A Midsummer Night’s Dream meets 1920’s Vintage Themed Wedding

Jamiee and Logan met on Tinder, but their story is a little bit cuter than that. After a week of chatting, they went on their first date, where they found they had loads in common, including a love of travelling, and both felt like they’d known the other for ages! However, Jamiee was due to move to London for two years. After just two months of dating Logan bit the bullet and asked to go with her, and she immediately said yes! “That’s how our adventure began,” the bride told us. “After living in London for nearly 2 years we travelled across Europe on our way back home to New Zealand, and on the trip, Logan proposed on the Greek Island, Naxos. Travel meant even more to the two of us after that!”

When it came to planning their February 2020 nuptials, the couple knew they wanted a laid-back, outdoor wedding in the middle of summer with lots of greenery, foliage and being amongst the trees. “We wanted something quite whimsical,” Jamiee continued, “but with a nod to the 1920’s, seeing as we got married in 2020!” They combined star lanterns in with the foliage and hundreds of fairy lights, and a big half-moon photo booth tied the two themes together. The bridesmaid dresses tied into this two, with star embroidery, and they paired them with celestial accessories. “I wanted to feel like a vintage, Hollywood starlet, seeming I love to dress in vintage/pinup style.”

Budget-Friendly Midsummer Night’s Dream Elopement

Gemma and Brian chose the intimate setting of Minute Man National Park in Concord, MA for their September elopement. They invited just 12 guests to witness the ceremony and have a meal with them afterwards. The easy-going bride rented her dress and did her own hair and make up on the day.

“Our wedding was inspired by A Midsummer Night’s Dream“, said the bride. “We wanted a budget-friendly elopement that would be a day we’d never forget.”

Their ceremony was planned in less than a month and they only spent $1000. “The week before we asked the park if we could elope there and they said no but Brian shmoozed with them and they eventually came around!” she laughed. “We showed up with the archway for the florist to decorate and the park ranger told us no props at the last second. There was a brief moment of anxiety, but again Brian talked his way through getting them to allow us to keep it there!”

Rustic Romanian-English Barn Wedding (with A Parrot Ringbearer!)

Andreea and Steve’s rustic luxe tipi wedding was a perfect blend of Romanian and English cultures with a Midsummer Night’s Dream feel. Read on to see the best, most ethereal bridal hair you’ve ever seen, and a parrot ringbearer. Yep, you read that right!

It’s easy to see the Midsummer Night’s Dream influence on this wedding. Andreea’s hair is incredible on it’s own – long and flowy and such a GORGE shade of red – but woven with flowers it’s basically the fairy princess hair of dreams. Andreea’s stunning wedding dress was from Natalia Vasiliev, the perfect middle ground between a fuller skirt and being able to actually move on your wedding day – just look at the movement in that skirt!  She finished her look with a necklace and earrings that belonged to Steve’s late mother, and Jeffrey Campbell ‘Lolita’ shoes. Her bridesmaids also wore flowers in their hair to match their trailing bouquets,  and cornflower blue dresses to tie in.

Their hand-fasting ceremony was held outside in front of a wooden frame covered with stunning blue and lilac flowers by The Luxe Design Co. After an emotional first look, Andreea’s dad walked her down the aisle in his full ceremonial outfit. They were also accompanied by by Andreea and Steve’s pet parrot, Jay, who came down the aisle on Andreea’s shoulder!

Fantasy Woodland Vegan Wedding with a Lord Of The Rings Theme

When a wedding is described as “Midsummer Night’s Dream meets Lord of The Rings”, you know it’s going to be pretty unique, and Natalia and Steven’s day certainly lives up to this promise. They even dared guests to outdo the bride and groom within the realm of the ‘fancy dress’ theme they’d set!

Their “playful and ethereal fantasy forest” wedding theme was based on everything that Natalia and Steven enjoy together – like the fancy dress theme, which is crucial to how they got together. “We had mutual friends but we really bonded after meeting for Halloween and admiring each other’s fancy dress outfits”, the bride explained. “I was a voodoo witch doctor and he was a cross-dressing banana (I’ll leave that one to your imagination!) I admired his dedication to fancy dress and we started to discover how much we had in common – it quickly grew from there.”

Guests were encouraged to wear fancy dress from any era or any realm, so long as they dressed up, and seeing the guests’ amazing outfits made walking down the aisle even more special for the bride. It also meant the hotel manager came up to her about half an hour before the ceremony, exclaiming “YOU HAVE A UNICORN DOWNSTAIRS FOR YOUR WEDDING – I’VE NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE!” If that’s not the sign of a Rock n Roll Bride wedding, I don’t know what is!
