Win Your Wedding Dress from Oh My Honey!

Win your wedding dress with Oh My Honey and Rock n Roll Bride

Kat Hill

If there’s one thing I love more than anything about running this blog and my magazine, it’s that I have the opportunity to share with you some truly amazing and utterly creative wedding suppliers that might not be included in more mainstream publications.

Brighton based designer Louise O’Mahony of Oh My Honey falls squarely into that camp. I first discovered her when I featured this amazing snow queen shoot that she not only supplied the dresses for, but modelled in too (that’s her with the blue hair!) and I quickly fell in love with her colourful, whimsical, 1950s inspired wedding dresses.

Although her designs very definitely take their inspiration from vintage gowns, Louise designs with a modern bride in mind. The classic 50s elements are given an updated, fresh approach, and are cut to fit the modern woman’s silhouette. Her use of colourful fabrics, unique embellishments and quirky flirty feminine shapes is second to none, and details such as hot pink zips, ombre tulle petticoats and rainbow embroidered polka dots make these gowns perfect for those who want to stand out on their big day!

So as you can imagine I was pretty damn thrilled when the lady herself got in touch to ask if I’d be interested in running a contest for one of my readers to win a wedding dress. The winner will be able to choose from the following four designs:

Florence

Untitled

Miss Aniela

A simple sweetheart neckline, and dipped hem dress, made with beautiful matte satin fabric. With an amazing ombre choppy tulle petticoat fading from ivory to candy pink bursting out from underneath. This dress is sure to turn heads and is not for the feint of heart!

Louella would be perfect for my June 2016 wedding in a Art Deco cinema, followed by a village fete reception by the sea 🙂

  2. LindseyLou

Having never been bothered about wearing a white dress but wanting something different, I absolutely love the Louella, it’s so me and would look great at our garden party bbq wedding on 30th July 2016! We love supporting local businesses so having a dress made and designed in the UK is important to me. Such lovely dresses!

  3. Jem

Oh Florence! The only attire that ever made me question if it was possible to be in love with a dress.

Florence has been saved as my favourite, dream dress for months now. way out of my price range as I’m back at University pretending to become an asult. it would be wonderful to have the opportunity to wear something truly artisan, fun, bit silly and very special. I can imagine spending a few evenigns making a made net head dress to match. it probably wouldn’t go with our theme, mostly because we don’t have one. 16th September 15, thanks for reading x

  4. Andie Lollo

I love the Louella dress because it has polka dots and an off the shoulder style that will make me look and feel like the adorable vixen I am this summer when my long time and long distance love and I elope on a romantic, cross-country road trip for two around the time of my birthday, July 25th, 2015.

Our dreams are finally coming true, and stepping out wearing the incredible Louella that compliments me so well rather than the $35 faux lace number from Ardene I’ve been wearing on special occasions for the past two years would be a treat I and my fiancee definitely believe I deserve.

Thank you for this opportunity, regardless!

    Love,
    Andie

I would love Cara it’s a beautiful dress the details are gorgeous. Perfetto for my wedding 3 September 2015

  6. Rebecca Kelsey

Hello! If I win I would love the Cara dress, I’m getting married on July 16th 2015 🙂 thank you x

  7. Clare

Oh Florence, you are the perfect combination of fun, flirty and fabulous! Searching for my dream dress for our wedding on 3rd October 2015 and I think I’ve found you!! I love the 50s style but so many of the dresses I’ve tried on look like white versions of my favourite circle dresses – Florence brings the look into the 21st century!

  8. Elle

I love every single dress by oh my honey, but the Florence dress just blows me away. I’d love to win one of these dresses because who wouldn’t? I’m supporting all small businesses for my wedding and keeping everything simple. This dress would be the crowning beautie of my wedding.

Me and my partner have saved the date for June 2016.

  9. nathalie

    Omg.

I’d Love to wear florance at my wedding in May 2016.

As our colourtheme is “Brown wrapping paper”-ish, pink and mint, the dress would be simply perfect for us.

I’d love to win Louella dress for my wedding in July this year! I have already bought a dress I loved, but now need to change it (boo!).

A condition called Lymphedema has left a lump of fluid under my arm, it’s only come up in the last three weeks (I’ve had the condition in my hand for five years, but under the arm is new). My original dress is strapless, and even with a shrug it’s likely to be seen on photos when I’m moving around – an off the shoulder dress like the Louella would be perfect for hiding it.

