Thrifty Gorgeous

Kat

July 4, 2009

Faith & Joe didn't have much time to plan their wedding, especially as they live in Portland but chose to have the event in California as lots of their friends and family lived here. They also decided to do the whole thing in a super thrifty way. This however, led them to have a truly unique, personal DIY wedding. Friends and family also helped them out wherever they could with her Mum making the cake, the dried flowers for the bouquets, boutonnieres and decorations being donated and Faith getting her gorgeous dress from a thrift store, adding the tulle and brown sash herself and even making her own veil. This has got to be one of the sweetest and most stylish DIY weddings I've ever had the pleasure of sharing with you all. Thanks to photographer Shannon Moore for sharing!

The Power Of Love

Kat

July 3, 2009

When this video landed in my inbox I knew from the first second of watching it that I'd feature it. Why? The Power Of Love baby! The hubby as I walked back up the aisle to this tune on our wedding day so not only did it bring all those lovely weddingyfeelings back for me, but it's just a damn good song. We chose it for our own wedding as my favourite film of all time is Back to The Future, and I think Courtney & David's wedding has this same feel of retro gorgeousness. Isn't her dress just divine? be sure to watch the video to the end or the dramatic and surprising finale...what luck to catch that on film. Thanks to Katherine of Eagle Eye Photography for sharing.

The Sci-Fi Geek & The Blue Ballerina Shoes

Kat

Yep, this is what I love about the weddings I feature - the awesome uniqueness. Sometimes I find it hard not to share the same picture perfect weddings I see popping up all over blog-land and I even have to give myself a little talking to sometimes and tell myself you love little old Rock n Roll Bride for how different the wedding's that I feature are... right? Now Megan & Bob's wedding's pretty prettiness goes without saying, but I'm loving that the Groom dressed as Doctor Who and the Bride wore her something blue on her toes. Cute and original..and that bloody rocks. Kudos to photographer Ashley for sharing the geek chic love

Sweet As Cherry Pie

Kat

July 3, 2009

This sugary sweet engagement session is full of fun and frolics and I have been dying to get these up all day. Bridget and Dan chose Balboa Island for their shoot as they will be getting married there in September at her grandparents house. The candy bouquet was quickly put together by the photographer, Crissy after she saw them in cute little bunches at a local shop, and the stick on moustaches were bought on Etsy. Thanks to Crissy for sharing these sweet as cherry pie shots with me!

Anyone remember what my favourite ever wedding dress was? Well to refresh your memory (or maybe introduce you for the first time) it was this amazing multi-coloured, multi-layered crazy gorgeous 'Lustful' dress...and I just found out it was custom made by Stephanie James Couture. I also started browsing Stephanie's blog and wowzer has this girl made some crazy-gorgeous dresses or what? Check out this 'Audrey' dress as worn by Tiffany on her wedding day.

Spectacular Glamour

Kat

July 2, 2009

Glamour. Pure unadulterated glamour. From the gorgeous Bride and her girls all in their stunning custom made hairpieces from Heather Mandin to the Groom and his boys arriving at Grouse Mountain (the Peak of Vancouver) in a helicopter, the whole day just screams magnificence! It goes without saying that the locations is spectacular, but it's the ridiculous fun they look like they had that does it for me. Thank you to photographer Gracci for sharing the love with Rock n Roll Bride.

The Language Of Love

Kat

July 2, 2009

Rock n Roll Bride seems to be going all continental today, Ukrainian photographer Nikolay Kucan is up next. Due to the whole language barrier thing I'm afraid I don't know anything about this wedding, but when Nikolay sent me an email with just a link to these images I still felt them worthy of a post. I love her cute short/long dress, the picturesque town location (is it just me or does it almost look like a movie set?!) the fairytale feel of the photographs in the woods and the Bride rocking out with buskers on the street. They look like they had an absolute blast... I only wish I could share more with you.

