A pink and white colour palette could be seen as a very classic choice for a wedding, but when Pantone made Viva Magenta – a dark, sexy, deep red/pink tone – their colour of the year for 2023, it brought the shade bang up to date.
Pantone says, “Viva Magenta vibrates with vim and vigour. This is a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, a pulsating colour whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration. It is an animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint, an electrifying and a boundless shade that is manifesting as a stand-out statement.”
We knew we wanted to do an editorial this year based on this hue, and The Confidence Issue felt like the perfect time. Paired with a sexy, Jessica Rabbit-esque styling and a gorgeous plus sized model, this shoot proves that even the most classic of colour combinations doesn’t have to be traditional.
