Punk Rock Princess: The Ultimate Emo-Inspired Wedding

In doing their initial research, Sarah and Brian quickly started to realise that for the price of a traditional package wedding at a hotel or resort, they could instead piece it together using the people, places and things they already loved. “Using our everyday favourite things as inspiration for our day made decisions easier and the wedding itself feel authentic and real.” said Sarah.

They married in a traditional Catholic ceremony, and although the church wedding completed contradicted their style, with Catholic families, they felt they felt the serious nature and ritual behind a religious ceremony was important to keep. “You have very little creative control over Catholic ceremonies,” said Sarah. “Although obviously we knew this ahead of time, it meant that the ceremony wasn’t as emotional as I thought it would be, and at times felt impersonal.”

Rock of Ages-Inspired 1980s Glam Rock Concert Wedding

Being a florist who has worked in the wedding industry for twenty years, Sarah Jo knew she wanted to do something completely different when she married her long term partner (they’d been together 15 years!) Dan. Both performers at heart who’s friendship began in a band almost two decades ago, they decided that the only thing for it was to have a rock concert wedding! But not just a concert themed wedding, to put on an ACTUAL ROCK CONCERT and get married up on stage in between performances.

“After 15 years we decided to tie the knot and both agreed our wedding would need to be something really spectacular, unexpected and a reflection of us”, began the bride. “We wanted our guests to have a real Rock n Roll concert experience with lots of surprises. We did it AND managed to keep the details a secret for our 400 guests – who all came dressed up (or down), in their best 80s attire!”

Rock Concert Wedding in Pittsburgh

Nicole and Steve were married at Stage AE, a concert venue in downtown Pittsburgh. Getting married at a venue as iconic as this obviously had a huge influence on the theme of the wedding! “Music has always been a big part of our relationship”, said the bride.

“We wanted our family and friends to share in that important aspect of our life together, which is why we chose Stage AE. We faced many objections and difficulties with such an unconventional wedding venue, but we knew what we wanted and were determined to make it happen.”

Rock Concert Dive Bar Wedding: Tom & Lindsey

What could be more Rock n Roll than a concert wedding at a dive bar? Nothing! And that’s why I’m thrilled to be sharing Tom & Lindsey’s wedding at The Shakedown in Bellingham, Washington with you today.

“Our inspiration for our wedding was our relationship itself”, began the bride. “We have always had a ton of friends, gone to shows together, and eaten amazing, bad-for-you food. I’d say probably the first thing we decided to do differently was have our wedding at a bar. We met in college, on what’s known as Thirsty Thursday in the university world which is why we chose to get married at a bar on a Thursday.  When we approached The Shakedown, I think they were surprised that we wanted to have our wedding there, but they were very cool and very excited to make it happen.”

“Next, rather than send out a formal invitation, I built an entire website (QR code included) and then designed show posters in Photoshop that would become our wedding invitations. I attached the QR code at the bottom for our tech-savvy friends and then designed concert tickets to go with the flyers that would include details about the ceremony itself, which took place two and a half hours before the Big Party. To keep with the theme, I made backstage passes and event wristbands as well.”

“Other things that we thought were pretty different is that my husband is a very popular, charismatic guy, so he played MC for most of our wedding and party himself, getting the crowd laughing and joking around. He also performed that night. His band played a 45-minute set during the latter half of the Big Party.”

Rock n Roll Concert Wedding: Jenifer & Chris

Happy Monday y’all! Now I know it’s unconventional, but Monday is totally my favourite day of the week. I’m always up early and excited about what the the week might hold. It’s kind of like a fresh start every seven days don’t you think? Oh what a nerd I am!

Well, even if you’re not quite as excited about it being Monday as I am, the Rock n Roll stylings of Jenifer & Chris’ epic concert wedding are sure to put a big old cheesy grin on your face – it sure did mine!

“Our wedding was held at Casselman’s Bar and Venue in Denver”, Jenifer began. “I can not say enough about this venue and the amazing owners who really took care of us. Not only did they charge us an incredible rate for the venue rental for BOTH the afternoon wedding reception event and the evening concert, but they gave us drink tickets for the reception as well as things like tables, chairs, lighting, sound, staff and the use of their kitchen. They did not jack up the price simply because the word ‘wedding’ was involved, and the owners, Adam and Andrew, are professional, friendly and really on top of their game. They helped us with everything from planning the production schedule to offering suggestions to help with throwing the concert (which we had no prior experience doing) and we will never stop being grateful to them for everything they did to make our crazy, fabulous day run as smoothly as possible.”
