Colourful, Graffiti & Skateboard Wedding Inspiration

Graffiti Warehouse shoot -110

When Erica from Mr and Mrs Unique and Jodie from Alternative Events sat down to plan this shoot, their main goal was to produce something that was vibrant, inspiring and most of all fun! I think all you colour lovers out there will just adore this!

“The shoot took place at The Boiler House in Cardiff”, said Erica, “and it was the perfect backdrop with its Keith Haring inspired graffiti wall art. I was keen to turn the industrial unit into something couples could envisage as a wedding reception space.”

Tattooed and Black Themed Elopement in Melbourne: Rob & Edie

Now this, my friends, is what being a Rock n Roll bride is all about. It’s not about flowers, or favours or a fancy wedding venue. It’s not about what you wear, who your bridesmaids are or what theme you have. Being a Rock n Roll bride is about doing your own thing, marching to your own beat, and saying “I do” in a way that feels right for the two of you. That’s exactly what Rob and Edie did which is why I’m so excited to share their wedding with you today.

Married in Melbourne, their ceremony was held at the Marriage Bureau in South Yarra. After the intimate service, the headed to the Windsor Hotel for dinner with their guests.

“We met while skating at a skate park in Melbourne. I fell off my board and Edie (who was also skating) came over to see if I was OK”, said Rob. “We struck up a friendship by talking about things we had in common, and I asked her out for dinner. We wanted a very small and intimate wedding ceremony. We decided to elope to keep it a small affair with only a handful of people closest to us invited.”

Molly & Sam’s beautiful vintage rockabilly wedding was held at The Promethean in Adelaide.

Before the ceremony, the couple met at Cafe Salsa – a 50’s themed beach cafe – for photographs. They also has some shots taken at the skateboard park as Sam and his friends can often by found hanging out there.

They walked down the aisle to ‘Rose of my Heart’ by Jonny Cash. The party went on until 5am!”

Hitchfest 2010 – Bowie Bride Gets Wed – The Engagement Session

Confession: I have been looking forward to Britt & Mike’s wedding for like, a year. Britt runs the awesome blog Bowie Bride where she’s been sharing with us their “oh so pec-u-liar” journey to the alter in her own, totally kick ass, anti-wedding industry and super colourful, DIY-mad way.

I first ‘met’ Britt about a year ago when she entered a contest on my site. She actually won, and since then I’ve not only been slightly obsessed with her blog but I’ve been slightly obsessed with her. In a girl-crush kinda way! We actually probably talk everyday, how mad is that?! We have a mutual love of Maine Coons though so we always have something to talk about even if it is just exchanging photographs of our respective pets on Facebook.

Anyway, I digress. Britt & Mike got married in LA last month. They DIY-ed the whole thing and spent only $12,000 to do it. I am SO FLIPPING EXCITED that I get to be the blog to share it. I literally can not wait!

70’s Chic & Matchy Matchy Cuteness

I have so much love for Gretchen & Darby’s cute, retro, geek chic engagement sesh. Not only did the chalkboard/hearts location slay me, but their fashion choices are just so perfect…and they match each other in an oh-so-cute and not at all puke-worthy way. The super bright checked set, the crazy 70’s jumpers set and the lilac-y matching dress and tie set. Oh so adorable! I love love love them.

Skate Park Bridal

On a cold November Sunday morning a recent bride and her photographer headed down to a skate park for a bridal shoot complete with skateboarders, boys on bikes and a big dog (eek!) She wore her wedding dress which was by Donatella and two different pairs of shoes (no,  not at the same time) which were both from Next. I am particularly loving the bright blue pair which were from their Runway Collection.
