Rock n Roll Bride - The ultimate guide for alternative brides

Rustic

Rustic Glamour

Kat

September 22, 2009

The Marvimon in LA has become rather an iconic venue to me over this past year. I have never failed to adore every wedding I'm sent that has taken place within it's walls. Sabrina & Kevin's is no different. The day started as a somewhat traditional western affair - she: a bundle of radiance in her pastel palette and Claire Pettibone gown and he: the perfect accompaniment to his bride. The bridesmaids looked stunning and the flowers (supplied La Partie Events) were out of this world gorgeous. The whole day exudes rustic glamour. Come nightfall, Sabrina changed into a Kimono for the festivities and family party. Thanks, as ever, to the always lovely Erin & Court for allowing me to share this gorgeous wedding! This wedding has also been featured on The Bride's Cafe but I couldn't resist a little sneak too! Credit: ErinHeartsCourt

I have been hoping to post this wedding for what feels like forever and fiiiinally I am able to share the gorgeousness that is these images taken at Bowden Johnson House Thomson, Ga. Devan's dress was by Mori Lee and her veil was handmade and bought from Etsy....but my favourite bit? Well Tripp and the dog in their bow ties of course! A huge thanks to Ellie for working with me on this feature! Be sure to check out her blog for the couple's equally wicked engagements!

An Old Fashioned Love Affair

Kat

September 17, 2009

Anna & Ryan's wedding was marvelously simple, rustic, old-fashioned romantic affair. Think prairie flowers, wheat, fabric streamers, ball jars and parasols. The round barn that was host to the event belongs to Anna's family. Anna's dress was made by her Mum and was closely based on a design by an independent Italian designer named Mirit Weinstock who sends her clothes out to girls around the world to wear in self portraits to promote her clothing (check out the 'birthday' video on her homepage - it's fab). Her hairpiece was by the always fabulous Which Goose. After the ceremony (in which both Anna & Ryan only had one attendant each) there was a picnic lunch and after the picnic, everyone went to the couple's studio (they are also both photographers) to mingle. The reception was in a place called the Forum... an old theatre converted into a bar/event hall which was right across the street from their apartment/studio. Photographer Mysi described the reception vibe as being very much like a movie: amazing people... loud, happy and not a bit of drama. there was a moment during the last song of the night where about 30 of us danced while joined together in an enormous group hug (hard to breathe in there) and screamed the song ... when i realized i should be taking a photo of the spectacle, but i was too happy to watch from the outside. the best part of that was it wasn't forced or annoying or drunken or awkward. it was just joyous. Thanks so much to Mysi for all her hard work on this feature - she has also given me a sneak peek of her own wedding (they just got back from their honeymoon themselves) and it is beyond adorable so I hope I will be able to share those too soon! Cowboys & Rockstars

Kat

Chris & Todd had two reasons to celebrate on their wedding day as Chris was 7 1/2 months pregnant! Her gorgeous dress and bolero were custom made by Elizabeth Dye and complimented her baby bump beautifully. I hope I look this radiant if I ever have kids. The couple incorporated everything they love into the day, as photographer Heather Hawksford described it - 'canoeing, horseshoe, croquet, Pete Krebs Trio, The Dickle Brothers, cowboys & rockstars chatting over homemade beer' Sounds perfect huh? Vintage Rural

August 3, 2009

Part three of Caroline Ghetes' modern vintage bridal sessions landed on my online lap this afternoon and it's a corker. This final installment has much more of a country feel - the shed, the field, the horses, the cowboy boots, the rustic, casual florals (made by Caroline herself!) - but that doesn't stop me from having a hell lotta love for them. The model's dress was supplied by etsy seller Lorimarsha (it's the same dress as used in the 'aviation' shoot) and her pink hairpiece was by Chamberry Cherry, who can also be found onEtsy. Clicky here for part one and two... Thanks to Caroline for sharing her newest work with us.

God Only Knows What I’d Be Without You

Kat

July 30, 2009

"Good morning, starshine... the earth says hello!" Boy am I one crazy blogger - got to bed at 3am last night and at 8.30 this morning I am raring to go again. Sleep? What's that? Prepare for another day of wowing by the way... Lets get going with this simple yet beautiful backyard wedding, given a little bit of a retro feel with Danielle's stunning dress which was made by Siri and Wade's suit which was from Banana Republic. Photographer Carey, loved telling me about this wedding: When Danielle came out to the Beach Boy's "God Only Knows', you knew it was going to be a great night. It was out at Wade's family farm (just outside of Regina, Saskatchewan), and was just a really relaxed fun day. There wasn't too much of a theme, but the little pieces added gave it a really comfy feeling. The food was bbq'd, little homemade Canadian honey was given to the guests, there was music and dancing all night, fireworks, a firepit with smores and weiner roasting, and people camping to stay the night. Thanks to Carey for sharing the love...

The Sci-Fi Geek & The Blue Ballerina Shoes

Kat

July 3, 2009

Yep, this is what I love about the weddings I feature - the awesome uniqueness. Sometimes I find it hard not to share the same picture perfect weddings I see popping up all over blog-land and I even have to give myself a little talking to sometimes and tell myself you love little old Rock n Roll Bride for how different the wedding's that I feature are... right? Now Megan & Bob's wedding's pretty prettiness goes without saying, but I'm loving that the Groom dressed as Doctor Who and the Bride wore her something blue on her toes. Cute and original..and that bloody rocks. Kudos to photographer Ashley for sharing the geek chic love

Outdoorsy, Shabby Chic Gorgeousness

Kat

June 26, 2009

I am slightly reluctant to say this is one of my favourite, rustic, outdoorsy, shabby chic weddings ever as I seem to be saying things like that a lot..but I kinda can't help it. I adore every single details about this wedding, from the cute (almost kitch!) Mr&Mrs balloons to the Bride's stunning dress and shoes (shoes from Nordstrom, details on the dress to come once the couple get back from Honeymoon!) These will be popular with you all I'm sure of it. Sarah Yates you rocked this photography, thanks so much for all the sharing!

Utterly Sweet Weddings

Kat

June 24, 2009

I have a couple of gorgeous sets from Sweet Monday Photography to share with you today, starting with the stunning, rustic wedding of Naama & Greg. What drew me to this wedding straight away was Naama's beautifully simple and cute dress but what kept me going through all the photographs was all the gorgeous little details they put into their day. The couple were married at Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles and Neema got her dress from Ebay, oh yes! It was a real family affair with all the flowers coming from her Mum's garden and her sister Melissa makingall the stationary. The couple also put all the favours and table numbers together themselves. The result is a completely gorgeous DIY soiree!