    Thank you for the consideration!
    Lou x

  11. Debora Ruiz-Kordova

It is a hugely difficult choice as all the OMH dresses are stunningly beautiful but I think wearing the Florence dress on such a special day would be the icing on the cake and a dream come true. My fiancé and I are marrying on the 17/3/’16. LOVE <3

  12. I’d love to wear the Louella, because I love the polka dots. I really don’t fancy wearing the same dress as every other bride out there. The only other dress I’ve seen that I loved in my extensive period of looking at wedding dresses was striped. I really like a good pattern, and I don’t see why my wedding day should be any different!

It’s difficult to say exactly when my wedding is, although it’s going to be somewhere within the first two weeks of July. My fiance is American so there are lots of paperwork issues that we’re still working through. We finally got the visa granted last week, though which is a massive step forward. This wedding is destined to be so last-minute, and not really how I pictured it at all. Having the dress sorted, and knowing it’s going to be kick-ass wherever we end up doing the deed, would be a massive weight off my mind!

  13. Shen

Oh wow, what a wonderful comp with some truly stunning dresses! I’d have to pick Louella though, it fits our theme perfectly and my girl would looks stunning in it (i’ve already found / ordered my dress but Louella would stuningly contrast it!). Our vintage DIY wedding is on 02.04.16!
    Good luck to everyone.

  14. Florence

    My wedding date is 11.1.15
My name is Florence and it seems like fate that the Florence dress is my absolute dream!

I’ve spent a lifetime disappointed at souvenir shops searching for a mug or pin that has my name on it, perhaps the universe is trying to make it up to me by gifting me this namesake gown!!

    <3

  15. Victoria

Florence…reminds me of my Nana’s wedding dress and fits our vintage afternoon tea wedding perfectly.

  16. Matt

I would love to surprise my fiancée with the Louella dress. I love her with all my heart, and only want the best for her 🙂 we are having a 50s Carnival wedding in Cardiff Castle on the 26th May 2016!
    Big love x

  17. Lindsay

I’m getting married in DisneyWorld on May 6th 2015 (not long!) in sight of Cinderella’s castle, despite not being remotely princessy. If anything, I’m a pixie-haired tomboy sort; that’s why I like the shorter dresses. And I especially love “Hannah”, as it’s feminine but fun, and it’s just beautiful.

So, yes, my wedding is 6 weeks away and I havent got a dress yet. We only got engaged a month ago, so it’s all a big rush. However, I’m a very standard 12, so I’m only slightly panicked as I’m fairly sure I won’t need adjustments. I’m just trusting it’ll all be fine, and I just can’t wait, mainly. Can’t wait for the wedding, and can’t wait to be married to Laurence.

  18. Lis

The Louella could be perfect for my wedding – I’m a size 10-12 and am greedy and having two weddings, one on May 16 2015 and another exactly a year later May 16 2016 in Scotland to represent both countries in our relationship. I have never wanted a plain dress and love the 1950s vintage vibe, so the dress would be perfect for our vintage theme and golf course venue!

  19. Stephanie Ahern

I would be thrilled to wear the Florence dress on my wedding day on the 26th October 2015. We are getting married at the Matara Centre in Gloucester; a unique multi-cultural venue, with a tranquil, magical and free spirited atmosphere. I love their ethos’ including ‘Intend to see the hidden beauty of all that exists and it will then reveal itself’. I hope that our day, including a unique dress such as Florence (with either a blue or purple petticoat, or mint if you’d stretch that far), will show all of my beauty including that from within.

I’ve struggled to find anything different and I really think Oh my honey has something different to offer a bride wanting to be different from the rest.

  20. Denise Roberts

I would absolutely love the Cara dress for our lakeside wedding on 9th April 2016. It has everything I love, the sweetheart neckline on the bodice, lace, satin and most importantly I know I’ll be able to dance all night with that gorgeous 1950s skirt!

  21. Brooke Buchanan

    Hi-
I am a science teacher and an event planner on the weekends and evenings. In fact, I am currently planning my best friend’s wedding which takes place on May 30, 2015. I seem to have gotten into the habit of not charging for my time … I really do love weddings so much and I have the absolute best friends in the world. I love helping with weddings and being part of such a beautiful day in the lives of people I love.

I’ve been with my partner, Pete, for 8 years this June. We eloped seven years ago and married in the courthouse but fid not tell anyone for a year. We hope to have a ceremony with our immediate family and amazing, creative, crazy and colorful friends sometime after we return from Burning Man (September) and before the holidays. It would mean so much to us to renew our vows publicly in front of those we consider family and actually have a wedding!

