Autumnal Vintage Fairground Wedding

Inspired by their incredible venue, Preston Court in Kent which comes complete with a vintage carousel, Sammy and Thomas planned their October wedding with fairground and circus vibes. Their attention to detail was second to none, especially when it came to the design of everything. The centrepieces, the cake, even the homemade favour boxes all perfectly complemented their theme.

The ceremony was held in front of Preston Court’s Dutch Music Organ in their main barn. Their rings were brought to them by a barn owl called Ollie which was a complete surprise for all their guests.

Relaxed Scottish Roulotte Elopement with an Owl Ring Bearer

Belinda and Peter swapped California for Scotland for their wedding, having a highlands elopement at the beautiful Roulotte Retreat. With just the two of them, their officiant, and a snowy owl, it was a breathtakingly romantic and personal celebration of their love. They loved planning their elopement so much that when they returned back to California they opened their own venue, Hestia, a retreat centre and event space!

In February 2018, they had an astrologer check on lucky dates and times for their wedding, who only came back with one date and time: May 10, 2018, at 7.10pm. They suddenly had less than three months to plan their elopement from overseas!

They decided on Roulotte Retreat, a chic retreat nestled in the rolling countryside Scottish Borders, with a unique collection of hand-carved French ‘roulottes’ – intricately decorated gypsy caravans. It was the perfect setting for Belinda and Peter. “We wanted to elope because we tend to be people who take on the role of caring for others and our families and friends. We wanted our wedding day to be just about us, with no worries in the world. We were looking to elope in an English-speaking European country and fell in love with the gypsy caravans at Roulotte Retreat. They had everything we imagined and gave us great recommendations for our elopement ceremony.”

Their ceremony spot was decided just an hour before it took place, with the falconer having to decide where was best. Why a falconer, you may ask? Well, Belinda and Peter had a snowy owl deliver their rings as they love Harry Potter!

Woodland Luxe Wedding in October

Emma and Ajay’s October wedding had a ‘Woodland Luxe’ theme. They wanted the day to feel cosy and for nature to be everywhere. They used Autumnal accents such as acorns, ferns and moss rather than flowers, and had stag and horns motifs used throughout.

“We were inspired by our mutual love of nature (particularly majestic countryside creatures such as owls and stags)”, said the bride, “but also high-end details and timeless beauty with a modern twist.”

“We love food and we know our friends and family do too so this was a big consideration for us. We also knew there would be a lot of people meeting for the first time, so to ensure the ice was fully broken when they all sat down to eat, everyone had to muck in with the platters which were served to the tables. We wanted the feeling of a big Sunday lunch you‚Äôd have with family and it worked a treat, everyone said they‚Äôd never eaten this way at a wedding before but loved the idea.”

An Internet Meme Wedding Theme: Daryl & Emily

303HelenRussellPhotoEmily&Daryl

Daryl & Emily wanted their¬†wedding to feature various¬†elements that¬†but didn’t¬†necessary¬†go together but that they both loved. From steampunk to¬†Lego¬†and Lord of the Rings, this September wedding was a true reflection of them as a couple. “Our theme was ‘Nerdtacula'”, Emily laughed. “We tried to¬†incorporate¬†different internet memes¬†wherever¬†possible!”

“We are both pretty unique people and we tried to bring in a little bit of ourselves in everything that we did”, she continued.¬†“The wedding cake¬†Lego¬†base was inspired by Daryl’s love of¬†Lego¬†although we had¬†originally¬†toyed with the idea of zombie¬†apocalypse¬†on the¬†Tyne¬†bridge during the Great North Run. The music we chose for the service was all from our favourite video games and Daryl’s hat reflected his interest in steampunk.”

A Scottish Rock n Roll Wedding with Ring-Delivering Owls: Anna & Max

Who would have thought a smiling owl would be so popular!? Well I should have expected it really… you lot may love weddings but you love love love cute fluffy things! I wanted to sneak peek a shot of Anna & Max’s wedding on my facebook page so I chose this cutie and low and behold, it’s up there with some of the most ‘liked’ photos ever! You can see why right? CUTE.

The wedding was held in Dundas Castle, Edinburgh, and¬†although¬†clearly¬†a Rock n Roll worthy wedding, the couple chose to have a few¬†traditional Scottish¬†touches like the kilts, the castle and the bird of prey! The couple hail from California but loved the Scottish influence so much they decided to¬†travel¬†there for the wedding. “I¬†took a lot of inspiration from Rock n Roll Bride”, wrote Anna, “it was the only website that didn’t make me what to tear my hair out!”
