Trash The Dress

Rock that Dress

Kat

January 15, 2010

An old elevator and a creepy, deserted boiler room made for the setting du jour for Patrica's Trash the Dress shoot. The venue was actually the basement of the hair salon she works in (Celebrity Hair in Edmonton) Photographer Elizabeth explains: The elevator in the building is just awesome with old scuffed hardwood floors, wood grate and brick walls surrounding. Patricia worked a pretty traditional looking dress, but the photos are far from traditional! We had some fun with a big chunk of tulle that looks awesome in the photos! We ended he session in the very scary pitch black boiler room. The only light in there was the flashlight that I was using to light the session. It was so quiet and creepy down there and then every so often the boiler would roar to life! Was scary, but totally worth it because look at how awesome the photos are! Just a reminder that you don’t need a pretty building and trees and flowers to take awesome wedding photos! Thanks to Elizabeth and Patrica for sending these over to us today

I'm over the moon to be able to introduce you to yet another amazing photographer this week. This time it's Arizona based photographer Michelle Love-Myers of Shelly Love Photography. Some of my long-term readers will be well aware of Michelle's work as I've featured her a number of times before, but to many of you she may be a relatively new talent. However I guarantee you're going to love her raw, edgy and seriously kick ass attitude and imagery.

Smoking Hot, Red Themed Trash the Dress (in the Snow!)

Kat

January 7, 2010

The UK may be currently crippled by snow (again!) but the residents of Nebraska are more than used to the cold - even so far as to some being crazy enough to brave the -12 degrees C temperatures to shoot a smoking hot, red themed trash the dress session. I salute you! The bride, Taumi, bought her dress online at Bridesave for $120 (that included gloves) and her veil was ordered on ebay for $12. Bargains! I love the daring flashes of red with her tights, shoes and cardigan - they certainly add something extra to the snowy scened shoot. Right, so who wants to come to Rock n Roll Bride HQ and do a snowy bridal shoot with me today!? Thanks to Aubrey & Josh for sharing this awesome and inspiring shoot with us today

Paint the Dress

Kat

The photographer certainly knows best with this one, so over to Wes for all the details behind this tattooed, painted, vintage fashioned shoot: Melissa & Grant's Trash the Dress session was totally rocking from the bride's amazing tattoos to their desire to have lots of fun with paint and silly string! The bride wore a vintage gown (not sure of the designer) and it up with a pink crinoline underskirt and a pair of sweet hot pink heels. To be fair, this was not the dress she wore for her wedding...she had purchased two and decided to wear one on her wedding day and one for the TTD. All in all they were a simply awesome couple who were down for anything. BTW, we used nontoxic paint so as not to damage the natural surroundings and picked up every last piece of silly string. Thanks to Wes for sharing this fun shoot. Painting a dress is certainly cool.

November 9, 2009

After the frankly ridiculous popularity of the Love Me Do free wedding photography contest, I have been chomping at the bit to get this next one up and running! Erica Berger...ahh what can I say that I haven't said before!? Her work is phenomenal, I'm pretty sure that's all you need to know! Go check out the interview I did with her a few weeks ago and remind yourself already. Got it? Yeah you have! OK, so hella exciting news people. The ever lovely Erica is offering one lucky couple a free trash the dress shoot and she will travel anywhere in the world! All you need to do is pay for her travel and lodgings (if applicable - ie if you are outside of San Francisco where she is based) and you could have your very own set of Erica Berger originals to adorn your walls. Ace or what!? To enter, simply drop me an email to kat@rocknrollbride.com entitled 'We want to get trashed with Erica Berger' and let me know is no more that 200 words, what your ideal trash the dress shoot would be. I want your idea, where you would carry out the shoot (feel free to include a photograph) and what you would be wearing. Although the contest is not exclusively open to already married couples the shoot will feature you in your wedding outfits so please include a recent photograph of you and your beau in your wedding finest if possible! Erica will then travel to you on a date decided between the 3 of you to make your idea come to life. As always think outside the box with this one. Your wildest and wackiest trash the dress fantasy is what I want - don't hold back! Our favourite entries will then go head to head in a public vote, which as we saw from last week can get pretty fierce! Terms & Conditions
