Artists’ Eclectic & Sustainable Ranch Wedding

Amber and Ben’s eclectic and romantic September wedding was held at River School Farm in Reno, Nevada – a self-sustaining co-home community that was one of the most magical venues they were able to find. As a studio and tattoo artist, Amber was keen to put her own stamp on their day and also liked the idea of only having decor that could then be used in their new home, or items that could be used a piece of art.

Each tablescape was a unique collection of found objects from thrift stores, and every decision for the wedding was handpicked by the bride with their guests’ comfort and needs in mind. She made all the backdrops and signage, all stationery and origami, even embroidering a pocket square for Ben’s suit. She made all the flower arrangements by buying wholesale from Fifty Flowers, and made memorial photo frames to hang from her bouquet. She even made her blue veil herself.

Pom Pom Themed DIY Texas Ranch Wedding

Emma and Sam met on Tinder in 2014 just after Emma moved to Texas from Chicago. For their May wedding they really wanted to amp up the Texan vibes so hired a ranch in Austin and set about making it their own with DIY decor extravaganza! The dress code for their guests was western themed and people arrived in their finest bolo ties, cowboy boots and hats! The bride even found her own perfect pair of white cowboy boots to wear on the day too.

“We wanted to have a wedding that was the opposite of classy, buttoned-up and elegant”, Emma said. “Sam and I are both fun-loving goofballs who love dancing in the kitchen and drinking boxed wine. We wanted people to feel that they were in our backyard and could be 100% comfortable and themselves. We chose three things that were important to us at the beginning of wedding planning and they were: Keeping things colourful, having a kick ass open bar and inviting as many people as we could afford.”

Romantic Rustic Jewish Mountain Wedding

Emyli and Matt’s Denver wedding was rustic and romantic, understated and unbelievably pretty. Inspired by the mountains and an open bar, they brought slick style to the gorgeous wildness for their guests, drawing on their love of the outdoors, motocross, and Emyli’s Jewish traditions for a celebration with serious flair.

Emyli walked down the aisle in a beautiful backless halterneck Sarah Seven dress (and gorgeous lilac hair that’s total #hairgoals) to Hans Zimmer’s You’re So Cool. “Looking back, I wish I’d walked slower down the aisle but I was too excited!” she says. “The sun came out just for our ceremony underneath a chuppah on the Strawberry Creek Ranch lawn and it was perfect. Our small dog, Sarah, fell asleep during the ceremony – in spite of us trying to keep it super short and sweet – so I guess it was a little boring!”

Rustic Vintage Outdoor Wedding - Malissa Ahlin Photography-71

James and DevAnn chose a ranch in Southern Colorado as their venue for their summer wedding. They wanted somewhere that would reflect their rustic, vintage theme and one where they could have the whole day in one place.

“We both have a love for vintage and antique items so we decided to thrift for each and every one of our centrepieces and other various décor”, explained the bride. “We also did lots of DIY such as the stationery, the bar, all the signs and the picture display. We also did the favours ourselves which were a CD with our favourite love songs on.”
