WIN £500 Worth of Goodies from SimplyBe

November 20, 2012

Now don’t get me wrong, I love the British high street and I’m certainly not immune to the odd rummage through the rails… in fact it’s a pretty regular occurrence. But I do have a bit of a gripe. Being the owner of a rather ample bosom and far from the size 8/10 that most stores seem to now label as medium (seriously?) it can be tough to find age-appropriate outfits that fit me really well. Which is why I whooped with joy when the lovely guys at SimplyBe got in contact asking if I’d like to run a competition to give one of my readers £500 worth of stuff. “Why yes, yes I would!” I replied with vigour!

SimplyBe are a leading high-street fashion retailer, based in the UK, that specialise in fashionable and flattering clothing for sizes 14-32. Each piece is designed with these sizes in mind – they’re not created as a size 6/8 and then scaled up – oh no if you’re a size 18 then a size 18 dress will be designed and cut to flatter your figure. I AM ECSTATIC.

They say, “Just as Rock n Roll Bride aims to promote ‘individuality and general awesomeness within a cookie cutter, pastel and often puke-worthy wedding world’, SimplyBe provides a unique take on women’s fashion catering almost exclusively to those often ignored by mainstream, high-street retailers. We provide awesome, on-trend and affordable fashion in larger sizes, allowing our customers to find their own look, feel fantastic and reach their full style potential as individuals.”

But that’s not all! SimplyBe have just launched a bridal boutique! From accessories to underwear and – thank the lord – actual wedding dresses, this collection is cute, stylish and super duper flattering.

The Contest

SimplyBe would like to give one lucky lady £500 to spend on whatever they like from their online store! BOOM!

Entry is simple. Create a post on your own blog (you need to have your own to be eligible) and put together your own lookbook entitled ‘Rock Chic’ using items from SimplyBe and up to the value of £500. It doesn’t have to be bridal but it can be! In your post, link to each item you’ve chosen and let us know what inspired you and your choices.

When your post is live, simply link to it in a comment below this article and I will pick my favourite to win the booty!

You have until Midnight Thursday 20th December to publish your article and post it here. After that date, I’ll choose my favourite and the lovely guys at SimplyBe will be in contact with the winner via email.

This contest is now closed

And to get you started – obviously I couldn’t resist having a go too. I picked this outfit because… well, I would rock this look! I’m not totally sure the bag goes with the dress and Gareth would so roll his eyes when I walked downstairs in this… but I don’t care because I love it all!

Galactic Printed Cut Out Back Dress £55
Iron Fist Manslayer Bootie Wedge £79.99
Irregular Choice May Contain Nuts Bag £70
Black Enamel Clear Glass Stone 3 Star Headband £9
Sterling Silver Crystal-Set Ring £40
Total: £253.99

PS doing only one outfit was hard! Feel free to do as many as you like in your blog post as long as the whole lot doesn’t add up to more than £500.

This competition is only open to readers within the UK.

Good luck and happy styling!

When I saw Upper Street has heart shoes, I jumped right on this! We’re getting married two days before Christmas and are having a Valentine’s day meets Christmas theme since our first date was the day before Valentine’s in 2009. My wedding dress is pink to honor my mom who passed in 2000 (her favorite flower was the pink rose) and the baby pink bridal satin in the perfect color to go with that. We’re plastering hearts on everything. I think the gold will be so pretty with the Christmas decor and the red snakeskin material makes me think of fiery love, which we have 🙂
Thanks so much for hosting this contest xxo

Was sooo exciting to be able to design my own shoes – I didnt know you could do it! I have been desperately trying to find a pair of shoes that goes with my vintagey theme of ivory and purples, its not a colour combo that is seen together very often. Would truly adore these!

Okay so my wedding shoes are definitely not to everyone’s wedding taste! I have had to choose heels but I would want them flat as I am 6ft and my partner is 3 inches shorter than I am, so I don’t really want to be bending down to kiss him on our wedding day!! I love the classic tan straps with hints of coral and leopard print… told ya they were a bit weird!

