”. she recalls. “When we signed our certificates, Stuie requested a Silent Hill theme song which made him very happy.”

The bride wanted to make everything herself, which made planning almost a full time job at times, but she doesn’t regret it at all. She continued, “The handmade table settings and hand drawn signs were fun to make but so time consuming, I wish I had asked for a bit more help. I also made personalised tarot cards for the table names. There were four in total and three were requested to be displayed in various family members homes afterwards. It was such a weird thing as I wanted them to go to those people anyway but I did not tell them. The universe sorted that one out.”

The couple also found clever ways to cut costs without compromising on style. “I chose a prom dress and had it altered, which ended up being about 1/3 of the price of a regular wedding dress,” she notes. Their biggest splurge was on their photographer, a gift from Naomi’s parents.

“Weddings can be expensive, but it’s so worth it”, the bride concluded. “Save where you can but know that you are actually worth the investment – you will never forget this day. I never thought I would get married, but as I’ve got older I’ve realised that love is everything. Coming home to my wonderful husband, dog and ducks is worth so much more than anything else.”
