Budget Friendly Celestial meets Pinup Themed Wedding with a Symbolic Wedding Dress!

We love it when couple’s include symbolic touches here at Rock n Roll Bride, and Jackie’s reason for choosing her wedding dress when she married Wil is one of our favourites to date – it was the dress she was wearing when she met him three years ago!

“I was doing my first popup shop for my business Pinup Pixie Boutique at a vintage cafe,” the bride explained. “He walked up to me and complimented me on my dress and then walked away. We met again a year later, I had just come out a very toxic relationship and I became a single mom. I met him at my worst and he brought me back to life.”

“On our first date I wore the galaxy dress. We clicked immediately and he became my safe place and my home. He made me believe in love again and he became a father to my two little girls. I describe our love as when the stars meet the moon.”

Friday 13th Galaxy Themed Backyard Wedding

Amy and Emil tore up the wedding rule-book from the very beginning of their wedding planning; they held their big day in the bride’s parents’ backyard and kept it small and intimate. They didn’t have a bridal party, instead wanting all their guests to sit back and enjoy the ceremony together. They even got married on Friday 13th – unlucky for some, but as the couple started dating on a Friday 13th and got engaged the same date a few years later, it only made sense for them to continue their lucky streak!

Instead of a traditional afternoon ceremony followed by wedding breakfast, the couple opted for a sunset ceremony, enjoying dinner with their nearest and dearest beforehand. After their first look, Amy was walked down the aisle by both her parents. Their officiant was Amy’s father, who performed a ceremony that Amy had written entirely from scratch. It included readings by their friend and an exchanging of vows that Amy and Emil had written for each other. Their ‘I Do’s were sealed with a kiss and confetti poppers, and then they headed inside to party!

A Celestial Meets Earthly Styled Shoot

What’s really beautiful and original about this shoot is how it has cleverly positioned lots of opposites – the hard textures of the geometric ornaments versus soft textures like velvet, and the earthly rock crystals and smoke next to the heavens and galaxies depicted in the tablecloths. It’s created a styling synergy and a very interesting dynamic. Alongside these oppositional details, there are also elements that come together, echo and complement each other, creating yet another line of interest. There’s way more here than meets the eye than just pretty styling for its own sake – there are connotations and depth to be experienced and inspired by.

Lydia, a florist from Wyld, came up with the idea for the shoot. She said “All of us wanted to try something we haven’t been able to in the past, something a bit out of the ordinary, a little challenging.”

“We worked with new materials and interesting textures to create a ‘unicorn feast’. The table was full of delicious desserts and rock candy from Sweet Pistachio; the centrepiece, instead of a typical vessel, had flowers suspended inside a geometric gold sculpture, almost dangling in front of you like a trap that’s been set.”