I love love love wedding dresses. I own 3, all vintage that I picked up for almost nothing at vintage and thrift stores around town. The old lace and tulle is absolutely beautiful on them! It’s a very difficult choice for me to make. I believe I must pick Hannah. She is the one that is almost identical to the dress I imagine myself wearing on my wedding day. Classic, timeless, and versatile to the point she can be worn as punked out or as traditional as my mood might be ( it will be a punky mood, it always is). Florence was a close second. And as outrageously as I tend to dress, I do want to be the center of attention on my wedding day, not my dress. My dress should show me off – I do love the drama and spirit of Florence but I’d be more likely to wear her post wedding to our Sunday morning mimosa brunch croquet game!

    Thank you!
    Brooke

  22. Danielle

I’m getting married the day before brazilian Valentine’s day, next year! And Florence is a dream come true, cause it makes me feel like cotton candy! It reminds me of childhood and naivety, and yet is bold and sexy… All the romantic shades of pink would match perfectly my pink-marsala wedding decor. I’d feel like raising from a cloud of sweetness, but still rocking it all out!

  23. Anca

Are you kidding me? Ever since I saw the color dotted Louella dress randomly on the Internet waaaay before I even got engaged, I said to myself “THIS is the dress I’ll be wearing if I ever get married!”. And now here it is <3
I would LOVE it for my wedding on July 11th 2015! It's like it was meant to be ^_^

  24. Allie

The Cara dress is lovely and would suit my country pub wedding on 22nd August 2015 perfectly.

  25. Gabrielle morales

Oh my my my that Florence is calling my name ! Why would I want it because I have always been a pink flamingo in a pond of swans. My hunny bunny has always love my crazy fun style when everyone one else just didn’t get it . We will be getting hitched at the end of the year in Vegas. And why not have a pink wedding dress in Vegas.

  26. Vanda

I would love to win the Florence dress. We are getting married this July and it would perfectly capture the quirkiness that we both share 🙂 thank you for this wonderful blog as it never fails to give the inspiration I need. Not only for my upcoming wedding, but I love to read about couples lives. It just gives people hope to live their lives and to believe in the power of love <3

  27. Kylie Thompson

How super cute is Cara! Perfect for our Australian Summer picnic wedding on January 17,2016. Picture that with a colourful little pair of sparkly shoes and a great big smile, perfect!

  28. Lindsey

So I’m a very lucky girl who got proposed to by my amazing boyfriend unfortunately at the time he didn’t realise I was having a nervous breakdown.
So he had an opportunity to escape but this week in front of his family he proposed again!
I would absolutely love to win one of these beautiful dresses and my favourite would be the Louella as I love the I intersting design on the chest/shoulders and the stunning polka dots 🙂

  29. Jasmin B

I would love to win the Florence dress. It’s so hard to find a unique dress, specially if you are a big girl… This competition is just AMAZING!!!
We are getting married in June 2016, hopefully sunny and warm enough here in Scotland to show this beauty off 😉

  30. Laura

I would love the Louella dress. Since I saw it I knew that this is the only dress for me. It would fit in perfectly with our 50s carnival theme on 26/05/16. May the odds be ever in your favour!

  31. Kirsty Bagley

Iv fell in love with the HANNAH Dress!
Me and my partner have been together 5 years this year and have a beautiful daughter we are having a small wedding due to money, but if still love to look amazing in a dress! This dress is amazing it’s just what I’d pick if id had the money!! Love!! Xxx

  32. Phee Mann

For me, it would need to be Florence.
She offers just the right amount of fun, flirty, fabulousness-ness that one looks for in choosing a dress of this stature; oh and she’s also a little pink- WINNER!!

Marrying Bizz, 21/05/16, going to be awesome.
May be more awesome if Florence comes too… ;-p

  33. Amy Bhandari

A second marriage is a strange and magical thing; strange because you don’t think you’ll do it again after the first time, and magical because you know exactly what your life together means, and you’ve learnt from your mistakes. Plus, you really don’t care what other people think about or expect from your wedding; it’s all about the two of you and your relationship, 100%.

I can see myself in Louella as our small, intimate Cumbrian wedding, an Asian british fusion, will be as quirky and fun as Louella is. Louella will rub along nicely with some multicoloured Indian bangles and mad shoes I think! Louella doesn’t take herself so seriously that she’ll look out of place in the registry office, yet she’s more then glam enough to turn heads. I think her and I could rock a great eclectic Indian/British/50s fusion look down our local in the South Lakes! xxx

  34. Claire Robinson

I would love to win CARA. We’re having a barn wedding, followed by a swing/jive band in a beautiful old village hall. I’ve been trying to find something that I could really have fun in, whilst still feeling a million dollars. I really think this dress ticks both boxes! CARA could be whisked around that dance floor all night long!!

  35. Kirsty Erridge

I would love, love, love to win Louella for my wedding on the 15th August 2015. As a fellow Brightonian I have been in love with Oh My Honey for a long time and live in Hanover where I’m within sniffing distance of the beautiful creations being made!

