Jade and Simon’s took over Cultplex in Manchester for their wedding ceremony, turning the stage in front of the big screen into their altar. As the bride is polyamorous, this wasn't about tradition or legality - in fact the ceremony was not actually legally binding - all they cared about was creating something that felt collaborative and real. The bride's other partners were also involved in the day, acting as their officiant and doing readings. With a budget of just £3,000, they pulled off a wedding that was totally DIY.

Spooky weddings don’t just belong at Halloween. Karina and Jeff proved it with a gothic summerween slasher celebration in the middle of Arnos Vale Cemetery this June. The choice of venue raised eyebrows. Some people called it "kooky", but for Karina it was personal. She used to go there to read during a hard time in her life and later discovered her great-grandparents were buried there. “Even though I never met them it made me feel more connected to the place and its beauty,” she told us. They also had a hearse limo for the day instead of a normal car, "I really felt like Morticia Addams!" she said.

Helena and Josh didn’t want a big wedding and they didn’t want a church. What they did want was fog, foliage, and something that felt a little haunted. They landed on a plan that involved flying to New England with only two guests - Helena’s mother and Josh’s son Dexter - and getting married in front of an old water mill, just after Halloween, wearing outfits that wouldn’t look out of place in a Hammer Horror film.

They also handmade everything from the bride's accessories (including her Slayer garter!) to all the flowers, and the stationery to all the reception décor. The wedding was held at the Orlando Science Center with the ceremony on the rooftop and the reception down with the dinosaurs!

Aynhoe Park might be one of the weirdest and most wonderful wedding venues in the UK... because it's stuffed (boom boom!) full of taxidermy! Everywhere you look the walls are adorned with animals. They even have a full sized giraffe being held up by balloons! Rosie and James wanted somewhere unusual to host their alternative wedding and Aynhoe Park was just perfect.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a little freaked out by this shoot... in fact I'm damn right scared. I don't think I'd like to get stuck in a dark alley with this pair as lovely as I bet they are when they're not covered in fake blood. Amy & Paul went all out with this post-wedding shoot - murder, fake blood, suicide and all! Warning: this baby is not for the faint hearted. I'm under no disillusion that not everybody is going to like or 'get' this. But Paul & Amy do and really, that's all that matters isn't it?!
