Artistic, Laidback, Backyard Style Wedding with Tacos and Succulents

Jocelyn and Nathan met when Nathan was playing in a band and Jocelyn happened to be at one of their shows. After locking eyes before Nathan headed on stage, Jocelyn did what any good millennial would do – found him on Facebook to say hey… and the rest, as they say is, history!

When it came to planning their wedding day, they were heavily inspired by the look and feel of the events that their venue, Workshop, Pittsburgh, were already holding, so used that as a starting off point. With it’s art-covered walls and whiskey lounge basement it had all the makings of a unique venue, so aside from dressing the hell out of it with flowers, they let the space do the talking!

Mexican Inspired London Working Men’s Club Wedding

With a gorgeous (but demanding) 15 month old daughter together, Jen and Pip needed their wedding to be relaxed, informal, and to fit in with their busy lives. With a £12,000 budget, they eschewed any traditions that didn’t suit them, and planned a day that was informal and fun for everyone.

They tied the knot at Lambeth Town Hall in Brixton with close family and friends present, after travelling to the ceremony together in a black London cab. “To be honest, it was quite rough and ready,” laughed Jen, “which we didn’t really mind but it was quite funny! During the ceremony, the registrar rattled through the her script at such lightning speed, she didn’t pause for breath so our friend could read the poem he’d spent the a whole month preparing!”

The Big Lebowski Inspired Wedding Powered By Nature… and Tacos!

Kelly and Buck were married in September in an outdoor ceremony at Riveredge Nature Centre in Wisconsin, with a barn reception at the same venue.

Kelly, a print maker and paper artist extraordinaire, met Buck through her best friend Molly. They soon discovered a shared love for drawing, and Kelly, who works as an Admissions Counsellor for a Milwaukee art college, encouraged Buck to pursue his passion for drawing professionally. Buck picked up an apprenticeship and now works as a tattoo artist.

Heavily inspired by creativity and nature for their decor choices on the day, Kelly, together with best friend Molly created all the paper florals by hand; the reception decor, the bouquets and the flower crowns from crepe paper. Place names and table numbers were displayed with handwritten delicate paper leaves. The couple also included deer in their decor, with antlers on the top table and adorable an golden deer cake topper too.

Tacos & Tattoos: A Quickie Yet Fabulous Las Vegas Elopement

Heather and Riley are met in Afghanistan in 2013 when they were both deployed to Kandahar from their respective countries (Riley from Australia and Heather from the US). At the time of their wedding Riley was still deployed in Iraq and flew out to Vegas for their ceremony! He then had to return to Iraq immediately after their honeymoon, just two weeks later. They wanted their wedding to be a bit of old Hollywood glam mixed with some of their favourite things including tacos, Harley Quinn, the Joker, Batman and tattoos!

“The inspiration for our wedding was everything that we love,” explained Heather. “We are foodies and my favourite food is tacos, hence our reception at the two story Taco Bell Cantina/Club on the strip! We had accessories with touches of characters we love such as Harley Quinn, the Joker and Batman. We got matching tattoos to commemorate our special day and I carried a paper flower bouquet which was custom created to tell our love story. Each flower was made of paper that has some significance; my favourite bible verse, lyrics from the song I walked down the aisle too, our country’s flags, Batman and Joker comic book, Wonder Woman comic book, Star Wars characters, a ‘junk food’ flower (that had tacos, pizza, burgers, and fries on it), and flowers made of maps of important locations to us. My bouquet is my most favourite accessory from the whole day!”
