♥ WristieLove Custom Brooch Winner ♥

Kat

October 16, 2009

Here we go then my pretties, which one of you lovely ladies is the luck winner of the custom brooch by Sana of WristieLove - designed especially to fit your wedding theme? I thought long as hard about this, but my favourite entry, and the winner is.... Bowie Bride who said: Hands down fave: The Mini-Pearl Clockhand Brooch. We’re having a vintage-y, David Bowie-inspired, handmade decor, homemade beer, non-gender-specific bridal party, with my sister playing electric guitar as we float down the ol’ aisle, kinda wedding. We’re not really tied down to color – just a bunch of pastels mixed with black, red, peach, and off-white. We want it to look homemade and antique-y, so this brooch would be a fantastic addition. i would use it to pin on my bouquet – i am making my bouquet from scratch out of pins, brooches, handmade t-shirt flowers, newspaper, and whatever else ‘pretty’ i can find. This brooch is stunning and I would be honored to receive it. Congrats! Sana will be in touch to get all the details to make your prize perfect. I can't wait to see the result! Don't forget, the Love Me Do Photography contest is still very much open. Who wouldn't want free wedding photography!?

WIN ♥ A Gorgeous One of a Kind Brooch from WristieLove

Kat

October 8, 2009

Let me introduce you to WristieLove, an online store selling beautiful organic, vintage or repurposed jewellery pieces that have that mix of intrigue and curious design down to a tee. Owner Sana describes her little shop as Your source for Wedding & Everyday Casual Pretty which perfectly sums up her ethos. This lass from California has always been put on edge by over-formality and she’s right you know, I wouldn’t limited these pieces to just your wedding day – in fact I wish I could wear one everyday! I think anyone can be well dressed and look 'pretty' if they OWN their style, casual or not. She told me I specialize in one of a kind accessories and metalwork. This includes etched copper tags, corsages, brooches and bags that feature curious and sometimes quirky design elements. All of my pieces are hand crafted incorporating organic, vintage (eco in its original form) or repurposed materials.

September 22, 2009

My darlings the time has come - new contest alert woop woop! Ever since our honeymoon in Tokyo I have been somewhat obsessed with all things Japanese - from the fashion to the food I seriously love it all. So you can imagine my delight when I discovered TokyoMade, a fantastic Tokyo-based company who design, make and ship (worldwide!) their awesome kawaii creations. After lusting and swooning a little bit more than what could be deemed as normal over their site, I spoke to the pair behind the company, Masao & Deanne, who were of course delightful! But even better than all this, you lucky lucky readers, the pair have donated three fantastically kitsch and faaabulous Lissita Tresure Globe Rings for a super kawaii giveaway! I will be giving away two prizes this time so you have two ways to enter. 1. Comment below saying which ring you would like to win (Bow, Violin or Fly...the third one will be mine but I can't choose which one to keep as I love them all so whichever one doesn't get won I will keep!) and why. 2. Follow both @RocknRollBride and @TokyoMade on Twitter and tweet the following message @RocknRollBride @TokyoMade I need to win the XXX ring because.... You have until Friday 25th September to enter. WIN! ♥ A New York Love Story ♥

Kat

August 10, 2009

I ♥ New York. I’ve only been lucky enough to visit the city once before, but I have to say, after Tokyo, it is quite possibly my favourite city in the world (and seriously makes London look rubbish – sorry London.) As if you New Yorkers weren’t lucky enough, your life is about to get ever just a teensy tiny bit better. Oh yes, I kid you not – I have such a ridiculously amazing contest for you that I wish I could fly the hell over there and win the damn thing myself! Todd Ritondaro, who has worked on a range of films ranging from national commercials to small indie films is now branching into the world of wedding film and wants to make a little film about love in the big apple and he needs subjects... and that’s where you come in. He is giving away a free film shoot where you will play the lead. He will follow you and your beau documenting your story – where you met, where you hang out, where you fell in love… I am going to make films exploring the nuances of couples relationships, and film them in the place where they met, the places that are important to them, their regular bars and restaurants, the objects and events they give meaning to, etc. I'm fascinated by these kinds of dynamics and intricacies in relationships. I am approaching this idea the same way that I do when I shoot a narrative film, in that there would be a script of some kind, set locations, and a shot list. In some instances I would light them as well. Visually, I'm picturing something very cinematic and stylized. Not your usual wedding video. I feel like it’s hard to really get this in depth when shooting a couple on their wedding day. I think this approach is much more interesting and then allows the couple to use it on their website and screen it at their wedding. So, how about it? To be eligible you must have met and fallen in love in New York City and should still live there now. The shoot will take a full day and will happen sometime in September. To enter, drop me an email entitled ‘We fell in love in New York City’ and let me know, in no more that 250 words your New York story – how you met, how you fell in love and what New York means to you. Please include a recent photograph in your entry.
