A Las Vegas Alice in Wonderland

Amber & Mike pride themselves on their unconventionality and so wanted to make sure their wedding was just that too. “It made perfect sense to go to Vegas,” Amber told me.¬†“However, we even bucked Vegas tradition by not getting married in a small chapel by Elvis. We found an amazing garden complete with ducks, just right off the strip. I’d like to consider our wedding half elopement, half planned (we planned in 4 weeks). My muse for the entire wedding was a single lipstick that I’m obsessed with called Melrose Mood. Imagine the most obnoxiously, opaque, electric baby baby pink and you’re sort of close to what it looks like.”

The bride is a make up artist so did all her hair and make up herself. In fact she seemed to almost enjoyed the getting ready part of the day as much as the actual wedding bit! “I spent the morning with my bridesmaids doing make up, eating gummy dice and card cookies (amongst other treats). We had an amazing bridal photo shoot in the atrium at Bellagio where we captured some sweet Alice inspired photos. Which is totally fitting since my husband is related to the real Alice in Wonderland, Alice Liddell (can you say “keeper”?). I wore were 6 inch heels entirely covered in Swarovski crystals. Needless to say the bridal shoot stopped traffic.”

The actual wedding was intimate and personal and very much ‘them’. “We took a limo to the venue and performed a short civil ceremony. Afterwards we ate dinner with family at a small organic restaurant. Our cake was two tears of red velvet with butter cream. Our wedding favors were little french macaroons. Each box had a pistachio and strawberry. (Um, pretty sure I ate about three other peoples boxes). One of the best parts was during dinner a few of the shy little nieces came to my table to “give me my wedding present”. In unison they sang 2 lines of Lady Gaga’s Paparazzi then ran away. It was just so funny and random.”

Angie & Jordy’s Musical, Heavily Tattooed, Central Park Wedding

Central Park played host to Angie and Jordy’s wedding. Originally from Ottawa, Canada, the couple chose New York to get married in because¬†it was the first place¬†they travelled to together, “It just seemed like¬†the¬†ideal location for us”¬†Angie told me.¬†“We wanted to see more Broadway shows and¬†catch a Yankee’s game. ¬†No to mention many of our guests had never been and who doesn’t want to visit New York?”

Central¬†Park was the perfect location for them because they wanted to have an¬†outdoor wedding, “We did research online and¬†through the Central Park website I found our wedding planner Julie Lindenman (I Do New York)¬†who organized the ceremony for us,”¬†she continued.¬†“We looked at different locations within the park but loved the rustic look of¬†the Cop Cot area.¬†¬†We also¬†liked that it had seating for everyone as our group was small (only 25 people).¬† We had a cellist who was originally supposed to play our 3 songs but we were so grateful he played the entire 45 minutes while we were waiting for my mother to get there.”

Music was really important to the couple. The prosessional¬†music was¬†Child of Mine¬†by Guns n’ Roses,¬†Angie walked down the aisle to All I Want is You by U2 and the couple walked out to Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.¬†

A Spider Ring, A Diamond Skull & Empire State Building Shoes

I think the phrase ‘off the hook’ was invented for engagement sessions like this. Danielle & Ed have such amazing style! First up her ring is a custom made creation by¬†Greenlake Jewelry Works…and it’s a spider! The heart diamond in the ring actually belonged to Danielle’s Grandmother.

Secondly her shoes are in the design of The Empire State Building (wow!) by¬†Geox and thirdly they have a crystal encrusted skull lamp that they found unadorned in a vintage shop. Danielle & Ed added all the sparkles themselves…I¬† love it. In fact I want one!

The couple are getting married in August and are having a Marie Antoinette theme – now that’s a wedding I’m going to want to see

Historic Firehouse Bridals

Do you remember Megan & Kevin’s ‘Oh so adorable’ engagement session that I posted last Autumn? Well when their photographer Erica heard that Megan was going to have a short wedding dress she couldn’t wait to do a bridal shoot with her too. They originally planned to have the session in a chocolate factory bur at the last minute decided to an historic firehouse in Springfield, Missouri. Megan put together and styled the shoot herself with a dress from Delia’s¬†(which isn’t going to be her actual wedding day dress – she’s got another short dress to wear too though!) flowers that she put together herself, a cute birdcage veil from PinMeUpCouture on Etsy and Mootsie’s Tootsies shoes from Ebay which only cost her about $20!

Mad Hatter Rock n Roll Bride ~ Candy Floss, Beach Huts & The Great British Seaside

It’s that time of immense excitement for me again, when I finally get to share with you a ‘lil project I’ve been busying myself with behind the scenes. Unbelievably this shoot has been in the pipeline for over a year but it’s only now that I’ve had the time to get it all organised properly!

The Photographer
I first met Eliza Claire just over a year ago at the very first ‘Rock n Roll Bride meet’. We met in a teeny cocktail bar in central London. We drank cosmopolitans and mojitos and talked way into the night about business, photography and changing the face of the UK wedding industry…and look how far we’ve come in only a year! At this first meeting we talked about doing a photo shoot together and would you believe it’s actually taken this long to get it together. However, as always, the wait was so worth it as within the past 12 months we’ve got to know so many more amazing people in the industry, a few of which we asked along to join in the fun.
