Engagement

Drowning in Sun Light

Kat

January 5, 2010

Makah & Andre's engagement shoot makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside; and as I sit here in my Slanket and fingerless gloves (I kid you not) I am so excited that they shared them with me! The South American couple met at the party of a mutual friend and they got married in December. After seeing these I am very excited to see their wedding photographs now too...I hope they make me feel just as snuggly warm. Thanks to Makah & Andre for sharing these with us

Light Up

Kat

January 3, 2010

Is it just me or did Christmas just zoom by!? The build up is always huge and I can't believe it's all over with now. As blog-land slowly wakes up after a much needed rest (not me..too much of a blogaholic I am...take two weeks off? Are you nuts?!) I'm still swooning over the many Crimbo-related submissions I've been receiving. Catie & Dave's engagements stood out as soon as photographer Lisa sent them to me. Not only is Catie a huge fan of Rock n Roll Bride (she gets instant kudos and jumps the the front of the featuring queue for that one) but the couple's shoot is nothing short of spectacular. The Christmas lights really bring the shots alive and how can I resist the fact that to propose, Dave got 'Will you marry me?' inked on his arm, thank God she said yes! Thanks to Lisa for sharing these and to Catie & Dave for being aweome. I can't wait to see how their wedding turns out in October.

2009 – The Year That Was {Part One}

Kat

December 30, 2009

As is customary at this time of year, I wanted to take some time to look back over the last 12 months and share with you some of my most favourite weddings, photo shoots and features. I think you'll be hard pushed to not find something that makes you go 'ooooh' amongstthis lot. Enjoy a-reminiscing! I'll be back tomorrow with part 2 (there's too much to narrow it down to just one post!) I'm also taking this slow blog-time (I like to refer to it as 'Crimbo Limbo' (!) to ponder my ideas and plans for Rock n Roll Bride in 2010. I'll try and share my musings for the year ahead with you soon and would love for you to let me know what you think. It's all about you dear reader after all...

Camden Rocks

Kat

December 21, 2009

Camden Market in North London is where all the cool kids hang out. The streets are littered with funky bars, awesome boutiques and stores that can only be described as treasure troves. With thrift and charity shops filled to the rafters with gems a-plenty, gothic stores fit to bursting with corsets, black lace and fishnet tights and a tattoo parlour on every corner, it's easy to see why the location is a seemingly perfect one for a Rock n Roll engagement shoot. Thanks to Chanelle for sending these over. Rock on baby!

Hitting you Sideways

Kat

December 17, 2009

Omar & Laarni's ridiculously awesome engagement session was shot using a Mamiya RB67 Polaroid Back Camera by the genius brothers that are MangoRED. Now I may be obsessed with beautiful photography, but most technical jargon totally passes me by. Yet I thought it necessary to include that information with this post, as I'm sure, if you're anything like me, these will I literally stop you in your tracks as they hit you sideways with their awesomeness. LE . SWOON . Thanks to Randall & Ryan for just being so damn cool Credit: MangoRED

Crazy in Love

Kat

December 16, 2009

A 'typical' engagement session this certainly is not. Axioo have gone and blown my mind again! Fun, flirty, hilarious, sexy, cool, crazy and quirky all in one shoot - you're going to go nuts for these. For Nico & Emil, together we came up with the craziest mix of ideas to show who they are. Each with a color of their own, but together they are truly one of a kind. Emil is gorgeous, when I first met her I really thought she's model or miss beauty queen. She's elegant, edgy and yet quirky...who would have thought she's a dentist. Nico is all out wacky, funny and full of expression. It's been a while since i know someone like Nico, he reminds me of Ivan our uber-hyper-creative photographer. Thanks to David for making me laugh today Credit: Axioo

Marylebone Lovers

Kat

December 14, 2009

Wooo more UK fabulousness people - this time with a kick ASS engagement shoot shot in Marylebone, London. For me, Emily & Callum epitomise London cool. Casual, funky, stylish and quirky - just the way I like it! Emily describes herself as a rock chick with a passion for vintage glamour, so I wanted to do something a bit different for them. We shot at night in a grungy car-park and the park next door, I still had to use a bench though! Thanks to Andy for sharing. Come on the UK!

Sweet Tooth

Kat

December 2, 2009

I actually featured newbie photographer Shannon McLaughlin's own wedding waaaay back in February - many of you may recognise her as Mrs Candy Corn from Wedding Bee. Well, like many of us recent brides, the thought of giving up all things wedding once she'd tied the knot was too much to bear so she decided to venture into wedding photography herself...and oh how pleased we are that she did! She has only had her professional camera for a little over a month and look how awesome she is already! The recently engaged Veronika & Bryan acted as models for this shoot. Veronika owns her own vintage shop called Sweet Tooth Vintage through the fabulous Etsy so she had lots of amazing outfits to wear. I am also loving the various props and locations used for this shoot - an environmental centre in Philadelphia, the couple's own home (including their insane number of pets!) and a cuuuute tandem bike! A Huge Rock n Roll thank you ro Shannon for sharing her work and this amazing couple. I am so excited to see more of her in future! ps go check out her blog - it's super duper cute! An Engagement Session on Steriods

Kat

November 25, 2009

Part two of today's love for The Philippines comes in the form of these stunning images sent by Jeffroger Kho. Arthur & Sheilan are one seriously cool couple and I am nuts about that purple dress! Jeffroger described this session as 'an engagement session on steriods' and I certainly have to agree. It's not everyday a photographer shoots a couple in a spooky, abandoned house that looks like it belongs on an Asian horror movie set or on a windswept beach standing in a box and wrapped in clingfilm! These shots seriously wouldn't look out of place in Vogue and I am smitten. Thanks to Jeffroger for thinking of me and knowing how much I'd love these when he sent them over!

Elegant & Quirky

Kat

November 25, 2009

I'm having a bit of a Philippines love fest today because as many of you will know I seem to adore everything that comes out of that country. The photographic style is so elegant yet so quirky, so fashion-let but so personal. Love love love. I'm starting off with newbie photographer Joey Boquiren who sent me Filmore & Margaux' engagement session...now tell me I'm wrong! Super stylish yet super sweet and personal right? Faaabulous Thanks to Joey for sharing these

Indie Rock

Kat

November 23, 2009

Hello again you gorgeous creatures, I hope you didn't miss me too much this weekend (although I was pretty rubbish at staying away - my phone kept me up to date quite nicely with Twitter and Facebook!) I'm starting this week off with a bang, firstly with the adorably indie Leanne & Nate and their beyond perfect engagement session. Photographer Noa has really been making waves in blog land over the last few months and as always it is my absolute pleasure to share this session that she sent me. As always thanks Noa. You rock my world! People, hold on to your knickers and pop back here in a few hours to find out your three finalists for the Erica Berger Trash the Dress contest. In the words of Dermot O'Leary "They'll need your votes!" (I understand that only makes sense if you're in the UK but oh well!) Credit: FeatherLove Photography
