Cheyanne and Tanner had a summer wedding in Oregon. They wanted to DIY everything and so had a long engagement to give them enough time to do everything, save money and research all the options.

“Our wedding was a culmination of everything we love”, said the bride. “Music, fashion, classic cars, dancing, tattoos, comfort food and big parties… We threw in everything! I would say our theme was a 1950s vintage rockabilly and DIY extravaganza! Everyone said this was the most DIY’ed wedding they had ever seen, as well as the only rockabilly wedding they had ever experienced.”

Rockabilly Wedding with Hot Rods and Rock n Roll!

Rockabilly Wedding with Hot Rods and Rock n Roll! (44)

Sioux and Tommy wanted their wedding to reflect their combined attitudes and what their life is all about. Sioux is a pin up girl and Tommy loves hot rods and Rock n Roll. Their relationship is basically straight out of Pulp Fiction! Not surprisingly their wedding theme was a rockabilly, hot rod, Rock n Roll all out fun fest complete with cars, a candy table and a Harley Davidson set up next to the card table!

“Our ceremony was short but filled with references to Game of Thrones, fishing (Tommy is a fisherman!) and making sure I knew I had to obey (!)” explained Sioux. “At the beginning our 103lb Doberman Gunnar walked down the aisle with a sign that said, ‘Daddy here comes your girl’. Our officiant was a good friend of ours and really went the extra mile when writing up how to perform our ceremony. He even shot fireballs from his cuffs at our introduction! We aren’t religious so our officiant’s special touches really meant the world to us! The funny thing is we were BOTH late to our own wedding. We were both stressing over being tardy to the other but in the end neither of us realised the other was late!”

Pin Up Punk Wedding

pin up punk wedding (29)

Pin up and punk might not be two styles that you’d automatically think worked together, but Katie and Tony’s wedding certainly disputes that! They were married in Gyro Park in Alberta.

“I am a fan of all things retro and Tony is a metal-head”, the bride explained. “So we wanted to merge our two styles together so that the wedding expressed both of us. We put lots of personal touches into the day. I chose a red dress because white didn’t feel like ‘me’.”

“Our receiving line song while entering the reception hall was Vermillion by Slipknot, one of Tony’s favourite bands. Our first dance song was Slipknot’s Vermillion II and our wedding party dance song was a song from my favourite female artist, Stevie Nicks, Cheaper than Free which is the same song I walked down the aisle to.”

The couple’s budget was $6000 and they made almost everything themselves. Most of the décor was made from items from dollar stores! “There wasn’t a whole lot of money spent on things like flowers and linens and rentals. The table cloths and things for the centrepieces were all from the dollar store and I think they turned out beautifully.”

Pin Up Wedding in Croatia: Mia & Dražen

Pin-up inspired wedding in Zagreb Croatia_Barbara Tursan Misic photography_0056

Mia and Dražen were married in Croatia, a country that is used to very traditional weddings. They didn’t want anything traditional for their wedding and so picked a fun red pin up theme.

“In Croatia, weddings usually have a lot of guests and many traditions”, said the bride. “However, we are not fans of the norm, conventions and traditions, so we opted to have a small and intimate wedding with only close friends and family.”

“Also, brides in Croatia usually have traditional wedding dresses – ball gowns or lace siren dresses and they are almost always completely white. The pin-up scene is not really big here but I love the style so the wedding theme was set in a heartbeat. All details of the wedding were red and white, with black elements and a lot of polka dots. We wanted our day to be relaxed and full of laughter and tears of joy.”

Retro & Pin Up Inspired Beach Wedding in Mexico: KO & Bre

Vintage Tattooed Fairytale Tulum Beach Wedding wedding_EvangelineLane-55

They were married on the beach at El Pez Tulum, a boutique ocean-front hotel, in Mexico. KO and Bre wanted their wedding to be a beachy pin up fairytale wedding and I think they achieved that wonderfully! The bride wore a vintage dress from the 1950s which she customised and had the skirt redesigned by Georgannette Chatterley. Her birdcage veil was also homemade.

“KO and I met 7 years ago at a hardcore music show”, she wrote. “I caught his eye from across the room while headbanging with a cast up to my knee and crutches. I had recently broken my ankle while jumping on a bed! A mutual friend then introduced us after the show and we chatted the night away. Bre is my nickname and when I was leaving KO (also a nickname) asked what my real name was. I told him that if he wanted to find out he would have to call me. KO called the next day and we were inseparable from then on. KO finally proposed at our house one night completely surprising me. It was sweet and simple like I had always imagined it.”
