Casey & Richard’s Sunny, Seaside, Sailor Wedding

Kat

December 3, 2010

My original plan today was to head out into my garden and take some snowy snaps for Photography Friday...however as I stared blankly through my kitchen window I had second thoughts and realised that it's flippin' COLD out there and you know what!? I'd rather stay here, wrapped in my slanket (blanket with sleeves - oh yes that is Rock n Roll!) For some further justification, I've got an amazingly SUNNY wedding from South Africa to share instead. This should warm your cockles...

“Dirt Don’t Hurt” – Crazy Outfits, Silly String & All Out Neon Fun

Kat

August 17, 2010

This ccccrazy couple had a pretty mad wedding followed by an equally (in fact maybe more so) insane trash the dress style shoot. Alongside their photographers, Steph & Ryan wanted to show that the assumptions that some couple's have about trash the dress aren't necessarily true and trash the dress shoots don't literally have to mean your dress is completely destroyed. However by not be afraid of getting the dress a little bit dirty, you really can end up with some totally unique images. I wanted to share a selection from both the couple's wedding and photo shoot as I know both sets of photos bring a huge smile to your face! I love these two!

Kat

June 30, 2010

Oh I love featuring anniversary shoots. I get excited and all mushy to see how in love you guys are even after a few years of marriage...and of course they mean that there is no end to the inspiration I can give you - so don't stop reading Rock n Roll Bride just because you're married you hear!? Sarah & Ben, have been married for 4 years and wanted to do a vintage rustic themed anniversary shoot in a park. They had a sweet lazy picnic going with apples and antique coca cola bottles where they could lie in the grass and enjoy the sun.

Sweethearts in South Africa

Kat

April 16, 2010

This is my second South African post within so many days and I'm pretty sure you're gonna dig this one just as much as the last. The lovely Laura actually found photographer Kat Forsyth through a post on Rock n Roll Bride so this session is even a little extra special to me. The Australian bride-to-be will be marrying her South African sweetheart Gustav (who she met in the UK - boy are these guys travelled!) back in Australia later this year and judging from the coolness of this engagement session, I just know their wedding is going to be Rock n Roll Bride worthy!

Rock that Frock

Kat

March 3, 2010

This fun all day trash the dress shoot was sent over by UK photographer Natasha Hurley. I really love seeingg the evolution of time thoughout these images - from the early morning light in the garden shots, to the late afternoon sun in the graffiti shots and the evening time darkness with the contrast of the artifical lights in the final urban images. Quite appart from that, the bride Miranda looks like she's having a ball and I love love love her heart shaped pink sunglasses.

Quirky & Stunning, British Wedding

Kat

February 22, 2010

Forgive me, but I literally almost wet myself when I saw these shots from the hottest, newest photographer on the block, Emma Case - and can you believe it, this is only her first official 'Emma Case wedding'! (I've featured a wedding she shot for a friend before she decided to pursue it full time.) I got a very excitable email from the lady herself this morning and I couldn't wait to get home to share these right away. "Well, here it is, my very first, official, didn't know the couple before, professional, as 'Emma Case Photography' wedding!" She began. "Christie contacted me back in November and straight away I knew just how ace she was. Not only did she mention fake moustaches and knee-sliding as part of the wedding plan but she was funny and honest and completely on my wavelength. We emailed back and forth in a 'know each other already' type of way and by the time me and Pete were driving up to Devon on the 30th January I was a little nervous but so excited to finally meet her (we didn't get the chance beforehand) and her soon to be husband... the Berninator! The wedding was held at the most amazing Huntsham Court... oh man the bathroom in the bridal suite was AMAZING, oh and the library... and the... well you can see for yourselves, the whole house is stunning! The ceremony (that I wasn't allowed to photograph.. grumble, grumble) was beautiful with a really heartfelt speech from both Christie and Bernie's sisters (I'm gonna have to man up in this profession as I could feel myself going) and then food was served followed by a wonderfully proud speech from the Father of the Bride and a particularly funny song by the Best Man and his guitar! Instead of a wedding cake they had a 'pig'nata (pinata) and for the evening entertainment 'Gabby Young & Other Animals' played their socks off (you need to check this band out) and EVERYONE was dancing! Finish it all off with about 3 hours of The Photo Booth which had me literally in pain through laughing too much and you have all the ingredients for one hot wedding." Thanks to the lovely Emma for sharing these, and I KNOW we'll be seeing a lot more greatness from this girlie (and I can't wait to finally meet her soon!)

