1980s Prom Theme Wedding Inspiration with Budget Friendly Decor Ideas

So many styled shoots look incredible, but often there’s hundreds of pounds worth of flowers/expensive props/ designer everything involved which makes it unreachable for many couples. So when Maddie from Sonnet Weddings and Events got in touch with this gorgeous ‘80s prom-themed shoot completely with decor that only cost around £30, we jumped at the chance to showcase that you don’t need a lot of money to decorate a wedding.

“I have had an idea percolating for a while to create a huge papier mache arch,” she told us, “which started with trying to brainstorm super cost-effective ways to make large-scale decorations. As the crazy pink arch started to take shape and each individual piece was designed and created, the kitschy ‘pink pink pink’ theme came together and all the other vendors ran with it!”

A South African, Eclectic, Red-Infused Spectacular

I didn’t plan today’s post this way but when I was uploading all the images for the weddings I selected I realised we’re going to be taking a little trip all around the world – starting with this amazing red themed wedding from South Africa!

Philip & Jay’s wedding took place at Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa, overlooking the spectacular South African landscape. The location made for some really unusual and fun places for their portraits. The incredible decor was all organised by Andele of Aleit Wedding Planners who was able to perfectly capture their vision of a eclectic, red-infused spectacular! I am totally nuts about those red glasses hanging from the roof and the ornate chandelier lying on the table – just amazing and so so original!

Abandoned, Overgrown & Fabulous

What do you get when you cross a gorgeous Rock n Roll couple, an abandoned building and the biggest, most overgrown (in a good way!) looking table decorations you’ve ever seen? This, that’s what and I just know you’re gonna love these!

Hello my dears and welcome to the first Thursday Treats of the new decade! Just as big, just as inspiring and just as fit to bursting with links and fun a-plenty. Let’s crack on shall we?

♥ 2010 may only be in it’s infancy, but it has so far been a very exciting year for Rock n Roll Bride! Not only was I featured in Cosmopolitan Bride, was included in Bride Tide’s prestigious ‘100 Wedding Blogs (and Twitters) to Follow in 2010’ awards, (#1 under the ‘Offbeat’ section – hell yeah!) but I was lucky enough to be asked to model for the infamous Julia Boggio and her Vintage Boudoir series. I braved the snow yesterday and headed up to her Wimbledon studios for a day of fabulous retro hair & make up, styling to die for and to pose and pout my little ass off. I can not wait to share all the details and the photographs, but for now, why not check out my sneak peak shots that I took of (some!) of my outfits with my new favourite toy.
