It took me a while to come up with the title of this blog post because there is so much good stuff in this shoot! Snow queen styling, blue hair, antlers, animal skulls…all the kind of things I’m utterly LOVING right now. It’s certainly not for everyone, but this kind of weird and wonderful styling totally does it for me. I know Roo‘s going to die when she sees this too…
“The shoot was arranged as Louise of Oh My Honey has just launched her first bridal collection,” stylist Alex told me. “We wanted to do something creative to show off the gowns and also to have a bit of fun.”
“Our inspiration came from gothic fairytales, woodland nymphs and The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe. We wanted the table to look as though you’d stepped out of the Narnia wardrobe for a magical woodland wedding breakfast. Wooden boards and pots, wild flowers teamed with fresh loaves and jars of chestnuts on a bare dining table provided the rustic edge. For that magical feel, bottles and branches were sprayed with ‘gilver’ (a mix of gold and silver glitter). Snowflake Christmas decorations were used to tie the cutlery and the favours were chunks of Stollen cake in glittery berry bags.”
“The cake was a simple shop bought sponge cake that was roughly covered with white icing, topped with blueberries and a heavy sprinkling of icing sugar. A silver heart tilted to one side and a lace dress collar finished the decoration. The gilver frosted branches made another appearance as an alternative wedding bouquet.”
“The floral design was a mix of wild grasses and berry shade flowers with fake silver ferns bound with ribbon. We used an eclectic mix of silver lanterns, wood blocks, white net pom-poms, animal skin throws and deer skulls in Louise’s garden backdrop, shooting at crazy o’clock to capture the morning winter frost. And smoke bombs added to the other-worldly feel.”
Yep, I’m dying. Oh how I love it so. I’d like to live in this photo shoot please. I also think I need an antler headband in my life…
Thanks to Laura Babb, Alex of The Bijou Bride, Louise of Oh My Honey and the whole team behind this shoot for sharing it today.

Every time I see a post like this, it makes me want to sit down and come up with a huge, elegant concept shoot! Unfortunately, I’m completely scatterbrained, and I’m a horrible procrastinator- I was planning for a hot rod pin up shoot this time last year (for summer) and I still haven’t done it. Smh… But this is beautiful! The time and planning to set up is just awesome! Thank you for sharing!

Hello and welcome to my little blog. My name is Kat Williams aka the Rock n Roll Bride and my aim is to provide a little haven of kick ass weddingness in a cookie cutter, pastel and often puke-worthy wedding world. If you’ve ever picked up a bridal magazine and felt queasy or trawled the internet and felt disheartened by what you didn’t find well, my friend, you are in the right place!