Brighton Belles

Kat

January 8, 2010

Ooh two fabulous UK weddings in one day - I love it when that happens. Photographer Julia Boggio told me all about the super stylish and super fun wedding of Andrew & Lisa Andrew and Lisa got married in Brighton in October on a very sunny day at the Hotel Du Vin. The hotel held special significance for the bride because, when it was a pub many years ago, her grandparents used to leave her father as a boy sitting outside with a Coke and some chips to keep him busy while they had a pint with their mates. Thus the picture of her dad with the chips and the Coke! Good photography was extremely important to Andrew and Lisa, who is a graphic designer. Having seen some of my previous work, they had some ideas about stuff they'd like to do; for example, with one of my previous couples, I got them to stand in a shop window. Lisa and Andrew liked this so much that they asked a nearby shop if they could do the same thing. The image of them sitting in the bathtub in the Fired Earth window was the result. Also, for the group shot, they brought loads of props along so we could head down to the beach for some fun. His father cagily told us he would meet us down on the beach and disappeared for a bit. He found us fifteen minutes later, having changed into typical British beach-going wear, complete with hanky tied over his head. Everything about this wedding was great fun!

Eclectic with Candlelight

Kat

January 2, 2010

I love this vintage fashion shoot so much! It has such a cool rustic, almost thrown-together feel with all those eclectic details... and who can resist all those candles? Isn't the light they emit just fantastic? Photographer Katelyn explains: What do you get when you put together 1 1/2 tables, 2 table-cloths, over 120 candles, 7 lanterns, 6 windows, some pretty awesome containers (jars), and some really cool books? an AWESOME outdoor photo shoot! I did a country vintage shoot that lasted through the day and into the night! It never got higher than 40 degrees but my model roughed it and did a great job. Thanks to Katelyn for sharing these with us...I need to do a shoot with candles like, now.

Prop City

Kat

November 27, 2009

Funfairs may have been 'done' in terms of what the cool kids say is 'in' but who gives a monkey's about what they think? It's the same with balloons, candy floss and even sun flair...pah I say to that! The funfair is the perfect backdrop for an engagement shoot - fun, colourful, playful and prop city! I want a photo shoot in at a fun fair in fact. Any offers?! Can't get enough of this beautiful stuff? Well go check out Sandy & John's gallery right here Thanks to Shannon for sharing this adorably perfect session Credit: Shannon Nicole Smith

Make it Perfect

Kat

October 14, 2009

Isn't this just one gorgeous couple? They seriously should be models methinks! Photographer Amelia travel to Utah to shoot this 'engagement' (the couple are actually already married, but hey why has a fact like that gotta stop you?!) I really do love props like the old books and the suitcases. They can make or break a shoot and these have certainly made it perfect. Thanks to the delightful Amelia for sending these in. Mwah! Cuteness Indeed

October 4, 2009

I seem to be getting sent a lot of cuuute engagement sessions recently and this submission from Ashley & Stephanie of the gorgeously named White Rabbit Studios is no different. Amy & Randall had this fun and offbeat session in North Alabama with their friends and photographers (having photographer friends really is the best!) and I think they turned out great. The two are very unique and Amy brought a slew of props to play with during the session. We swooned as Randall serenaded the woman he loves, and giggled as they kissed in between their sips on wine. Thanks to all involved for sharing these with us. Simply stunning! Credit: White Rabbit Studios

Smilebooth

Kat

September 16, 2009

A photo booth at a wedding is pretty much guaranteed to result in some pretty fab photographs, but a smilebooth by Our Labor of Love takes the idea to a whole other dimension. These guys are probably one of the first photographers I remember seeing doing the quirky, props-led style photo booth and I'm sure like me you've seen many others follow suit since. This set has got to be one of my favourite's ever - Stephanie & Wil are such a awesome couple and fun guests who were clearly up for it! Thanks so much to the wonderful Whitney & Jesse for allowing me to share these with you all! Credit: Our Labor of Love
