An Old Fashioned Love Affair

Kat

September 17, 2009

Anna & Ryan's wedding was marvelously simple, rustic, old-fashioned romantic affair. Think prairie flowers, wheat, fabric streamers, ball jars and parasols. The round barn that was host to the event belongs to Anna's family. Anna's dress was made by her Mum and was closely based on a design by an independent Italian designer named Mirit Weinstock who sends her clothes out to girls around the world to wear in self portraits to promote her clothing (check out the 'birthday' video on her homepage - it's fab). Her hairpiece was by the always fabulous Which Goose. After the ceremony (in which both Anna & Ryan only had one attendant each) there was a picnic lunch and after the picnic, everyone went to the couple's studio (they are also both photographers) to mingle. The reception was in a place called the Forum... an old theatre converted into a bar/event hall which was right across the street from their apartment/studio. Photographer Mysi described the reception vibe as being very much like a movie: amazing people... loud, happy and not a bit of drama. there was a moment during the last song of the night where about 30 of us danced while joined together in an enormous group hug (hard to breathe in there) and screamed the song ... when i realized i should be taking a photo of the spectacle, but i was too happy to watch from the outside. the best part of that was it wasn't forced or annoying or drunken or awkward. it was just joyous. Thanks so much to Mysi for all her hard work on this feature - she has also given me a sneak peek of her own wedding (they just got back from their honeymoon themselves) and it is beyond adorable so I hope I will be able to share those too soon! Kate & Jeff got married in Hawaii, but living in San Francisco, they wanted to do a fun post wedding shoot wearing their wedding outfitsin muir woods as well as some shots in their favourite areas of the city. The groom wore a suit by H&M and the bride looks awesome in her dress from Milly Bridal and her fascinator from Twigs & Honey. They got their cake topper from Etsy seller Goosegrease (I had to include an image - so cute!) and their ring bowl from Paloma's Nest(I never tire of seeing these.) I hope you enjoy these, I loooove them. A huge thanks to Joanne & Johnathan for sending... Credit: Encarnacion Photography

September 13, 2009

If you want to see some of the most beautiful floral details and centrepieces ever plus some pretty damn stunning beach portraits then you've certainly come to the right place! Meghann & Edwin planned their Steampunk-Victorian-Beach-on a budget wedding with help from all their friends and family - DIY was the name of the game! I am totally in love with all their decor ideas and the beautiful floral details - this wedding proves that you can make anything look bloody amazing if you have the time and patience to do it yourself. They spent only about $200 on flowers and decor and went to The LA Flower Market the day before to get the blooms. Meghann explained:

Wai-Ching Bride

Evan & Angela's wedding was at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria, BC. They had an intimate event with just 20 or 30 guests within their own bridal penthouse suite with an antique/bird theme. They set up a typewriter to be used a vintage style guest book, birdcages around the room and old-time candy for goodie-bag favours. They are both photographers as well so there were antique cameras scattered about as well as lots of shots taken with Evan's old Polaroid Land Camera. Angela's veil was handmade by an artist in Portland, OR and her dress was designed by local Seattle designer Chrissy Wai-Ching. It's a pretty damn amazing dress huh?

Sometimes a wedding comes along that is so damn fabulous that it's worth the wait for. I was sent an image of the bride trying on her stunning Elizabeth Dye dress by a reader, boy must have been about 6 months ago, and since then I have made it my mission to find more about the wedding, the dress, the girl, the guy and the stunning photography - it's all a bit too delightful for words huh?I am so excited to finally announce that I have the results right here! Anything Goes

Kim & Christian's wedding certainly didn't fit any kind of traditional mould. The bride wore two stunning dresses, the red one for the ceremony and the gorgeous green 'princess dress' for the reception, where they danced and hula hooped on the beach into the wee hours of the morning. Kim's bridesmaids wore dresses that she'd made especially for them and stunning custom hairpieces from Etsy. The handmade invitations and wooden flower bouquet also really added to the uniqueness of this wedding. You're going to love these. Thank you so much to Kristen of LanierStar Photography for sending them my way! Credit: LanierStar Photography

Vintage Rural

Part three of Caroline Ghetes' modern vintage bridal sessions landed on my online lap this afternoon and it's a corker. This final installment has much more of a country feel - the shed, the field, the horses, the cowboy boots, the rustic, casual florals (made by Caroline herself!) - but that doesn't stop me from having a hell lotta love for them. The model's dress was supplied by etsy seller Lorimarsha (it's the same dress as used in the 'aviation' shoot) and her pink hairpiece was by Chamberry Cherry, who can also be found onEtsy. Clicky here for part one and two... Thanks to Caroline for sharing her newest work with us.

An Urban Fairytale

July 30, 2009

Hurrah! Part two of Caroline Ghetes' amazing vintage inspired bridal sessions is live! This second installment has a much more modern twist to it as Caroline wanted to show how vintage fashion can work in super modern, urban suroundings. She scoured Etsy for the majority of the gorgeous pieces to go in this shoot. The ever so popular 50's style tea dress was from ghmarketplace, the sparkly tulle veil was handmade with vintage material from the 1940's by Liaison, the pink and the peacock hairpieces were by Chamberry Cherry and finally the dramatic bouquet was actually made by Caroline herself. (Just in case you missed it, Part one is here) Thanks again to Caroline for sharing these with us. I am waiting with baited breath for the third and final installment!

