Maggie and Kyle got married at Sure Thing Chapel in Las Vegas with Cat Power’s cover of Sea of Love playing as the bride walked down the aisle. “After choosing Sure Thing Chapel as the venue, we wanted to play off the colours and fun vibe”, Maggie told us. “I had envisioned the colour scheme of black, red and light blue. We wanted to keep it intimate, fun, and kitschy.”

They skipped most wedding traditions. In fact they didn’t formally invite anyone, but a number of their loved ones flew from Philadelphia to Vegas to celebrate with them. The ceremony lasted just three minutes and it was perfect.

Afterwards, their guests went out to eat while Maggie and Kyle went next door to Downtown Tattoo and got matching tattoos. They a matchbox and a lighter. On the way back to the hotel, they stopped at a Wendy’s drive thru because they were starving! Later that night, they went bar hopping with friends and family near their hotel.

“We skipped most wedding traditions”, Maggie explained. “We did not have a wedding party, formal reception or even a first dance. The only thing I wish we had done was had official invites sent out. We didn’t officially invite anyone, we just told friends and family that if they wanted to join, they were welcome to! I do a lot of design work myself so I wish I created a fun invite that fit our vibe and the Vegas theme. An invite would have also been a nice touch to add to our detail/accessory photos.”

Even with a wedding and guest list, logistics brought anxiety in the lead up. “Even small weddings can be stressful especially when traveling is involved!” ” she continued. “We both had anxiety beforehand but it ended up being great and well worth any stress!”

They also kept costs low, spending around $5,000 in total. Maggie’s dress cost $200. They stayed at New York New York because they did not feel the need to book somewhere more expensive. “It is YOUR wedding and no one else’s so make sure you are making your own decisions”, they advise. “It is not a day about impressing others, it is all about you as a couple. Don’t break the bank just for one day! You can still make it special without making it too expensive. people think that the more expensive the wedding, the better but that’s just not true.”
