Tommy & Meredith are so damn cute n cool that it hurts! I am dying over their simple but perfect engagement session and their matching red and black checks are way-too-adorable. Both artists, it was obvious that they'd have to do something super creative for their engagement session. It just so fun and natural!Read more...

No joke, I've been looking forward to seeing this wedding for weeks. I met up with photographer Emma Case a little while ago when she was down in London and as we wondered around Topshop (obviously the first place one might head when in central London!) she was eager to tell me all about this amazing wedding she'd just shot. It sounded phenomenal then and it's even more awesome when I've put these images to the story.Read more...

Whenever the sun shines in London about 80% of the population speculate going to the beach and Brighton is usually the first port of call. It's quirky, it's quaint, it's nostalgic, it's hilariously British and it has a killer night life! So when it came for Charlie & Ross to have their 'Cherish the Dress' wedding shoot, where better to descend then this wonderful beach location!? The couple actually got married in December so they thought the juxtapositionof having some lovely, warming, outdoor shots would be absolutely perfecto.Read more...

There are a select few UK photographers that I truly love and I think Pippa Mckenzie may be joining that group. I fell in love with her relaxed, documentary inspired style and couldn't wait to share this rockin' Brighton engagement session with you. "Natalie & James live in Surrey, and often hang out in Brighton" Pippa told me. "They are young, quirky and very successful property developers. They are such a cool, hip and fun loving couple and we wanted to really capture their characters in their e-Shoot. They had a few costume changes for the shoot to contrast the beach shots with classy rock n roll amongst the Brighton Lanes. We thought the edgy surroundings of Brighton really complimented their characters."Read more...

I love a shoot with a great story behind it...especially when it revolves around people I know! When bride-to-be Laura checked in on Rock n Roll Bride a few months ago she fell in love with the work of UK photographer, David McNeil. She promptly contacted him to arrange an engagement shoot in Brighton. Her fiance Nick and her turned up on the morning of the shoot, only to discover that unbeknownst to both of the boys, they already knew each other! David and Nick actually used to work together long before David tried his hand at wedding photography and Nick got engaged...but wait the tale gets stranger because when David sent me these images it turns out I used to work with Nick too! What a small world...Read more...

The event started the day before, with everyone coming together to set up and organise for the next day's festivities. "On Thursday, after Seba and I spent two days on vacation exploring Castro, we met up with Anita, Alan, and about 30 of their closest friends." Kyle told me "We carpooled from Castro to Quicavi, another little seaside town, where we would take a boat to Voigue. But first, we had to load that bad boy up. When all was said and done, I was nearly certain that we would sink. I have never seen so much stuff packed into such a small space. I mean, pretty much the entire wedding, minus the tent, was being transported. As soon as we arrived on the island, everyone set up their tents, we ate lunch and then we got right to work — and by “we,” I mean everybody else worked really hard and Seba and I photographed them working really hard."Read more...

The pair employed no wedding vendors (except photographer Amber Hughes) for their wedding. They did the whole thing themselves and did it in style to boot! No expensive venue (they got married at home and had their wedding day shoot at Seawall) no over-priced outfit (Magalie wore a dress from BCBG, boots from Chooka with a flower in her hair from H&M.) The flowers were purchased in bulk from different florists in town and the couple put them together themselves. The tissue paper pom-poms were from a Martha Stewart tutorial. They pulled all the food and drinks together themselves and Magalie did her own hair and makeup.Read more...

Bonnie & Cabe's Santa Barbara engagement session is the perfect prequel to their wedding, also in Santa Barbara, this summer. However when the couple first told photographer Paul they wanted their engagement session to be at their apartment and favorite local spots, he was actually kind of worried that the photos would turn out less dynamic and exciting to what he usually likes to shoot. He needn't have worried! The session took place on the most beautiful sunny winter day and with Bonnie, an artist and photographer and Cabe, a musician, he was set up for the perfect shoot for this creative couple.Read more...

I think I need to move to New York. All the cool kids are moving there - including the photographer behind this fabulous engagement session, Lindsey McKinley. The tattoos (of course) the radical yellow bow/net thingy, the long haired groom to be and the Coney Island setting convince me at NYC is definitely optimisation of cool. I just wanted to share a few images from Jed & Sarah's funky yet classic Brighton wedding. Brighton is a really eclectic town on the South coast of England. Brighton is full of eccentric characters and this wedding was so fun and quirky, even the registrar had kooky shoes and piercings. The bride and groom were very cool - her mother in law made the dress and I think she looks fab, they got wed in the pavillion, then onto a double decker to the Grand Hotel for some food and drinks....It was all about their colourful personalities and the offbeat alternative nature of Brighton which I made sure to feature in as many of the shots as possible. Anthony & Shealyn were actually not engaged at the time the session took place. However, just a week after the shoot they realized that they just could not live without each other and got engaged! Photographer Sheri told me all about the day: Other than specifying that they'd like incorporate purple balloons (which Anthony brought to Shealyn on their first date) we were left to our own creative devices. I was inspired by their edgy style and chose backdrops that would make them pop. I like the contrast of their hard, black style against the softness of the beach and the lightheartedness of the balloons. We walked back to their apartment and they suggested hopping into the pool... mind you this was early January and cold even by San Diego standards. Thanks to Sheri for sharing these shoot with us...and I have to say I totally love Shealyn's dress which actually came from the Miley Cyrus/Max Azria for Wal-Mart! Rock n Roll indeedy. I have quite literally died and gone to vintage wedding heaven. This is one of those shoots, that as soon as I saw just one little sneak peak, I emailed the photographer right. that. second to demand to be able to feature them! The ever lovely Lisa of Ophelia Photography was of course more than willing to allow me to have my way with these, and boy am I excited to share. All you lovers of vintage fare are going to go just gaga. Perched on top of stone angel in a Vintage Wedding Gown and a crown of baby pink flowers, Corrie is slipping, almost falling. But that doesn’t compromise her poise; she tries a funny face (very Audrey Hepburn)surprise and a cool couture profile as she lengthens her leg just so. I hold my breath and click my camera following her lead, she is pure magic. When I purchased a Vintage Wedding Gown from GT Antiquesin Port Alberni BC, a few months ago I was instantly overwhelmed with visions of ethereal, romantic, and beautiful images. I conceptualized a beautiful young women who belonged in another world, from a distant time. I knew that the gown would fit perfectly on one of my favourite muses Miss Corrie Flint. Corrie is the type of model that truly evokes a character, and she is not afraid to “go there” and take risks. It is always such an amazing experience to photograph her. Thanks to Lisa for sharing these with us....oooh oooh oooooh don't you just LOVE them!?Read more...

I wanted to share a few images if Caitlin on her wedding day as I think she looked every bit the simple vintage beauty. We had an intimate wedding with the whole family bringing it together from the dress, the caterer and all the details in the house for the reception. I chose the vintage look because it not only totally works with my own personal style, it is a classic look that will never grow old. I didn't want to look back 20 years from now and say "What was I thinking?!" Even now if you look at pictures from the '40's and '50's, you can only say how beautiful and glamorous everyone and everything looked. My dress was something we found in a boutique wedding dress shop in Los Gatos. Actually it turned out to be a better pick for me then the $6500 designer dresses that I originally had wanted! (Mine was only $500!!) Thanks to Caitlin and Jessica for sharing these words and images with us Credit: Jess Epstein PhotographyRead more...
