Wild at Heart: An Elopement on Safari in the Masai Mara

I can’t breathe. This may just be one of my favourite weddings we’ve EVER FEATURED. Yes, in all my 13 years of writing about weddings I’m not sure a wedding has stolen my heart quite like this one.

Aaliyah and Gabriel had exactly the wedding they wanted – on safari in the Masai Mara over the course of a four day trip. Aaliyah is from Burundi, Gabriel is Tunisian and they both grew up in France but met, fell in love and now live in London together. They wanted to have a wedding that focused on them and the incredible world around them, no fuss, guests or details. So, they decided to elope.

Low Key Dublin Ceremony with the Bride in a Hand-Painted Tulle Skirt & Neon Pink Feather Jacket!

Another day, another mega gorgeous real wedding to swoon over. Oh, yes, we’re just too good to you. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say I KNOW you’re going to love this one. There’s no other option really because THOSE OUTFITS ARE EVERYTHING.

Katie, who wore a skirt hand-painted tulle by artist Tiff Manuell perfectly paired with a goddamn neon pink feather jacket, married Darran in May in Dublin. They started the day with their photos, then a pint of Guinness followed by a walk through the city to their ceremony venue. “We just wanted to take a trip around Dublin, have a pint or two and get some cool pictures in front of some colourful artwork!” Katie said.

Autumnal Park Elopement with a Short, Sparkly Dress

It’s that perfect time of year where the temperatures have dropped slightly but it’s not yet baltic outside, the colours of the trees are at their most beautiful and Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are a thing again (OK spoiler alert I actually think they’re gross but many people don’t agree with me!) But MOST OF ALL, I love the weddings that happen in Autumn. Especially when they’re low key and full of all the feels.

Following the footsteps of many of their family members who also chose to elope when they married, Elena and Patrick eloped in Melbourne earlier this year. “Elopements seem to be a bit of a trend in both of our families”, she explained, “My parents and brother eloped as did Patrick’s brother! So we thought it would be a bit of a fun tradition to do the same!”

Relaxed & Spontaneous New York Elopement

Alys and Jason flew to New York for from the UK for their February wedding and were married at New York City Hall the day before Jason’s 30th birthday (he joked he got a wife for his birthday!) After the low key ceremony with just them and their photographer, they hopped in a cab to take photos around Brooklyn, grabbed some pizza and finished their day off with an amazing dinner at Bar Primi, an Italian Restaurant in the East Village.

“Our wedding was perfect for us as a couple”. Alys began, “relaxed yet spontaneous and fun. It was everything we wanted. I would not say we had a theme but I don’t think you need a theme when you are getting married in New York!”

Tiny Vintage Inspired Elopement in Sweden

Moa and Ludvig always knew they wanted to elope, they also wanted the day to feel casual. The groom was originally going to just wear jeans (but decided at the last minute to dress up just a little bit!) and the bride bought her black dress from My Malina but accessorised it with shoes and jewellery she already owned.

She also made the cake, the groom and his mother arranged the flowers and they self-catered the vegan meal. All in they spent just £1500. They were married at Malmö City Hall in Sweden followed by a small dinner for their closest family members in the groom’s mother’s garden.

Disney Inspired Las Vegas Elopement Planned in a Week!

Betty and Luke booked a holiday to California and Vegas, got engaged at Disneyland and then decided to elope in Vegas a week later!! As it was an elopement, they kept things pretty simple, while adding a few little Disney touches to make it feel personal. Luke’s parents were on the trip with them so they surprised them by telling them they were getting married the morning of!

“Our inspiration was probably Rock n Roll Bride!” Betty began. “I’d seen previous elopements and loved the dazzle of Vegas and the way these weddings seemed to celebrate the couple instead of hyped up tradition. We were inspired by these couples that tailor the day in their own creative way reflecting who they are.”