Las Vagas Showdown

Have you been eagerly sitting by your computer waiting for the next installment of Teneisha & Chris' crazy-gorgeous wedding extravaganza? I certainly have..every 5 minutes I've been checking my email to see if the rest of the photographs have been sent to me...sad? yes, yes I am. Now if you thought their engagement shoot was to die for then you ain't seen nothing yet! I'm actually going to stop gabbing on about it and hand straight over to the couple who have described their wedding and their idea of what makes a rock n roll wedding absolutely perfectly... The objective for our wedding, besides getting married, was about two things. The first was a goal that every single person have a completely kick ass time, including ourselves, and the second being that we would do things our way, no questions asked. We solved the "having fun" issue pretty easily by getting married on a Saturday evening, in Las Vegas; with a premium open bar and an excellent ipod play list. We served sushi and had chocolate covered strawberries instead of cake at our reception and had an open invitation after-party with a bathtub full of beer and debauchery that lasted until 5am. We also encouraged people to get creative with the dress code, which produced a very colorful crowd. I think that our Bride and Groom outfits helped to set the right mood as well. I wore a vintage inspired, Sherri Hill polka dotted blue/gold/silver dress with all bright red accessories that I either made myself or bought from independent artists on etsy.com. I had the dress shortened from ballroom to tea length, which everyone tried to talk me out of and I'm so glad I didn't listen! The groom wore crazy blue pants, suspenders, a fedora and an awesome bow tie that matched my dress perfectly. You love this couple right? Yeah me too. Again, I can't thank Teneisha & Chris' and their wonderful photographer Holly Jones enough for sharing this amazing wedding with me!

One Damn Cool Wedding

Kat

July 1, 2009

That is the only way I can describe this wedding. I am swooning as I type away. Jenny & Johnny are way too stylish and way too cool, their hair ROCKS (I wish I had the balls for a cut like Jenny's - mohawks are hot!) and of course their tattoos look awesome (Jenny is a hairdresser and Johnny is a tattoo artist, can you tell!?) In fact I don't think their is anything I don't like about this wedding - Jenny's vintage dress = gorgeous, the flower girl = cute (dress from etsy) the ring ninja (oh yes, no ring bearers here) = beyond wicked. One of my favourite details had got to be their unique guest 'book', an original piece art work designed by Johnny of the two of them, that each guest signed. The couple tied the knot in Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids. There had never been a wedding held here before as it is usually used for concerts and festivals in the summer and as an ice rink in winter. For more, be sure to check out photographer Jill's blog and the couple's slideshow eeek! Thank you so much to Jill for sending me these, you have made my month!

One Year On…

Good morning sunshine! Blimey it's a scorcher here in England today...I am sweating away as I blog (nice!) Let's get this party started shall we? Julia & Neil got married a year ago but were never happy with their wedding photographs. They enlisted the help of a dream team of photographer Laurie Levenfield, make up artist Stacy McClure and hair stylist Maria O'Rilley to finally give them the photographs they wanted on their one year anniversary...and oh did they! From the train station, to the graffiti wall and the beach to Chinatown - this whole shoot is pure San Fran cool.

Giddy With Bloggy Excitement

Kat

June 30, 2009

OK so I'm pretty much giddy with excitement over sharing this Las Vegas engagement session and wedding sent to me by photographer Holly Jones. Chronologically it makes sense to start with the engagements right? I am c-c-c-crazy about Teneisha's pink dress and yellow shoe combo and of course the Neon Graveyard makes for a completely awesome backdrop. EEEK I can't wait to show you the wedding later - she has the most gorgeous green, polka-dotted dress!

Theological

A scholoristic wedding with a Best Girl rocking it in a top hat is something to be shared. Sharon & Dan definitely went all out to make sure their wedding was truly original, even so far has having the one of a kind 1925 Studebakeras their wedding transport. They also had a theologian conduct their ceremony which was written with the work of Lord Byron, William Morris and Walt Whitma in mind. If you want to know more about this highly intellectual wedding, check out the Groom's Blog! Credit: Studio J

Garden Rose

Kat

June 30, 2009

I have something to say and it may be shocking to some of you...I don't 'get' Martha Stewart...what is they fascination? I'm just as crafty as the next geek but something about her repulses me just a little bit. Maybe it's because the first time I ever heard of her was when she went to jail (I'm in the UK, not Mars by the way) or because whenever I catch her on Wedding TV (yes I am that sad...) I feel inclined to run away. I mean, she's not very rock n roll is she? However, I just saw this wedding on her ridiculously kitch (although it pains me to know it's not even in an ironic way) wedding website, and despite the source this wedding is so uber gorgeous that I have to share the love. John & Lily married in Lily's parent's back garden which had great sentimental value for the couple. Lily's beautiful bouquet was made of bridal garden roses, dahlias, orchids, lily of the valley, jasmine, sweetpeas, and scented geranium, all tied together with a cute blue ribbon. She also ordered some custom Liberty fabric clutches for her Bridesmaids, each designed to fit the individual girl's personality. Clicky here for more images and info, and let me know - am I the only wedding obsessive that doesn't love the Stewart?