My shoe design reflects the color palette of my alt Jane Austen wedding theme. Due to a disability, I can no longer wear my beloved heels. It’s hard to find flats that are just as cute as all of those super cute heels I’ve been lusting after. I love the idea that I can create my own flats that are just as cute and photogenic as all of those heels I see on various blogs and wedding mags.

With Autumn just around the corner I designed a pump titled “Autumn Jungle”.
The fall season is famous for neutral colors and dark tones. Although I did stick to a nude/black snake print the pop of red gives it a fun flare. This was inspired by my favorite season which is a transition between summer and winter. The red is wild and accents the nude tones. This is a classy pump while still being fierce. Something I try to live my life by.

  9. Such fun Kat! What a great idea. I love my shoe. I’ve taken a classic design and some of my favourite elements to create a shoe for the Autumn/ Winter season which will see me through high level meetings and into the evening no probs. I’ve incorporated the warmth of chocolate brown snakeskin with a vibrant red suede and would team this with a black dress or trousers for formal. The bling encrusted snakeskin strap and silver snakeskin platform/heel will transform it for the evening. At £315 it’s a snip and I love the gold lining 🙂

  11. This shoe designing website is AMAZING!!! I could easily spend loads of time designing lots of shoes!!

I’m getting Married August next year and I have been looking for a perfect pair of red flats to wear. Our wedding theme is Alice in Wonderland tea party. I designed these simple red flats with the heart of the back to represent the queen of hearts. These would be absolutely perfect for the big day and you have no idea how loud I will scream with delight if I won this comptetition! – I rarely win anything :o(

Plus if I get to go to London for the day to the complimentary VIP appointment at the Upper Street Studio, I will plan a day in London with friends and perhaps finally get to enjoy afternoon tea with them somewhere plush!

My fingers and toes are crossed (Eeeeep!!) x x

  13. Dear Kat,

My name is Athena, I am an artist from Utah. I have been with my boyfriend for almost four years and we met at Burning Man. Burning Man is a week long art festival in the middle of the Black Rock Nevada desert. We plan on being wed in October on our anniversary (just not sure of the year we are not rushing). We want anything but a traditional wedding. I plan on making all of my own decorations from the center pieces to the wedding cake topper. I love very different things that are not the norm. My dress will not be all white and will have black and orange accents. These shoes will be great and compliment the whole theme. =)

These represent the year apart my fiance and I have had while we’ve awaited our wedding in separate countries. The black is the difficulty, the fuchsia is the adventure that awaits us and the white is the hope of the wedding. We’re honeymooning in Kenya, so the zebra inspiration was fitting!

  15. http://www.upperstreet.com/shoedesigner/flash_shoe_designer.php?mode=front&shoeId=91792485&userId=34837&shoeName=Purple%2Fblack+str+court I am working on losing weight (like 11 stone of weight!) and as I get slimmer I am starting to get more confidence. It has been ages since I’ve been able to balance in heels, I’m training myself back into them. I think these are gorgeous and if I had them sitting waiting for me, they would really help to inspire me to reach my goal. I’m already planning my new look for when I reach my target weight, and gorgeous shoes are a HUGE part of that! You can see my weight loss blog at http://26to12.wordpress.com

Hi Kat, My wedding is in 5 weeks and I am still searching for the perfect pair of flats, so when this opportunity came up I couldn’t wait to get designing! I have been on this site so many times, if only I could afford their gorgeous creations.

About my shoes: I designed these flats as a perfect compliment to my white and pink wedding dress, with a hint of blue to make my bridesmaids dresses really pop. Nearly everything for my wedding is handmade, so the addition of handmade shoes would really be the icing on the cake!

This competition sounds too good to be true! I am getting married next year and whilst I have got my dress the shoes have been another story entirely. Not only do I want a pair that are special and unique but I also have the problem of very big feet! I’m so chuffed that Upper Street do shoes up to a size 44 as well as providing the option to reduce the heel size upon checkout (being 6’1”, this is essential!)

We are getting married in a tiny church on a beach on Anglesey so I’ve chosen a lovely, Summery peep toe style. My other half will be wearing red shorts therefore I’ve included a striking red heel to compliment the sea blue.

Thanks Kat and Upper Street for the opportunity to enter such an awesome contest!

    Nia x