Layered Grey Tulle

Kat

July 29, 2009

Right my lovelies, prepare to be wowed. I discovered Amanda & Jeffery's wedding when browsing Etsy for a tutu no less. I found seller Monique Martinez of Ouma Clothing who made Amanda's GORGEOUS layered grey, tulle dress and immediately knew I had to try and feature this wedding! The Bridesmaids were treated to similar dresses (but each with their own individual twist) from Ultra Suite and Jeffery and his boys wore suits from Req Square in Queens Plaza Brisbane. The Austrailian couple had their ceremony at the ultra modern Brisbane Powerhouse New Farm and choose local buskers (who were only 16!) to perform the music. Their reception took place at River Room Southbank. Jeffery's family come from Thailand, so in order to incorporate this into their big day, the couple infused their wedding with a beautiful Asian colour scheme. The wedding day was rounded off by a 80's disco that went on late into the night. Thanks so much to Amanda & Jeffery for taking the time to share their gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous day with us! Family, Friends and Fabulous Fashion!

Kat

July 10, 2009

I have been dying to get the wedding up all day, and I am so excited that it is all now ready to go. Photographer Monika Broz of Project Mad Love sent me these gorgeous images alongside a fantastic overview of their day by the couple, Cori & Rollie. So without further ado... We wanted to have a relaxed but stylish outdoor wedding with a casual feel in the Lambertville/New Hope area close to where are families are from but not too far from NYC where a lot of our friends are. I always pictured the sun shining with fluffy clouds and blue skies and kids running around and everyone just kicking back and enjoying the good food and good company. We chose the Mills for it's beautiful location on the Delaware River and the charm and history of the buildings.

Las Vagas Showdown

Have you been eagerly sitting by your computer waiting for the next installment of Teneisha & Chris' crazy-gorgeous wedding extravaganza? I certainly have..every 5 minutes I've been checking my email to see if the rest of the photographs have been sent to me...sad? yes, yes I am. Now if you thought their engagement shoot was to die for then you ain't seen nothing yet! I'm actually going to stop gabbing on about it and hand straight over to the couple who have described their wedding and their idea of what makes a rock n roll wedding absolutely perfectly... The objective for our wedding, besides getting married, was about two things. The first was a goal that every single person have a completely kick ass time, including ourselves, and the second being that we would do things our way, no questions asked. We solved the "having fun" issue pretty easily by getting married on a Saturday evening, in Las Vegas; with a premium open bar and an excellent ipod play list. We served sushi and had chocolate covered strawberries instead of cake at our reception and had an open invitation after-party with a bathtub full of beer and debauchery that lasted until 5am. We also encouraged people to get creative with the dress code, which produced a very colorful crowd. I think that our Bride and Groom outfits helped to set the right mood as well. I wore a vintage inspired, Sherri Hill polka dotted blue/gold/silver dress with all bright red accessories that I either made myself or bought from independent artists on etsy.com. I had the dress shortened from ballroom to tea length, which everyone tried to talk me out of and I'm so glad I didn't listen! The groom wore crazy blue pants, suspenders, a fedora and an awesome bow tie that matched my dress perfectly. You love this couple right? Yeah me too. Again, I can't thank Teneisha & Chris' and their wonderful photographer Holly Jones enough for sharing this amazing wedding with me!

For Those About To Rock…

Kat

June 29, 2009

With a rock star Groom like Jeremy would you expect anything less than a wedding like this? The couple choose an awesome venue and had live music a go go! They walked down the aisle to Led Zeppelin and had friends playing an acoustic set during their ‘cocktail lounge’. The speeches sound like they were somewhat epic, with Alison’s brother even getting everyone shout “For those about to rock, we salute you" at the end of his toast! Jeremy’s parents rapped during their speech and Alison’s dad sang for his. For favours the couple made a ‘Rock Star Survival Kit’ including a custom guitar pick, a shot glass and bubble gum. The couple also got their wedding rings engraved with the words ‘you rock’ on his, and ‘you rule’ on hers (made by The Devil’s Workshop)…definitely not the usual soppy stuff! Alison’s dress was by Alfred Angelo, her hair piece by Etsy seller, GG Designs and her gorgeous bouquet & Jeremy’s boutonniere were made by Princess Lasertron.

Princeton Wedding

Kat

June 27, 2009

Sara & Matthew have sent me their wedding along with 150 of their favourite images from the day – and nope you didn’t read that wrong! While this may be slightly over the top I have to say it is indeed a rather fabulous wedding The couple had their ceremony at an old brick house under a huge tree with a few leaves missing where they hung bird cages to tie in their bird theme. They had their portraits at Princeton University and then headed to their reception at a Brewery and instead of the usual champagne reception, the couple served samples of local beer! Sara’s dress was Selena by Maggie Sottero and her Bridesmaids were by Niteline. The Bride embarked on a DIY frenzy making the ring bearer pillows, the table numbers, the aisle decor along with the tree and the flower centrepieces themselves – phew!
