Carolin and Benny, from Germany, eloped at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs. They wanted their wedding to be completely on their own terms. The bride wore trousers from Topshop with a cropped top from Free People because she wanted to feel comfortable and like herself on the most important day of her life!
“Our wedding was very spontaneous and just for us”, said Carolin. “The day before we got married we chilled at the Ace Hotel pool and in the evening we met Sam and Josh, our photographer and videographer, for dinner and then Ron, our reverend, for a pre-wedding chat.”
“We didn’t had any stress. The Ace was the perfect place for us, we really loved how relaxed and cool it was. We are really into mid-century style. We bungalows and clean furniture. Neither of us like to be the centre of attention so we didn’t want to have any guests because we wanted to have this special moment just for us. We love the vibe in California so it was the perfect place for us to have our very private ceremony.”

I don't know about you, but for me one of the greatest things about stalking people on the internet is when they get married and I can all fall in love with them a little bit more! I've been virtually following Kaylah, aka The Dainty Squid, online for years (we share an obvious mutual affinity with colourful hair!) so when I saw her June wedding to long-term partner Jeff I was thrilled. I poured over their beautiful images for what felt like hours, soaking up every last beautiful drop. So, when their photographer Madeline Barr submitted them for us to publish I obviously had to say yes, and did so in about 5 seconds flat.

Samantha and Jason didn't want a colour scheme, they didn't want a big fuss and they certainly didn't want their wedding to overtake their lives. So instead of taking the traditional route, they decided to rent an AirBnB in Joshua Tree and have a low key yet perfectly 'them' wedding in the desert. Both lovers of this environment, they've spent many vacations exploring places such as Joshua Tree, Mojave, Red Rock and Death Valley. Surrounded by their nearest and dearest they said their "I do's" under a homemade arch, with the ceremony officiated by the bride's sister.

A lot of you will no doubt remember Whit and Colby's 'Non Wedding' shoot by the incredible Brooke Davis. It was one of my most popular wedding features of all time, and weirdly, sparked quite a bit of debate. But to those that said it was an irrelevant shoot with no real meaning to actual brides and grooms - today I present to you Alicia and Phill. After seeing those images not only booked Brooke to shoot their elopement, but went for their very own 'Non Wedding' theme - a secret ceremony and a party in their own back garden. Inspiration is everywhere.

An intimate park ceremony, a trip to a cupcakery and a wedding that's an unpretentious as they get. With just $4000, Tyler & Revonna were wed at Council Crest Park in Portland, OR with just their two best friends in attendance. Their low key 'reception' was at Jake’s Grill, a local restaurant which they both love. The bride even made her own wedding dress, headpiece and the dress that her bridesmaid wore.

It's no secret that I am completely obsessed with Made U Look's photography. I know I'm not supposed to have favourites and all, but if I was forced... well, they'd be way up there. They just kill it every time. Which is why, when Vicki and Lee sent me the photos of their elopement at a church in the Californian desert, shot by Made U Look, I didn't hesitate for one second when I replied saying "Yes, yes, yes I want to feature you!"