We have had a very short time to plan our wedding due to a family bereavement, I thought I had found an alternative cheap dress from ebay but alas the general consensus is that’s it’s bloody awful which has meant the major panic has begun to find a replacement! I’ve been lusting after Lizzie and Louella for a long time as I LOVE the embroidered polka dots but sadly can’t afford it (and I can’t get down to a size 8 to buy the Louella sample boo). My aunt sent me a link to Louella a few months ago, I rarely see her but she saw it and said she thought it was so me…little did she know it was the only dress on my wish list (if only she could have offered to buy it!!).

So, I’m keeping my fingers, toes and belly button crossed that me and Louella can become best friends for many years to come, this is not a dress to be worn only once…nobody puts Louella in the corner!!

    Thank you, Kirsty 🙂

  36. Wiebke

I just fell in love with Florence and would very much like to wear her for my June 4th, 2016 Pop! Wedding. I would even adjust our colour theme to accomodate her. 🙂

  37. I am not just looking for my wedding dress. I am looking for the dress that will always carry tons of memories of love, laughter, dancing, crying, champange and fireworks. Memories of good times with my loved ones. The Florence dress looks just like the kind of dress I imagend. A great gorgeos style for a lovely ceremony but as well a dress that can handle a partynight. I would love to wear it at our best day ever in September 2015.

  38. fiona forrow

Hi I would love to win the Florence dress!! Getting married on 2nd July 2016, music as our theme, and lots of colour, the splash of colour in the design of this beautiful dress would be perfect! Xx

  39. Sarah

Louella is amazing. I would love to wear this on our secret scots highlands winter wedding taking place between Nov & December 2015 🙂

  40. Shunyan

I’m totally obsessed with Oh My Honey dresses. They are so unique and fun which what getting married is all about.
OMBRÉ OMBRÉ OMBRÉ queen of dresses Florence is my fave.
Dip dye hem in fabulous pinks and lots of Tulle to make any bride feel like a queen on her big day.

Our big day is May 7th 2016 – hopefully I won’t have to dip dye my own dress !

  41. rachel lehoovre

O.M.G. I am in LOVE with the Florence dress! I am addicted to hot pink and I cannot get over the ombre tulle! It is such a unique and beautiful dress- fit for a queen!! This gown would perfectly fit the look I am going for with my mad hatter tea party/Alice in Wonderland inspired wedding (set to happen June 2016)!

  42. Laura

Wow, these dresses are all gorgeous!!
I would definitely pick the Hannah as my dream dress because my first daughter will be named Hannah and because the dress suits my style perfectly.
My wedding date is June 17, 2016 and I would be the most beautiful bride if I had this dress 🙂

  43. I would choose the Florence for my Las Vegas wedding at the Neon Museum in June 2016! It’s the perfect cut and colors (pink!!) for my personality and colorful backdrop that we will have at the wedding. That dress shines as bright as all of those vintage neon signs that will be surrounding us during the ceremony and reception used to 🙂

  44. We are celebrating our wedding day at Latitude Festival on the 18th July 2015, being wisked off in the morning for the ceremony and returning to our close friends and family who will all be attending the festival with us. I wanted a dress that could be ostentatious and fun and wearable for the entire day seeing as we’ll be celebrating with thousands of others in a field surrounded by fabulous music, literature, entertainment and dance as well as the multi coloured sheep, which brings me to the dress. Louella would be my choice as the polka dots would not only match the vibrance of the environment, allow me many choices of foot attire and colours and definitely stand out in the crowd to shout from every corner of the festival what an amazing day I’ll be having! Thank you

  45. Lynsey

I adore ‘Cara’ it is elegant and eclectic. I want to dance at my wedding and don’t want a long dress – I want to twirl and I want my boyfriend to see my legs that he loves!

We are getting married on the 25 June 2015 and this would be one less thing on the list.

    Love x

  46. Caz

Despite having been with my fiancée for five years we have only been engaged for two weeks and are getting married this summer, on July 25th. We’ve found a venue we can walk to from our house and a really fun reception venue, which we will travel to by boat – is actually on an industrial estate by a canal in North London, its a rather grimy setting fill of factories and workshops which will make such an incredible backdrop for a dreamy feminine dress like the Florence. Very very rock and roll!

As we are in such a hurry we are really leaning on all of our friends, and if I won a dress for myself then I would be able to spend that money saying thank you to all of my bridal party – I’ve got two brilliant bridesmaids (my sisters), three beautiful flowergirls (nieces) and a dozen “Usherettes” (my lovely glamorous friends) and I would love to be able to buy them all something wonderful to wear so we can get some amazing photos to remember the day.
